  1. I'd bet her RX just needs a good detail...the paint is probably oxidized from the lack of detailing. For the the dirt in the leather wear marks, try a mr. clean magic eraser. Tread lightly at first because they can take the dye off, but when used properly, it can make the seats look brand new. I also hear great things about hand cleaners with "grit" in them like fast orange.
  2. Jason is out in Garland. I drive from Louisiana to have him work on my LS when it needs it...he's honest and does great work! He is still in business, but I hear he is quite busy these days! Here's the last phone # I have in my phone: 214 221-3135, his shop is on Security St.
  3. I found two lux rental agencies in S FL. No Lexus cars, but they do have some pretty interesting offerings! http://luxrentals.com/ This place even has Bently.... http://www.hotcarsmiami.com/
  4. Yea, I guess you have alot of experience in this area out in Sacramento. Give me a break!! ← ^^What he said! I don't have a 400h, but I would think the car would be great creeping along in a traffic jam! New Orleans is nowhere near the size of Houston, and it took forever for us to leave even taking the back roads. "numerous uncrowded back country roads..." are you serious??
  5. We have a white 99 Suburban LT with just over 106k miles. We bought it with 12 miles on the odo. The truck has had some problems, but it's usefulness outweighs it. We've pretty much taken this truck to hell and back, and it's done ok....it's traveled a large portion of the country, been hit countless times, had 3 teenagers learn to drive in it, and towed its fair share of trailers. At 60k, the transmission died. The dealer said it's fairly common since they had another 'Burbin there for the same repair. I don't know if it was from the lack of service since we never once changed the fluid. Other than that, it's eaten an alternator or two, some water pumps, and that's about all I can remember for now. It's important to remember that changing a water pump or alternator on a Suburban takes no time at all, and the parts are small, small fractions of the cost of Lexus parts. Lexus needs to take some serious notes on the layout of the drain plug and oil filter location since the Suburban is by far the easiest car to change the oil and filter in...both are on 90deg angles (what a treat compared to whats in the LS). The ride is pretty cushy, and handling is ponderous with a lot of body roll. They actually turn pretty tight, but the length of the vehicle is what makes parking a nightmare. For only having something like 255hp, these 3ton beasts can literally fly like bats out of hell! At the gas pump, keep your debit card handy for a second swipe after the pump reaches its $75 limit (most are like that around here) since the tank is a massive 42 gallons! Suprisingly, there is only 1 rattle in the back our Suburban (the dash is tight). If you can afford the gas and possible transmission replacement/rebuild, I'd recommend one! For the lack of maintinance, and heavy use that ours sees, I can't say too much bad about it! The styling of the LX450 has never done anything for me....that's just me!
  6. Don't be afraid to ask any questions! If someone is going to mock you for asking a question, you wouldn't want their input anyway! The privacy handset is a Nokia accessory. It's just a like a phone, but it has no buttons on it. lol It's only meant to function to hold private conversation that you don't want anyone else in the car to hear! It's a fun little toy to have! The mount that I have isn't a cup holder type. Jim (1990LS400) should be able to tell you what brand it is! lol I pulled the ac/stereo controllers out and screwed it in to the dash right where you see it, but the screws are hidden behind the stereo and climate. I'm glad to help! ;)
  7. I know you know, Tom was the one that wanted the clarification. ;)
  8. 1995-2000 LSs are all second generation UCF20s. While the 1998 model year has several important upgrades, it's still the same chassis with UCF20 stamped on the info sticker in the driver's door jam. Whoever wrote that it's a thrid gen on the CPO library webpage must have been :snoooorrrtttt: at the time!! LOL
  9. LOL that thing looks like an offroading vehicle! Sha, that's a second gen, btw... third gen is the LS430. ;)
  10. A car kit is the cradle, mic, loud speaker, privacy handset, and control box...it all stays in the car. A headset isn't a car kit, but a good option if you don't want to install one in your car. There is a car kit available from Samsug for your phone: http://product.samsung.com/cgi-bin/nabc/pr...rod_id=SCH-A530 Here is my nokia setup: Phone and cradle: Mic: Auto mute: Speaker: Privacy handset: Antenna:
  11. I've driven a couple LS430s (both 2005s), and the transmission lag was terribly noticeable. It felt like the car was stumbling in between the gears. I don't accelerate hard either. One of the LS430s I drove was brand new (the other is a relatives that has 5k miles), and I drove it back to back with the competition from BMW (745li) and MB (S430), and I couldn't feel any lag. It was really disappointing to expereince such behavior from a LS430.
