    Age?

I'm one of the younger members here...I'm 18/m and a full time college student(sophomore) in business admin.
  2. The Highlander is an excellent choice and my vote. My neighbor had(leased) a top of the line beige LTD model, V6, AWD....it was awesome!!!! B) They drive great, very comfortable, look good, quiet, basically a Toyota! lol A Murano possibly? I think they look cool(very love it or hate it style), but I've never driven one.
  3. What a gorgeous car! I hope you get many trouble free miles from her! I'll be having the same dreams since I haven't driven my LS in over a week(pics and a post why to come); as great as an ES is, it's no LS! My speedometer sticks at 0 from time to time, but it only happens on cold mornings, and a little tap on the dash over the speedo would make it spring in to action. People staring at you and what not is fun now, but it got old to me real quick, so dark tint was added...problem solved!
  4. Not as far as my '95 was concerned. Thinking that I was saving $$ with 87 was a mistake. I agree about the computer! Haha, so true, but it's nice how long the tank lasts too! I spent a lot of time in our '99 last week, and I felt like the luckiest guy in the world to get back in my LS today! B)
  5. Try www.car-part.com. I've had great success with their site! ;)
  6. Wow, I feel like a real jack a$s for paying to have my driver's belt replaced-it wasn't much though! I don't regret doing it though as it is great to not have to feed the seatbelt back in to the retractor, not to mention the added safety benefits of a belt that can properly retract itself. Great work, John!
  7. that is a real good idea- or have my friend pretend to be a lawyer and call 'em! ← It's a great idea! It's not like they are going to know whether or not your friend went to law school and passed the bar, and in a lawsuit happy society, it'll get things rolling at a much better pace. I'd have your "lawyer" give the carwash 5 more days(or whatever you want) to get your ES fixed to your likings before "he" brings suit against them.
  8. My thoughts exactly. There are some really good looking ones to look at too!! Someone would have to pay me a lot of money to ride one of those things. I have an uncle that broke his neck on a late model Harley Fatboy when he lost control and went over a small cliff. Needless to say, he used the $25k(it was some rare anniver. model) in insurance money and bought something with some steel between him and the other motorists...he bought a '01 Town Car...quite a change of pace, but I guess a broken neck will do that to you. Luckily, he healed 100% and has no neck/back problems-he was extremely lucky. You guys be careful with those bikes!
  9. I always get comments on my LS usually at drive thrus and gas stations, and it never fails that everytime I bring my LS to a Toyota dealership(for an oil change since Lexus is too far or anyone else other than Jiffy Lube), I get offers to purchase my car from the tech working on it. I chuckle and say no thanks. No one ever believes me when I tell them the mileage either! B) These are very good looking cars indeed!
  10. We all get those trade-in bugs from time to time, and it'll pass. I was bitten like crazy(although I could never afford that car right now) when I test drove a '02 S430 last week for a friend; what a car! Its interior space was phenominal. If you were fearless enough to tackle the front end, you'll laugh at brake pads. They take 45 minutes if you stop for a soft drink break every 5 minutes, and OE pads are ~$50. I always bring my LS to one of those mom and pop tire stores for tire work because they are very service oriented and do good work at a good price. Alignment and balance for $170 is rediculous. I've been in withdrawals since I haven't been able to drive my LS in 5 days, and it will be another 3 before I can climb in to the driver's seat and take her for a cruise. It's worth the wait for the improvements being made. Very few vehicles can compare to a LS. Please don't get a '99 Tahoe. lol I can give you many, many horror stories about our(and some friends') '99 Suburban.
  11. Lexus of New Orleans's service department is horrible. It took them 3 trips to find a bad alternator in my ES300. Not to mention, their service dept staff is incredibly rude. I'm young, but my money will spend just as well as the other clients'. The other 2 Lexus dealers in the state have treated me wonderfully; I don't know why they can't do the same.
  12. It's 22.5 gallons...this should boost your mileage from now on!! ;)
  13. Depending on the market of course, I'd say $9k-$12k. You can't abandon ship after doing all of those repairs! j/k Upgrading LSs or looking for a change?
