You can take your car to any service station-Goodyear service, toyota and honda, since the code readers they use are universal. I would suggest, visiting a good shop that carries the more expensive code readers, but be aware, their charges can be expensive. Keep us in the loop once you find out what's wrong with it.

Alright, this is what I say. Since so many of us prefer to use the Toyota coolant, can anyone tell me who makes the Toyota Coolant? Wandawood and monarch: Could you cite the source of your research? I'm just a little curious. Now, I'm going to add my two cents into this conversation. I personally can not guarantee what Peak, Prestone, and some of the other brands mentioned in the two threads I've been reading, put into their antifreeze. Toyota does guarantee their products, but since Toyota doesn't make their own brand of oil I need to know what brand are they using. From what I've learned over the past 5years of working in the race world, the best of the best oils, and chemicles are made by Redline, Motul, and Mobil 1. FIA, SCCA, INDY-Cart, and a bunch of Motorcycle racing leagues' sponsor the above three more than anything else. My business partner is a former AMA Rider, and his team used Redline. Since I'm starting a business soon, the only oils and chemicles I intend on carrying are Redline, Mobil 1, and if I'm lucky Motul. I'm probably going to take the Prestone Antifreeze out of my cars soon, and probably drop some Redline WaterWetter. Best of the best.

mejojo: If you want, i can post some pictures of my Mikado product, but is there a point you're making with it. If so, here's a picture. It looks better when the lights are on. THis is how I see it. JIm sell a good priced rebuild, and Mikado sells a more expensive rebuild. The dealers also sell the most expensive rebuild. According to another member on this forum, Jim's a little backed up with his work, and Mikado isn't, but you're paying a little more for it. It's just a matter of pricing and patience. Honestly, does it really matter who's the best. They're doing to same job. -
I don't see anything that would make something corrosive. The only thing corrosive from Dex-Cool product is sodium neodecanoate, which will corrode many metal. Aluminum is lighter, the particles are spread apart, and are generally not easily corrosive to sodium based chemicles. The only thing that would corrode will be steel, and rubber tends to breakdown faster. Chances are your hoses will wear out before your radiator does. I've used Prestone and Peak, and really don't see the reason someone will want to use the Manufacturer's brand, but if you have the money, hat's off to you! Someone mentioned why someone would pay to have water. Simple, water cools, longer than any chemical. Space shuttle engines are cooled with dry ice, which has a small trace of water. Very effective. manufacturer's recommend their products because they make money off the sales. Manufacturers also recommend you use the exact same tires they installed on the car originally, doesn't mean you have to.

Both Lexus and Lexus dealers have a consumer complaint department. $230! :o Ouch. This is the reason why I'm openning my own shop. 91LS400150k: The gasket they are charging $2.31 on is an oil filter gasket. It's not absolutely required, but using it is going to help excessive preventative maintenance. As for a source, has anybody tried asking Pepboys or one of the parts distributor about these gaskets? they must be selling these gaskets cheaper than the manufacturers. Not that I want to promote Walmart, but they also sell Mobil 1 Synthetic for about $30. Of course, be prepared to drop your car off, or bring a very thick book. -
Sw03es: Actually it's a Maryland Law, known as Korman's Law. Federal Regulation doesn't require it to be OEM, but it does state, if you want it should be offered, and also states nobody other than yourself can force you to use their shop--part of the durress law. There are a couple of cases presented in federal court that concluded with an OEM part is guranteed by the manufacturer, when an aftermarket is guranteed upto 90 days, officially. All insurance companies use their own repair shops, even if it's more expensive than OEM. State Farm replaced my dad's windshield with a non-OEM part, which was guranteed by state farm. Since my dad sold his car about four years ago, the next owner won't know about it, hence the reason why future owners cannot legitimately sue the manufacturers anymore. This is the reason why CarFax was created and is supposed to be getting better. Vyhanh: This is what you can argue with the insurance company. You can tell them, since a non-OEM product is guranteed by them, just to remember that it does not meet Factory Specs, and in an accident if you or anyone else goes through the window or nics the window, they are 100% responsible, and thus can be sued for an inferior product installation. OEMs and auto manufacturers love this idea, because it takes them out of the loop from ever being sued by individuals.

