  1. No, guess I didn't notice, nevermind.
  2. jcrome04, did you see this..... ? http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400-foru...tml#post4628300
  3. Um, behind the radio? http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/headunit.html
  4. This thread is a good read: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...?showtopic=6583 I did a "+valve +fluid +filter +hose" search to find it.
  5. They're hard to fix, I've tried twice and failed, I ended up replacing them. The problem is there isn't enough plastic where the "loop" is that holds the rocker down. Once it breaks, your toast. The lock switch and window lock can be removed individually from the whole assembly and replaced by itself. Buy a new assembly, remove the door/window lock switch and place it in yours. Here is a current listing of an assembly without the wood that may work: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/LEXUS-LS400...sQ5fAccessories This one is in rough shape, but gives you a better look: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-94-LEXUS...sQ5fAccessories They come up often on eBay, you should be able to find a good one for less then $50USD.
  6. Welcome to the forum!! Sorry to hear of your trouble. This thread may help: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=56714
  7. If you don't get any takers, you can get one at Harbor Freight in Gaithersburg, MD for $12.99 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=37824
  8. @GKLCPA, that tutorial is a worst case scenario. Usually the masts can be removed using the button sequence, no need to disassemble. Masts can be found on eBay for much less... http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksi...-All-Categories
  9. masoncous, welcome to the forum. The teeth on the nylon cable may be worn out, or less likely broken. Either way, this tutorial will help: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/powerantenna.html
  10. It's the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV). Clean it, replace it or remove/plug it. Do a search to find theads discussing each option. I went the replace route on my 90.
  11. I replied in your other thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=58465
  12. Yep, I'm here....... it's on the column. You don't have to buy the whole column, do you? Ask them if they'll sell it separately. Basic removal steps, as shown in the links of your other thread, are: 1) remove airbag (two torx screws and cable connector to front side of spiral cable assembly) , 2) remove steering wheel (17mm socket wrench then steering wheel puller), 3) unscrew spiral cable assembly with Phillips screw driver then disconnect the cable connector to the column. Done. But, before you go through the trouble of removing it, bring a meter or other device to check continuity with you, to verify all leads have continuity from the front to back connector pins.
  13. The first part of this tutorial will help you with your disassembly: http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/headunit.html eBay is a good source for used Lexus parts, search for LS400. I've bought a couple window switches there. A few times, I've seen just the wood trim by itself so you may get lucky.
  14. Exactly, the contacts are worn sufficiently and not allowing enough current to pass through them to drive the starter motor. Buy the $34.95 kit from Nations, if you decide to remove the starter, the bypass will have to come off requiring you to buy the gaskets. I just removed the starter motor assembly allowing easier access to the solenoid. Just don't turn the motor assembly upside down like I did allowing the armeture to fall out, that was very stupid on my part. I was lucky to find a place to take it to that took it apart and cleaned it up. No, the starter is still a royal pain to get out, even with the bypass coming out easier for you 98+ owners. Check out the thread below, I have some links in there to a few good sites showing starter troubleshooting steps and what worn contacts look like: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=54532
  15. I considered that kit, and I'm sure it's fine but I ended up getting a kit from Nations Auto Electric linked in this thread: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400-foru...tml#post4191291 What you're thinking about doing, not physically removing the starter, is exactly what I ended up doing. However, since you have a 99, you don't have to contend with the EGR pipes that connect through the crossover pipe so you should have an easier go at removing the pipe and starter. Good luck.

  17. It's known officially as a Spiral Cable Assembly, but many call it a clockspring. I replaced mine in December. For me, it was just the horn that didn't work (pin 1). There are either 5 or 6 pins, two or more have lost continuity in your case. I don't know if they can be taken apart and fixed. Here it is listed for a 95: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_199502_LE...5.html?hl=84306 You can create an account on that site, enter your VIN and get the exact part number for your 99. I was fortunate to find one on eBay. Here is a current listing but unfortunately not for your model year (they're not interchangable): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lexus-LS-40...sQ5fAccessories Here is a tutorial on how to remove the steering wheel: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400-foru...ring-wheel.html If you go the eBay or recycle yard route, make sure you have them check continuity on all pins.
  18. This writeup should help you remove the carpet: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-400-300...et-removal.html
  19. Since I have a 95, I guess a few scuffs for $15 isn't bad. They're a little more than $25 now at Sewell, OEM Lexus Wheel Hub Ornament Sub-Assembly. However, Carson Toyota has one for $14.86, LINK, assuming it's the correct size. I'll have to give Gordon a call to verify. Probably because they're stock on about every MB around here. Larry, sorry if I've taken your tread too far Off Topic.
  20. PM member dcfish. He may be able to hook you up with an OEM sub for less than dealer cost. I bought one from him for my '90 a few years ago.
  21. The red arrow in this picture points to a bracket holding an electrical component, it had to be loosened and pried up before I could remove the manifold on my 95. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400-foru...tml#post4198559
  22. Well to answer my own reply, sort of.... I found these center caps: http://www.capitalwheels.com/store/custome...cat=&page=1 Does $15 each seem too good to be true or is that just a great deal? But to answer the OP, here is where I'm told the guy I bought my car from bought the wheels: L.A. Wheel & Tire - eBay Store: http://stores.shop.ebay.com/L-A-Wheel-And-...634Q2ec0Q2em322 Extra Sharp, I'd say. ;)
  23. @1990LS400, I have the exact same wheels as you. I like them a lot! Much nicer than the stock wheels I as on my '90. The only thing I don't like is that they came with blank chrome center caps with black logo "plates" glued on. I want to get them replaced.