  12. Ohh ok, I was confused with all of the years and which one switched and which one didn't! You are right my ac does switch back and forth, and I hate it! I sure wish I could program it to stay on recirculate since the air stinks here! lol That pm was waay past due!!
  13. None that I know of. I think there was a big discussion about this a good while ago in which user "dogboy" was working on an adaptor of sorts to convert the Lexus phone to accept more modern technology. I'd just get a car kit from your phone's manufacture. They are quite easy to install, btw!
  14. Do all post '93ish LSs have this? I have a cabin filter, and the climate controller switches back and forth, but I always thought it did it for different reasons. lol
  15. Welcome back!!!!! Hahaha, you always seem to neglect the fact that I have Verizon and a number that has a 504 area code, so yes it will be hard to catch me! Those barracks sound like the dorms I had to live in last year. LOL I'm in class from 9-3, so I'll start trying to call you back after that. ;)
  16. I'm not intending this to be that, I'm just sharing factual info that the US Senate is allowing the finish of Daddy's war, it's not just Junior's doings, and anyone who thinks otherwise should read-up on this matter before posting! lol
  17. Here it is folks, the face of the modern racist. A statement that proves racism exists by the very fact that it seeks to prove that it doesn't. I forget who said it but its very true "Modern racism is the belief that racism itself no longer exists". Thats psychological theory. This statement is so blatantly obvious in its intent it actually made me laugh outloud. We have here folks, a real live 2005 Racist. I interpreted that phrase in a different way such as blacks have no right to say that their is racism when whites are trying to help. Sure, at face value he's saying that their is no racism, but I think there is more there. While Jasper's post can be viewed as "on edge," I really like the crutch metaphor. It reminds me of all the black people who started at rock bottom and made something of themselves...Condi Rice immediately comes to mind, she's remarkable! I wouldn't chalk that up to being Indian. Kids are vicious, and not matter what, you will come across some people that will find something to pick on you for whether you have a big, pointy nose, if you're poor, you're Jewish, etc. etc. Either way it's going to happen.
  18. Only in the case of the media and people who know zilch about political process, I guess they go hand-in-hand.
  19. but Bush is our president and he needed to finish his daddy's war. ← That's nice of you to give all of the credit to President Bush, but the last time I checked this is a democracy, and the US Senators that we elect voted on the legislation to invade Iraq.
  20. That's a cool drawing! It looks more like a 92-94 that was involved in a front end collision, and the body shop installed the wrong lower valance since it doesn't have the lines on the headlights. lol
  21. My mistake! :chairshot: Thanks Ralph! Maybe this will help lol....
  22. My '95 only has 1 condensor fan also.
  23. Mine are 10mm. I took my plate off the other day to put a piece of velcro behind it so that it doesn't flutter when I close the trunk...who would've thought 50cents of velcro could make me so happy! lol
  24. How about a car phone and wire it to mute the stereo when a call comes through? I love mine! B)
  25. LOL, of course this would come out a couple weeks after I order the SFX package. Either way, I love my PC dearly. B) It has done a complete 180 on my paint. I thought a repaint was my only way out, but the PC has saved it! :D That's completely unreasonable. I suppose you woke up one day and realized that you knew how to opperate a rotary buffer? As a novice detailer who needed the help of a machine to restore my paint, I wanted to start with a machine that is nearly foolproof, and a rotoary just isn't that. Browse autopia.org, there are several very experienced detailers that use PCs and only PCs. Sonus's pad cleaning solution is a godsend. ;)