oh, that's not a bad idea using a hose. I used a cardboard rellay, which worked out for me, but using 6 bottles, I'm still wondering about that. I've used a hand-held air pump out of my emergecy road-side assistance kit, to push the fluid out of the block before. That should do the job without spending so much money on new fluid everytime. -
Sorry, I forgot to mention about the ratchet. I have confidence that he will figure out the steps on his own. You'll have to warm the car up correctly, start, idle for 1minute, drive slowly, under 2000rpms, until the oil is warm. Then you can put the car through some tests. Heater test mentioned above, check for leaks after 20minutes of driving/idle. Okay, I've got to ask, why is Toyota Anti-freeze so important to you guys?

Regarding your AC, it sounds like they didn't connect all of the cables, but I might be wrong. if you're loosing PS fluid even after replacing the unit, it's possible the mechanic didn't connect it correctly. My philosophy, if you can't depend on anyone else, do it yourself? did you ever buy one the Repair Manuals for the LS? That will show you step-by-step what to do. Try calling link to see if they have the books in stock. A lot of people have been buying them, and they're very rear now.

If it's not the bulb hole, it's probably a leak in the seal. Take your unit out, and disconnect everything from it. If you want. you could pop them into the oven @200degrees for 5minutes. You may have to repeat the procedure a couple of times until the glue is easier to remove. Split it, and remove all of the glue sealer. Once you have, you can clean the lenses, polish, and seal it up again. That shouldn't cost you $250.

I like the new Magllin touchscreens. i'd say, as long as you can get the updated software every other year, you'd be happy with the portable ones. My Pioneer is pretty nice, but expensive, since I went with a completely new setup with Hidden radio, and just a screen and remote up in the cabin. Good luck with your choice.

Your radiator/coolant flushes is important. Take a look at your coolant reservoir with the green stuff in it. The colour has to be bright greenish/yellowish shade. If it's dark, then you have to flush it. You generally don't have to replace your radiator since it lasts at least 10years. If you have a leak or problem, you'll notice it. Your engine will over heat, and your climate controls will spit out a lot of heat--no cool air w/o AC on. It almost sounds like he/she's trying to push some additives down your throat. Do not add any additives to your coolant. lexus is very specific, and changing anything could create some new issues. You can do the radiator flush yourself if you wish. It's just a matter of a large bucket, and a new 50/50 coolant fluid from Walmart or PepBoys.

If it doesn't say Nacamichi on the stereo head, it's the Pioneer. The CD, CD-R, CD-RW; if you can't hear normal cds that you buy from the store, then it's something else with your Changer. Since your CD changer is unique with the Pioneer Head Unit in your dash, you'll have to repair the existing changer. Try contacting United Radio--Automotive Division. they fix our Pioneer systems. As for something you buy from the store. you'd end up getting the R/F units, which are not the best.

No, it's definitely a 2JZ-ge engine, but I'd find out what turbo kit he/she has. Some of the text is wrong. Supra GTEs are not Twin Turbo, and the 450hp is probably wrong. Although I didn't get a clear shot at the turbo, I think it's probably a small turbo for the IS/Altezza--less hp&torque.

It sounds like the dealership's taking care of it, correct me if I'm wrong Meojo. It could be just that Rep. that can't communicate his/her thoughts correctly. You can always ask to talk to another rep, or the manager. It also sounds like the rep. is trying to say, ' we're sorry our tech doesn't know how to drive, and your service is one us' They'll correct it. you don't really have to contact your insurance company, especially if you have State Farm--they tend to be and could use that against you when renewal time comes up. moejo: If it smells, ask them for another one. they're authorized to give you a clean loaner, even if it's a demo.

Well, it doesn't really cost that much, so you could try buy it and see if it works. As for the metal key, you could take a spare key to see if it comes off. I have my doubts, but doesn't hurt.
