  1. Lookin good Josh! B) Man, those pics are bright though!!
  2. I had the same problem, and I was sick of looking at that warning light, so I just changed all of the bulbs--problem solved. Lift the third brake light housing up and pull it towards the front of the car, and it will come out.
  3. Lexus says the '01 LS430 goes 0-60 in 6.2 seconds, and from the googling I did, the '90 300zx Nonturbo makes it to 60 in about 7 seconds. Your Lexus would win! B)
  4. Looks just wonderful Josh!! I bet it feels great to not be "blue" anymore!!!!
  5. LOL Nicely done! Just when I thought the new Sequoia was ugly enough, they add an Olds Silhouette grill, and it gets even worse! haha
  6. Exactly!! Here's the most recent one: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=18493 I think we all get to this point as time progresses and the odometer numbers rise. You have to get more picky about what repairs you do to an old car that you might not keep too much longer and won't be worth diddly when you trade it in.500K...that's quite impressive!!!
  7. I bought just the pulley from a Lexus dealer, and it was only $45! Here's the part number: 16603-0w010 (from what I'm seeing it works for 95-00).
  8. I'd start with checking the ignition components. Check engine light?
  9. I buy from whoever is cheapest at the time (and it's important to check them all because sometimes their prices vary greatly.) from the following: Park Place: http://www.newlexusparts.com Thompson Lexus: http://www.irontoad.com Sewell: http://www.lexus-parts.com Carson Lexus: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...m?siteid=214915 Lexus of Brookfield: http://www.lexuspartsmall.com (or contact LOC member 2jztwinturbo) I've had nothing but good experiences with all of them.
  10. Congrats!!! Considering the 90k service runs about $1500, that's not a bad deal seeing that you bought a low mileage car from a Lexus dealer. Enjoy it!! B)
  11. LOL David might want to take a look it his company's website.... http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...amp;catalogid=2
  12. I searched a couple LS430s on youtube, and it it looks like it is normal for them to go in to the redline during WOT acceleration...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LmdFHijNww I think they are still too new to rightly deserve that title although I've never heard of any problems with the 3uz-fe's. I'm not sure I'll call them bullet-proof until they are 15 years old, have 275k miles, and still goes like a bat out of hell--that's bullet-proof to me. B)
  13. Is there a write up on here on how to fix the cigarette lighter or should I just go ahead and try to attempt to take the console apart and tighten it/fix it.I wrote some directions on how to get to the cigarette lighter. It's hardly a tutorial, but it'll at least point you in the right direction:http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...&hl=ashtray If you don't have the time/desire to disassemble everything any time soon, just unplug the power cable that goes to the cig lighter (should take about 2 minutes). That'll at least save you the pain in the !Removed! of having to change the fuse everytime it blows.
  14. For the differences, the most notable additions in 2004 were the restyled front end (and slightly different tail lights with LEDs) and the smart access, but I don't know how notable it really is since you still have to twist a knob to start the car--no push button. A lot of people really prefer the new front clip of the 2004-2006, and I think it's a couple ticks quicker to 60 with the newer transmission. To me, I'm not sure those changes warrant the extra $$ over the older 430s.
  15. I really like the new Maxima; I like that its got some style. B) I'd like to see what other rims they are going to offer since there's something that doesn't seem quite right about the ones in the picture. I had an '08 Altima 2.5S for a rental the other day, and I absolutely loved it! It had a lot of room even for me, and it's a lot more fun to drive than a Sonata or Camry. The CVT is an interesting animal especially when you have it pinned merging on the hwy, and it just hangs at redline while your speed increases. The 4cyl engine was a little noisy, but it had plenty of pep and got over 33mpg on the hwy. The Altima is a lot of car for the money (just over $20k), and I LOVED the standard keyless start and entry! So cool!
  16. That's great news, Ralph! I'm glad they got you fixed up nicely!! B) Yeah, I'd imagine that a 200 horse V6 would be insufficient for a car as big as the Lucerne! I actually sat in one of these at the Buick/GMC dealer the other day when I went with my father to look at the new Yukon, and the Lucerne a lot more comfortable than my LS400, but it's not quite up there with the big boys--MBs and BMWs. I LOVE the bench seats though!

    Car Tax

I think my parents pay vehicle taxes in Orleans parish (I'd suspect that they might in Kenner and Westwego too since they, like NO, have inspection stickers that are different from the other parishes in LA.), but I don't up here in Lincoln parish. I think the registration is about $40 every 2 years and $10 annual inspection with no emissions!
  18. You don't have to remove the steering wheel. I changed my rack a few months back (it was getting sloppy most likely due to 300k+ miles. Replaced with a boneyard rack from a '96 with 60k miles. What a huge difference it made!), and I didn't remove/disconnect anything other than the power steering lines, the steering knuckle, mounting brackets, and tie rod ends. I'm a big fan of changing out some parts "while I'm in there." Here are some PNs for the rack grommets and tie rod end:LH Tie rod end: 45470-49015 $58.55 (don't know the RH side since nc211 gave me an extra tie rod he had in his garage.) Grommet: 45516-50020 $20.58 Grommet: 45517-50020 $19.81 This was done very last minute, so I had to buy the parts from Lexus of New Orleans. I'm sure you could do better ($$$) online.
  19. You need to compress you picture so that it is less than 20KB (my computer shows that your original is about 50KB, and that's too big.). Like this...
  20. It's on the passenger's side of the engine, near the distributor. Pics... Testing values:
  21. We've all done stupid things, but trespassing on to an air strip and going 150+ mph is in a class of it's own. Stupid driver, and the passengers are just as stupid for going along for the ride. Sadly, they all paid dearly for that decision. I think they could easily nab the Darwin Award. LOL
  22. Guilty! :snoooorrrtttt: LOL It helps distract me from the thought that I'm paying $3.45/gallon!! That's because they spend all their time covering the man who is going to save us all from ourselves...I mean Barack Obama. Who knew a politician could run so far on something so vauge and empty as "hope" and "change."
  23. Maybe, it depends on how it drives. It would be nice if it was already done, but let's hope you won't experience these problems in the first place! Take a look at this thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...&hl=jerkingThese problems creep up at differing mileages. Mine was replaced before 50,000 miles, while it seems like most people see the problems closer to 100k miles. Here's the TSB... 41.pdf