  14. Good to hear from you, Nick! ;) Keep up with the tranny maintinance on that Tahoe(the tranny in our Suburban died at 60k). Good luck with your new Tahoe!!
  15. In my case I lost money by using 87. Ex. 400 mile trip at 22mpg will require 18.18 gallons of gas. 87 is $2/gallon which comes to roughly $36.36 for 400 miles. On the other hand, 400 miles at 26.6 miles per gallon will take 15.03 gallons of premium @ $2.30/gallon comming to $34.59. $36.36 -$34.59 $1.77 In the end, I gained nothing by using 87. Paying up for premium actually saved me $$ in the long run, and it's always fun to see gas mileage numbers like that! No more 87 for me!
  16. It's just not my cup of tea! ;) I love my 2 tone. B) To me the cars that are painted to a single tone just don't look right since they still have that molding at the bottom. Just my $.02!
  17. Just in the northern part of the state where I go to school, but in NO, they could give a $hit! The situation in which I got the ticket was actually interesting...see the general disc. forum for the story. Be warned though, a tint ticket will run $140...I know from expereince unfortunately. Mine was metered at 11%-that's 20% on top of the factory tint. I can recommend someone to you that will do any darkness you want at a great price. Plus, he's in the CBD, so you can entertain yourself while the car is being tinted!
  18. I have 20% all around on my '95. I love it!!! You'll be suprised at how much cooler your car will stay, and not to mention it looks great on a black car.....
  19. I test drove a series of luxury cars for a friend last week-745 and 740(used), S430(used), and LS430(new). The current MB S class is by far the most comfortable car that I've driven. I'm glad the Germans(the 745 and 740 is also much roomier than a LS) still know how to make a car for those of us over 6'. The S class was just excellent...ample headroom and I couldn't reach the pedals with the seat as far back as it can go; add lots of travel on the tilt/tele wheel, and I was in heaven. The S was not built was well as a $85k car should be, but driver comfort overtakes plastic quality any day for me! I think I've found my next car for when it's time in a few years...not to mention the '05 LS430 I drove the same day resembled my LS400 too much but quieter, quicker, maybe an inch or so more legroom and headroom(not as much as what I expected based off what some LOC members have said), and smart access technology which is probably the greatest invention ever. The throttle lag and resulting jerk in the LS430 drove me insane, and I didn't accelerate past 2k rpms just as a habit from my own LS; the salesman told me I drove it too slow! lol I'll keep my LS though...for when the MB is at the shop! lol RX, I sat in the new Jeep Grand Cherokee a few days ago. The head and legroom is pretty good, but I felt cramped from the lack of hip room.
  20. I haven't changed my fog lights yet, but I really need to. You can see how yellow they are when compared to the PIAA low beams....
  21. I used a tank of 87 for the first and last time a week ago. The car ran 100% normal-no pinging/other noises, but the fuel economy sucked. 22 on the highway is just not acceptable to me. Next tank was Exxon 93 on the hwy run, and the econ went back up to a perfectly acceptable 26.6 mpg. So, the car runs perfectly fine on 87, but you have to pick between saving a few dollars at the pump or making it up(plus more) in the long run with better fuel mileage.
  22. No, you just unravel some tape on the wire. It's been a while since we did mine, but undoing the tape is essentially the entire job. I have no idea what it does to the system, but believe me, it works-my steering wheel used to go to every position but the one I wanted, but now, it works fine.
  23. Glad to help! My '95 has 256k miles and runs like a real champ! Best of luck in your search!!
  24. The reason Chrysler markets the term "Hemi" is because it harks back to their 60s and 70s muscle car days. Pretty smart of them if you ask me. ← It's very smart of them. Their marketing group must be outstanding to have made such a big fuss about a ho-hum(imo) engine. I'd pick the Volvo since the Explorer isn't a choice! The 300 is pretty, but I think that's about it. lol
