  1. I follow, but in my mind, it would be like comparing a DTS to a Mustang (obviously I'm exaggerating, but I'm just making a point.). But, I guess you have to bend the rules because their are no true competitors for the ES. The only thing I'd feel comfortable comparing the ES to is the Avalon, but the Avalon isn't as classy.
  2. Plug your VIN in at the owners section on lexus.com, and it should tell you the name of the color. That's a sharp looking car; it looks like new! ;)
  3. The same thing happened to me when my cigarette lighter worked its way loose (I could rattle it with my finger) and kept blowing the fuse. I tightened it up, and it has been fine.

    Bad Mofo

Wow!!! I love how the exhaust blew the strap back when he gave it some gas!
  5. I can't remember any off the top of my head, and I don't care enough to search and find them. LOL I'd say this forum is about in the middle as far as coming down on other brands is concerned....I know their are worse ones other there though. What I meant is that the ES is comparable to the C in terms of price and is comparable to the E in size. Otherwise, they they are very different cars. I've driven the ES350, E/C class--each have very different driving experiences which should not be the case if the cars are comparable. The ES is a cruiser, and the others are not. I think the closest thing you can compare to an ES is the Avalon (it's not a luxury mark, and the interior materials are different, but they are similar in many other ways.).I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that compare the Germans to the Lexus ES. I think it's pointless though. I don't know how you can fairly compare a RWD sports sedan like the 530 to a FWD V6 crusier like the ES. A GS would be fair, but not an ES. Maybe I've been living under a rock, but the notion of comparing a ES350 to a 530i or M35 is completely foreign to me. Yes, they are high-end cars and are probably similar in size, but that's as far as I can see any similarities.
  6. Not here, I would never let it stand ;) LOL Maybe different posts pop-up on my computer because I've seen quite the contrary. I'm not saying that those posts come up daily, but given the oppertunity to some members, their will be trash talk about anything other than the high and mighty Toyotas. I mostly agree except for the parts about an ES competing with a C or E class other than in price with the C and size with the E.

    What If?

