  1. That's super. I envy you. I wish I had a friend I could have given $150 to to replace mine last December. It's a royal pain. He may be asking for a few (or more) brews after he's done though.
  2. Get it before it's gone!!!! http://dallas.craigslist.org/ftw/for/1475571266.html
  3. billy, up a little early this morning, eh? I guess you missed my post #7. I linked that page and called out the PN. It's great of you to offer to help.... Here's someone that has 2 400's their parting out in Bedford (just listed today): http://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/pts/1485574055.html
  4. The solenoid valve doesn't appear to have it's own part number separate from the Pressure Control Valve Assembly, 44020. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1991_LEXU...GKA_4505.2.html Given that, I doubt you'll find anyone selling the solenoid by itself, much less the assembly from the rack. However, I would try craigslist in various cities. If you can't find one in your area that you can drive to, someone may be willing to ship it to you. Here's a couple listings for parts in my area: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/pts/1481809362.html http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/pts/1471013015.html Hey, how 'bout a parts car close to you: http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/1453682526.html
  5. If they deny it, pressure them. Explain that you know they caused the damage and how you know. Hopefully they'll concede and fix it when they understand you know what you're talking about. If not, file a complaint with the BBB.
  6. I too, had one of those "special Lexus hood supports" that came with my 95. I promptly replaced them with Mighty Lifts from AutoZone, part number C95029. I don't know who makes the Mighty Lifts, but they look awfully close to the StrongArms. Here's a thread with a link to another tutorial: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=56409 I think it's a Gen 1 problem. As they did cause the hood on my 90 to bow a little, but not on my 95. I'm still waiting for someone to find replacement struts for the trunk lid on a Gen 2: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/4143...s-problems.html
  7. Idiots? That's been said before. Yes, getting the rear water bypass off is a bear because of the lower EGR pipe. I gave up and rebuilt mine in place last December. Still going strong. http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/3248...n-progress.html Be patient and take your time...... LOTS of time. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=59858
  8. I agree, the clockspring most likely has gone bad. I bought mine on eBay. Here's a thread showing how to remove the steering wheel with pics showing the clockspring http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/4239...y-98-ls400.html http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls400/4202...n-98-ls400.html ADDED: Here is another thread talking about the clockspring: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=58307
  9. All over... http://www.berrymanproducts.com/Default.aspx?tabid=116 I'm not an expert, but I'm not sure I'd pour a fuel additive in the power steering system. I'd wait for someone else to confirm that it's okay before doing it.
  10. Mine are also out and never have had a chance to try #3: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ost&p=85215
  11. Bill, check this thread out: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=53524 The last post lists the epoxy used to fix it. May be worth a try.
  12. Go to toyodiy.com, register your VIN, then click on the Parts reference link and you'll be able to see diagrams showing you exactly what the part is and part number.
  13. Slightly overfilling should be fine, you do mean ATF, right? How low does it get? Do you see fluid on any of the hoses, rack? What about smoke on start up? Have you read any of the many threads on this forum? Some good recent ones.
  14. @97LS40, this may help: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=46555 I believe I did something similar the few times I tried a cassette adapter. It's prolly because there's not enough tension on the drive mechanism so it thinks the tape is messed up and ejects it. Obviously there's no tape in the adapter so I'm not sure how to "stiffen" it up should that be what's needed.
  15. Hey, sorry I went a little overboard there. I shouldn't take it out on you as I know you're very frustrated with your car right now. Let's see if we can get this figured out with you.
  16. ARE YOU NOT HEARING ME????? Clean things up so you CAN be sure. Once you know exactly where the leak is coming from, then you'll know what needs to be replaced. Until you do, you're starting to waste our time!!! Or at least getting on my nerves. :chairshot:
  17. dm, a link for your car is at the bottom if this page: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/ Search for "abs speed sensor" to list your parts.
  18. This may be a long shot or totally unfounded, but maybe the shudder you feel is a drop in PS pressure as the fluid is gushing out the leak point.
  19. I'm sorry the ACV plug didn't solve your problem. Like I said before, you've got to take a rag to everything and dry things up to see where the fluid is coming from. The return hose (shown in second pic) is fairly wet. Fluid appears to be high up under the hood so the return hose *could* be the cause. This diagram should help you identify the hoses: http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1991_LEXU...EPGKA_4503.html Back when I did a PS flush on my 90, I had a hard time removing the return hose and had to cut it. I replaced the short section between the reservoir and the pipe with transmission cooler hose. Again, dry things off to help determine the exact point where the fluid is coming from. It's just a guess until you do. Good job on vacuum hose fix by the way.
  20. "If you reply in the next 30 minutes, we'll double the 'Cash reward'!!! Reply now, operators are standing by."
  21. I agree, but I understand your frustration. I think you need to back up a little and try to determine exactly where the fluid is coming from. Get some rags and try to dry things up as best you can from the PS pump down. Once dry, start the car for a little while and see if that allows you to see where the fluid is coming from. It's hard to know with everything so wet in there. Before you can start doing anything, you have to know where the fluid is coming from. Hang in there, the car is up on the stand and the bottom is off. You're on your way.
  22. If I can't do it myself, I bring it to Whitey's Auto Repair near Scottsdale Rd and Thomas.
  23. Back in post 7 I linked a thread which had the following in post 72:
  24. more specific information is needed about what it's doing or not doing when it doesn't start. Does it turn over, just not fire? Only a click? Nothing?
  25. Yes, you can tuck the hoses out of the way or tie them to another hose. However, if you're seeing puddles under the car, plugging the hoses will only solve the embarrassing smoke on startup issue. The fluid you see on the ground is coming from somewhere else on the pump. I think you've got two issues with your pump. As I said before, you need to solve the "puddling" problem soon before it takes out your alternator. But doing what curiousB suggests is still worth a try as it won't take long to do and you'll still know very quickly if it stops the puddles or not.
