  1. I find that my '95 is slow to fire up when the engine is cold. It takes a few seconds when it's cold, but when it's warm, probably a second or less. My battery is only a few months old, so I don't think that it's the culprit. My starter was changed some 150,000 miles ago, so I hope that the slow starting is not a sign of things to come. Just out of curiosity, how do your start-up times match up to these cars (I think I have one of each from slow to fast): Here's my car's first start of the day (taken a few days ago): http://members.cox.net/bchata3/'95%20LS.MPG A '92...really slow to start, I think slower than mine-- a weaker sounding start if nothing else.: http://members.cox.net/bchata2/Blue%20'92%20LS.MPG I think this '93 cold starts exactly how the LS should start-up--not too fast, not to slow: http://members.cox.net/bchata3/Black%20'93%20LS.MPG And, this '92 is warmed up; my '95 starts exactly like this when it's warm: http://members.cox.net/bchata3/Beige%20'92%20LS.MPG
  2. Yes, it is. I changed my rear shocks without removing the rear driveshafts. I didn't completely remove the rear parcel shelf either; it's flexible enough for you to be able to squeeze the air ratchet in there without removing it. ;)
  3. I saw an article like that in CR, but it was in an older issue. I think they tested LCD tvs in that same issue? I enjoy reading that magazine for comedic purposes because you never know what product they are going to like because it usually changes from sentence to sentence. LOL The biases really come in their auto issue....wow!Personally, I love our Oreck. I think CR put them pretty low on the report card, but I've never used a better vacuum. Ours is 5 years old, and it has never had a single problem. Plus, Oreck has offices/factories in the two states that I live in (LA and MS)! :D
  4. There's a bunch for me, but I have had the pleasure of meeting a few LOC'ers in person already: Marty in Chicago (Gumart1), Ralph in Lafayette (RFeldes), and Josh Dallas and Slidell (ArmyofOne). :D
  5. Hahaha It worked great for me and caused no problems. I'm not talking about sending 500psi through there; I could see that causing damage. I used 75 or 100 psi, I think. I first poured some water in the drain holes to soften the mud or whatever up, and then used the compressed air to blow it out, and sure enough it came out through the drain holes below the car, and the water drains out of the car instead of on my head! LOL
  6. Your sunroof drains are probably a little backed up. My roof used to leak in the exact same spot only when it would rain really hard, but blowing compressed air through the sunroof drains solved my problem!
  7. That's great news! Isn't it nice when the problem is from something simple like a fuse! :D I keep a pack of those fuses in my trunk after I went through this.....I can do without a lot of things, but my air conditioner most certainly is not one of them!!! I wonder if the wire isn't tangled or cut up on something because I don't have any issues with the length of that wire in my car. The part that was loose on my ash tray was the cigarette lighter itself. After I retightened the lighter, it has been fine. Getting to the lighter is somewhat tricky. Popping the wood trim out from around the console is easy, as is removing the ashtry assembly from the wood trim. I'd love to know how they assemble these things because when I took mine apart two springs that came flying out (like one of those fake jars of peanuts with the springs in them. LOL) never would go back in properly--it's not the end of the world, the ashtray door doesn't spring open like it's supposed to, but it doesn't bother me since I have my sat radio mounted right there. Once you start taking everything apart it's pretty self explanitory. ;)
  8. I have a mini sized Shop Vac that I use for the car, and I love it. My dog rides in the car all the time, and she sheds like crazy, but the Shop Vac removes all of the hair with great ease.
  9. I compare prices at http://www.lexus-parts.com and http://www.newlexusparts.com for the best deals on parts. Newlexusparts is usually cheaper because they have free shipping, and another plus is, they have an extensive online catalog so that you don't have to email a request to them if you want a part that isn't on their list of common parts.
  10. That happened to me one time, and a new fuse cured the problem. I was about ready to pull off the road and cry because it was in the heat of summer when all of the sudden the climate control goes blank. The climate control in my '95 is linked to the cigarette lighter fuse; I replaced the fuse, and I was back in business. The root of my problem was the cigarette lighter, it came loose and would blow the fuse if you touched it. I tightened the lighter, replaced the fuse, and it has been fine since.