It's definitely much more expensive to piece the car together yourself. I think Lexus charged something like $1,000 or $2,000 for air suspension in the LS400s. You can buy one (maybe 2) air strut(s) at the parts counter for that much money (not to mention the rest of the componets that go along with the system.)!!
  8. In all fairness, there are just as many people in the Lexus forums that would say the same things about Mercedes or any other nonToyota brand. How so? The E class and ES350 are completely different cars. The GS is Lexus's E class competitor. Here is a much better link to the pics of the C class: http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm/newsi...-class-revealed I like the new C class; it looks pretty sharp. The headlights with the little eyelids are reminiscent of BMW which is sad because MBs are usually very distinct. The interior looks great too. I'd get whatever model comes with the hood ornament! B)
  9. Yeah, I'm not much on light blue exteriors either, but the blue I was referring to was the blue on the dash, like this: ....that makes the interior borwn, beige, and blue. That's too much for me! I guess if her mom has one, then the Accord is completely out of the question! Like they (I'm not sure who "they" is though. Probably a bunch of men who are always in trouble.), "it's easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission!" LOL :whistles:
  10. Around here you can get a new LE for $18k. I've looked at used late model Accords and Camrys for a friend, and I found that it's really not worth buying used unless you are looking at something that is 3+ years old because Accords and Camrys hold their value too well.If she thinks that the Camry is too commonplace, what about the Accord? I like the Accord better than the Camry. The interior and exterior styling is much better than the Camry to me, and the Accord has better fit/finish. Ohhhh, and the LED tail lights that would seal the deal for me! I really think that you'll be ok with a 4 banger over the 6, especailly since you won't be driving it everyday. I like the new Camry a lot, but I just can't get past the baby blue trim around the stereo/ac controls.
  11. What, the intake hose..... or the lift kit?? I don't see anything too wrong here...
  12. I just saw Cars. What a great movie!!! The animations were A++, especially when Sally and McQueen went for a cruise....wow! I found the themes and morals to be very adult like...not so much of a children's movie to me (maybe I was over analyzing things!). Larry the Cable Guy was just excellent too!
  13. My old ES300 did exactly this right before the transmission died. We replaced the VSS, but that didn't do anything. The problem was the transmission. I hope this isn't the case for you, but an OD off light is usually the sign of very bad things to come.
  14. I've heard that one about the gunk at the bottom of the tank too! It's priceless! I run my car far in to the E because I hate having to stop for fuel. I've never had any problems, and my car has 287k miles. On a pure interstate run, I'll go at least 500 miles on a tank, and there are still a couple gallons left. My low fuel light comes on when I have 5 gallons left--that sure is a lot of remaining fuel to have a warning light come on. To me, this is like worring about starting the car with the a/c compressor on.....it might make a difference after 500,000 miles. LOLAhhh, good ole GM truck fuel pumps! We replaced the one in our '99 Suburban once. You can tell whether or not they work before you even leave the house...if you turn the key and your neighbors can hear the pump whining, then you are good to go! LOL
  15. LOL Funny enough those couplings you sent me are still sitting here waiting to be installed too! One of these days they will make their way in to the car! My '95 always starts up smoothly and quietly even when it sits for a while, but there is a little smoke and the smell of unburnt fuel for the first few seconds while the computer gets the mixture figured out.
  16. I agree! Road and Track really let the new Camry have it in the Feb issue...."Toyota sedans have never throbbed with driving passion, but at least they could boast of impeachable quality. This Camry was impeachable. A few trim pieces hung loose. Some dash panels didn't match up. The rear-seat armrest cup holder fell out with only the slightest persuasion, leaving behind a ragged hole in the fabric. If fit and finish ceases to be Toyota's obsession, what will define the company's products? We shudder to imagine." It comes as no shock to me that Kia and Honda took first honors in fit/finish. Those new Kias/Hyundais are really nice cars! I couldn't agree more!
  17. The fact that you are getting the right mileage on the hwy would make me believe that your car is fine. City is certainly going to be different for each of us. I like to read the fine print on the gas mileage section of a window sticker to see what's the lowest that it will go down to! When I'm in the city (small town), my average driving time is about 5 minutes, so my gas mileage sucks (usually around 13-15mpg when it's supposed to be much higher...like 18 or 19.). I know if I was driving more than 5 minutes where the car actually had a chance to warm up, my mileage would be much better. They test fuel economy in a lab: http://www.fueleconomy.gov/!Removed!/how_tested.shtml . LOL
  18. I wouldn't worry about the weight....all that means is that you need to buy the top level V6 with 300 hp! B) Any car looks teriffic in silver!!!! GM/Ford/DC have all been improving quality while Toyota is slacking off while focusing in on how to roll more cars off the line. A '97 Toyota Camry is far better than an '07 (I guess they're putting all of their money toward developing that silly looking Tundra.), but a '07 Tahoe is a far superior to the '97 in terms of quality.
  19. I've ordered (and some were free because Apple likes teachers!) a bunch of things through their education discount, and I've never had to supply them with any ID. From what I've seen, it seems like anyone could claim to be a student or teacher to get the discount. :whistles: You will hate Verizon in its entirety if you try using the phone in the South (it's slightly better in Texas) or Midwest--it seems like I haven't had a cell phone in the past two years I've been with VZW. LOL They must not own any towers in those places because the service is aweful. I just switched to Cingular, and I no longer have to hold my head in the exact spot to get reception in my house. :D :D
  20. It's not too bad! The interior is an A+ (for that kind of car.)!!!!!
  21. It looks as though they have gone the wrong direction with the front end styling. The back end looks better, but the front is not looking too good. I'm hoping it looks better in person! The Navi isn't too bad. The front end needs some minor tweaking; I'd have the chrome at the top of the grill and the section in the lower valance painted to match the body color. I'd consider it for a lux suv.....The GX470 is a wonderful looking and driving car, but the hearse style swinging back door would be a complete deal breaker for me. Ahhhh, much better with only 30 seconds of editing in Paint LOL.....
  22. That is a great looking car!! It is probably one of the best looking Caddys to date. They should feel like tanks going down the road with curb weights starting at 3800lbs!! OMG, what did Ford do to my 500 sedan? I hope it looks better in person. The new Malibu looks pretty sharp! As for the ISF, what's so influential about being one of the last manufactures to show up to the game with a performance car division??
  23. They offered me a free Razr when it was time to renew my contract (I bet it wouldn't be hard to convince them to give you a Razr.). I told them what they could go and do with that little toy phone! ;) LOL It would take more than a free razr to convince me to keep their service. That ipod phone looks awesome! I'd never buy one because multifunction phones don't trip my trigger, but it looks like another fantastic product from Apple. $500 is a not a bad price for a phone like that!
  24. Yes, of course it's bald in that spot, notice that's where the tread is hardly attached to the tire and is swollen up like a beach ball. Your tires would look the same if your treads weren't attached. And at any rate, my alignment was always in spec; you would have to neglect the alignment for years to get a tire to be completely bald on one spot and healthy treads left in the other.
  25. I don't know exactly what radiators go for, but the labor time for this is very brief, ~1 hour to remove and reinstall. $250 doesn't sounds like too bad of a deal for everything...
