  1. Lexus will send you an owners manual for free by request at lexus.com/owners. In the mean time, here is the PDF for the fuses....Fuse.do.pdf
  2. I just made an order from them (oem parts), and I used discount code "cloem" for 5% off. Even though their website accepted the code, they removed the discount when I got my invoice and parts. I just sent them an email to see what the deal is. They don't process/ship orders nearly as fast as Sewell (they had to order ball joints for me. Really??), but I guess them make up for it with much better prices on their OEM parts.
  3. That's the tank average. I only flip to "current" mpg for amusement since it's all over the place especially with all of the hills we have here. Check for leaves/pine needles/etc. in between your radiator and ac condenser. They really like to hide there in my car. Once you get your car out on the interstate, I can't imagine you won't see great mileage like I'm getting as long as it doesn't need any maintinance. When I say 28+mpg, I'm not doing any stop-and-go driving at all. I fill the car with gas 15seconds from the interstate, set the cruise, and watch the tank average climb.
  4. Me too; a '00 model with less than 90,000 miles is worth too much ($10k-$12k according to KBB private party) to just let the insurance company off the hook.
  5. My temp needle in my '99 sits on the third line sloping down a little.... It's hard to tell if your mileage is on par or not since mixed city/interstate is tough to judge. Strictly on the interstate, I see 28-28.5 mpg in my '99 (cruise set at 75-80mph with the a/c).
  6. Carson has it for $315... http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/ind...playCatalogid=0
  7. My '95 used to randomly throw a P0420/P0430 (maybe 4-5 times over the 4 years/90k miles I had it). I would clear the code and it would go away for a while. I just considered it a "quirk" since I was getting excellent fuel mileage and performance.
  8. Thanks Captain! I guess I don't let up much. No, I'm just a HUGE fan of cruise control. I think the OCD works out well for keeping the car clean since it takes no time to wash and vacuum it if I do every week - week and a half compared to if I space the washes out farther. Thanks for the tips! I'm definitely going to make sure that there is some kind of sign on the car before I hand the key over.
  9. Thanks Steve! Wow, what a nice compliment, thank you! I really do love this car; there aren't many cars out there that age as gracefully as LS400s do. I've got a service appointment next week, and I'm trying to decide on how many DO NOT WASH signs I need to make and put on the car, so they don't do me a "favor" and wash the car because I'm not going to be a happy camper if they do! haha
  10. Congrats, that's a great looking car! And WOW, only 45k miles! It looks like the air suspension is in good shape too since it's sitting high and level. It looks like it just needs a set of floor mats, and it'll be perfect!
  11. It's an alternator problem. The multiple warning light problem has been reported on this forum many times, and it has been fixed by replacing the alternator which often times fails from a leaky power steering pump. ;)
  12. Having owned a Gen2 and a Gen2.5 (95 and 99), I can tell you that they are both wonderful cars. I've seen LS400s of all years make it to 300,000 miles with no engine/tranny rebuilds. If you like the way the '97 looks, I'd buy that one since it's probably cheaper than the '98, provided they are both in similar condition.
  13. Awesome car! Looks like it's in mint condition! You're going to love it! B)
  14. Congrats!!! I'm sure he'll make the RIGHT choice and go for the LS when the time comes!!! hahaha :D
  15. That's terrible news Josh, but I know you'll pull through. You and your family will be in our prayers.
  16. See below for the latest pics...
  17. My '99 LS with 167k (well maintained and no mods of any kind) gets 13mpg in the city (5-10 minute trips, stop and go, staying under 40mph etc. Light foot.), and 28.5mpg on the interstate with the cruise set near 80mph and the a/c full blast 9 or 10 months out of the year. I wish I could slow it down to 70mph to see if it would hit 29-30mpg on the interstate, or even higher if I would stay on back roads going 60mph--those speed trap infested back roads are like torture though. As good as the mileage is, it kills me that 80mph = 2,600rpms. Imagine if 80mph was only 2,000-2,200 rpms like it is in most cars....
  18. Call your local Lexus dealer, and ask them who they send their upholstery work to (if no one chimes in). I did that when I wanted some upholstery work done to my former ES300, and my dealer referred me to an outstanding upholsterer.
  19. I use Black Magic Tire Wet, and I'm very pleased with it. It doesn't sling all over the car, and I can still see gloss a week after spraying the tires which works out well for me since I give the car a quick wash and vac every week. It hasn't rained in a very long time, so I can't recall what effect it has on the Black Magic. I also like that you can adjust the width of the spray by rotating the nozzle.
  20. Steve, I'm glad you told me about this stuff in an old email. This stuff dries to a 100% matte finish. I like the way it smells too. It reminds me of Griots leather conditioner. I haven't had the chance to do the upholstery and wood, but I plan to when I can find the time.
  21. I just replaced my hood supports with some that I won on ebay. I paid $55 for the pair shipped, the set came with the 2 supports as well as the 4 ball screws (so, installation takes 3 minutes). They fit perfectly and hold the hood nice and high. Sure beats paying $150+ for the OEM supports. This is what I bought: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...em=150293993947 What they send you looks exactly like it does on the auction except that the screws are black (One side had already been installed when I took the pic).....
  22. $3.65 at Shell for 87 octane. No mid or premium grade fuels are available because of the hurricanes. I guess I'll have to go get some octane booster when it's time to refuel!
