  1. Agreed, you either need to lubricate or replace your courtesy switches on your doors: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/electrical/fcourtesy.html
  2. I just read about the Avenger in the latest issue of Car and Driver, and the last sentence of the second to last paragraph is quite noteworthy, "And our 22,000 mile test car was not only the least expensive in this group-by a wide margin-but also more rattle-free than the Camry." They said the 4cyl engine made a lot of strange noises, but they loved the fuel economy. Wikipedia says that the 2.4 is a "world engine" developed by DC, Mitsubishi, and Hyundai, and some of them are built Michigan-the rest in S Korea and Japan.
  3. This probably one of my favorite shots of my '95 that I took several years ago....
  4. $131 @ Carson Toyota-Lexushttp://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...playCatalogid=0
  5. Congrats!! My LS came with a number of torn items inside, and I found all of my replacements on car-part.com for very good prices. I'd just replace the steering wheel. I found a pristine replacement for my LS for $100, and at that price, it's just not worth the effort of trying to repair it.As for the Pontiac, why would it ride like a LS? Completely different class and type of car. Here's what my $100 steering wheel looked like after I installed it....
  6. I've always gapped my iridium plugs becuase the Lexus repair manual says that new plugs should be gapped to 0.8mm in the '95 LS. I just recently bought a set of 8 NGK Iridium IX plugs for $50 shipped on ebay!
  7. My key got stuck yesterday afternoon. I had to disconnect the battery to get my key out. Then, I sprayed some silicone lubricant in to the ignition, cylced the key a few times, and she's good as new now!
  8. This is the brake booster vacuum line that will suck in the seafoam: No brake fluid is going to come out. Unplug it and plug it back in after the seafoam goes in.
  9. I couldn't agree more. My car gets lower mpg with 87 gas. It's been a while since I tried it, but it was 2 or 3 mpg less. The average fuel economy was left out of the original post which is a huge factor in this equation, and in the case of my old LS, it proves that 87 costs more to run.20,000 miles/22mpg=900 gallons of 93 octane @ $3.10/gallon=$2,818 20,000 miles/20mpg=1,000 gallons of 87 octane @ $2.90/gallon=$2,900 I have a savings of $82 a year by running premium. Like SK said, pay me now or pay me later.
  10. The LS400 does not have this feature. My '95 doesn't, and nor did the umteen other LS400s that I've driven. Every single one required that you hold the key until it has started. It's a twist and hold instead of twist and relsease. I sure wish the LS400 had that feature because the auto start and lane change turn signals are some of my favorite things in German cars.
  11. Hahaha very good, DC! Have yall heard the one about it being "too bad Hillary didn't marry OJ!" LOL Oh yeah, I just got this one in an email this afternoon:
  12. You must be putting too much oil on your filter because I've been using a K&N filter in my Lexus for a long time now with no problems whatsoever.
  13. By far, the most scenic drive I've been on is the Road to Hana in Maui...the most breathtaking scenery everywhere you look. Also, there are some parts of I65 in Kentucky that have some decent looking mountainous sights (nothing spectacular by any stretch of the imagination, but decent stuff for an interstate).
  14. I have BFG Traction TAs on my '95, and I love them. I had MXV4 tires on my car before these, and the TAs have been equally as smooth and quiet as the Michelins. Plus, I find the wet traction to be much better than the Michelins. I have no quality issues to mention either--no wear, balance, or other issues to report. I have 36,000 miles on my TAs, and they still have 8/32 of rubber. It's a good thing that I like them because it looks like I'm going to have them for a long while!
  15. If you use Sewell, make sure you find their current discount code here: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=118 Also, you might want to try Carson Toyota/Lexus. I just ordered some stuff from them, and they were far cheaper than anyone else. You can also find a discount code in the link above.
  16. Maybe the hinges on his car are defective because I didn't have any trouble getting in to the Malibu that I sat in--seemed like a regular old door to me. Also, the remote start should work from pretty far away. I've used (and LOVED) the feature in a rental Impala, and I had no problem firing the car up from inside the hotel room which was quite a distance away.
  17. I think you are right! I guess that's why the PT Cruiser guy was complaining and saying it's not fair....sorry, what's unfair is all of the people you pi_sed off by going less than the speed limit and not yielding to faster traffic in the left lane. This guy seems like an extra special moron, I mean if you are going to drive in the left lane, the least you can do is move over when a fully marked Police crusier is on your tail. :chairshot: Another slight annoyance of mine (although no where near the left lane morons), are these people who have gigantic rims on their cars and have to nearly come to a complete halt to hit a train track or pot hole when everyone else is going 30mph-40mph over the tracks or holes.
  18. Oh yes, and aren't they beautiful little cars!! The first gen CTS's exterior was awful to me, but they really knocked it out the park this time! I wonder how small the interior is though? I can actually fit in to the STS pretty well even though it's hard to get in to.
  19. Congrats on your new car!! If I had to guess the price, I'd guess somewhere around $22k (maybe a little lower since there must be something special about the car to prompt you to drive almost 350 miles to go get it.) which is what they are going for on eBay. You must have a lot of your height in your torso because I am only 1" taller than you, but I can easily reach the 430's pedals with the seat slid all the way back the few times I've driven them. They are wonderful cars, but it just kills me that Lexus refuses to let the seats slide back further when there is ample room to do so.
  20. I'd fix the PS fluid leak, and then, change the alternator. I'd get this done asap so that you don't get stranded and have to tow the car home.
  21. I thought that was odd too, but I just checked my factory repair manual, and it confirms it. It's certainly the first time I've heard that little bit of info!
  22. I especailly like the new Buicks and Caddys that they are coming out with! The new Malibu is a really great looking, exciting new car too (It should sell really well!), if only I could fit in it! :whistles:
  23. I hope every law enforcement agency sees this news story (click the pic of the Crown Vic and PT Crusier for the video) and takes similar action: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/01/11/hallelu...s-in-left-lane/ Just last night I was stuck behind some imbecile blockading the left lane by cruising next to the person in the right lane. God, if only they would start locking these people up. :whistles: Hats off to the Oklahoma State Police for cracking down on this problem!
  24. I'd bet that newer software would help you out. My Streetpilot has the version 8 maps, and it has surprised me with the amount of new roads that it is able to find.