  11. WOW..... Do you remember where he purchased it from? It was at an auction, in Colorado I think. He said it was a bank repo; the car was just beautiful! ;)
  12. I haven't, but I saw that some guy on Club Lexus bought a '98 LS with air, nav, chrome, 90k miles, and exc shape for $6,400 (and that includes taxes and tags) a few weeks ago. That car is well worth probably 2x the price he paid, so $10k-$12k for a 430 with 100k+ miles sounds about right considering that this guy got about 50% off his '98.
  13. They aren't needed; it's not a life or death item. The increase in aerodynamics must be extremely minor because my car consumes no more gas and is equally as noisey as it was with the undercover in place. There are plenty of quiet, smooth running cars that do not have these undercovers. To me, it's like those oil addatives--if they were that wonderful, everyone would use them. :whistles: That undercover isn't going to protect the car from anything serious. If the piece of debris is big enough to punch holes in heavy duty, metal engine componets, then a dinky little piece of plastic isn't going to help much if any at all. Canopy where did yours break? I think the first bolt or two on the pass side of mine fell out while traveling down the interstate, and as the cover got ground on the pavement, more of the bolts were ripped out. I look back on the day when I tossed that piece of garbage in the trash can with great fondness! :D
  14. I'd just toss it out--that's what I did when mine broke (one of the screws fell out of my undercover while traveling down I55, and a good portion of the cover was actually ground off, so it went in the trash can!). Throwing that cover away was the best thing I've ever done! The bottom side of the engine is just as clean as it was before, oil changes are a cake walk, and my fuel mileage hasn't changed either, so I'm very happy!
  15. Those prices are not too bad considering the competition. I love all of those safety features and 19 speakers of ML audio, wow!!! RX, I'm going to edit the title of this thread so that is someone tries searching for this they'll have a better chance of finding it.
  16. That's my vote. I've never understood the idea behind buying a nice car only to drive a tin can 6 days/week. Sell the Corolla, and find another dealer who will address your problems. That's good that the shop foreman is nice, but his kindness isn't making your car any better, and you should get a lot more than kindness for $110/hour and highly marked up parts. Find a shop who will take care of your car's issues, buy a set of winter tires, and enjoy this car that you are so attached to. ;) Wear it out? You've still got a long way to go before you wear out a car that is capable of easily reaching 300k+ miles.
  17. I'm seeing that your warning is at 0%. If those blue boxes were dark blue instead of light blue, then you'd have a warning, but everything looks fine to me. Everyone has those boxes. ;)
  18. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to close this. "If your status is New Club Member then you are not allowed to post in this forum. 19. Congrats on the new car, and welcome to the club! ;) The p/n for the filter is 90915-YZZD3. Expect to pay $4-$6 depending on your dealer. Has the timing belt ever been changed?
  20. That's easy. I can parallel park pretty easily, so the distronic plus would be a far greater convience feature to me. According to Car and Driver, it took them about 20 seconds to set the boundaries for the parallel parking (it was obviously a preproduction model, so it could, possibly change.). I couldn't imagine sitting in a busy street for 20 seconds setting this up when I could be parked and out of the car in that amount of time. Would I rather have some worthless (other than impressing your neighbors) parking do-dad, or something that I can actually use like a cruise control that can bring my car to a halt and then accelerate it back up to speeds exceeding 120mph such as MB's distronic plus? I'd pick the Distronic Plus in an instant--it's an amazing piece of technology.
  21. You can attach them using the prompts that you see when you click "add reply," or if you host them in a gallery, just use the image tags to link them to this post.
  22. Denny, I ordered them from Sewell-www.lexus-parts.com.
  23. Have yall noticed any improvements in your fuel mileage after switching to the K&N filter?
  24. Their's no doubt about that one--I think the same can be said for Acura as well! I think Mercedes and BMW are perceived better than Lexus though. All of that aside, I think Infiniti sure is making a more attractive line up...
  25. That's the funniest thing I've heard all day! ;) hahaha
