  1. Thanks for the memory kick-start and the details regarding the number of pieces in the kits. I really like the "Parchment" interior in my 2013. But I dislike the dark stain, almost black, of the wood trim used on the dash/instrument panel and doors, I only want to overlay the dash/instrument pieces and doors, not the console and all other possible surfaces, On one hand, I wouldn't mind buying the whole kit for a few parts, but I'll have to think on this. Paul
  2. I see what your looking for, and I have looked in a few more places but have not found what you want. My Garmin and my Volvo nav don't show that icon either.
  3. I have not noticed this as an issue on my 2013, but I did go to the Owners Manual and found just this one item that may or may not be what your talking about: Page 132, ES350 Owners Manual: "This message appears when the map scale is over 0.5 miles (800m)." "POI and eDestination icons cannot be displayed when the map scale is over 0.5 mi." Please write back and let us know if this helps. we like to learn. Paul
  4. I just got my keyboard out of a 6 weel rehab. program, Obviously it didn't take. Lighten up man...., peace and love. :) ( the Peace and Love part I'm serious about). Paul
  5. First, check to see if the toggle switch that lets you chose wether you will adjust the right or left mirror is in the miffle position. If it is, you will not be able to move eithe mirror no matter how hard you push the buttons. Try that. If not any help chek the fuse. Paul
  6. Try this out. I have no experience or any knowledge of the vendor mentioned. And I have no information if any of these magic "work arounds" actually do work or have any tech support. Let us know what you come up with. Paul Posted by skip2929 on 08 February 2011 - 12:34 PM in 2010-2013+ Lexus RX350 I am new to the world of Lexus, with our 2011 RX 450h....love everything about our new ride EXCEPT the annoying lockout of the phone and navigation controls when in motion. This was never mentioned to me by the salesman during the showroom demo and I totally missed this during the test drive. Thanks to Prestigious Society for having a wonderful solution to this with their bypass module. The install directions were easy to follow and when I did have a question about the installation, Mark at Prestigious Society answered my email with a phone call in 5 minutes!!! The BEST customer service I have ever received. I also understand if you have the Mark Levinson system this will allow the passenger to watch the video while in motion. THANK YOU MARK AT PRESTIGIOUS SOCIETY.
  7. Hi Elijah, Great to have you join the Lexus Owners Club. Take a look around the site and try out some forums that fit your interest. One forum you might want to check out is the Detailing one. Check out with others about products and tricks to use to bring the look of your ride standing tall. Also the mod. forum and be sure to go to the SC400 group. For specific issues uses the LOC search engine. It's fast and has a huge data base just for Lexus. Paul
  8. Very nice David. The color looks rich and contemporary. You know guys, as I go back over the threads here, it made me think back over the cars I've owned that had leather, and those with faux leather. And there is no question that the touch and comfort of quality leather is the thing you would want and expect in a luxury car. Then again, I imagine most of us have had that first encounter with the blue dye from blue jeans transferring off onto the leather seats as you slide in and out Also, there are always quite a few post asking how to clean the perferated leather seats without fouling or tearing the holes that allow for the cool air flow function. I have mentioned before when I got my 2013 ES that I had to special order it from the factory to get the leather interior. I forget how much more that was. So yes, I do like the feel and look of the Lexus leather.I t does require some TLC now and then but I take it to the detail shop if it needs good professional care. In talking about the special order for the leather, I never thought about if that would make a difference in the dash covering. I highly doubt it. Now lets move on to a new topic...........Do you have to use premium gas in a new ES350? lol Paul
  9. I disagree cduluk. Your statment saying that SW has "even been fooled" is inapropriate for our forum, when we are supposed to be exchanging our perspectives on topics not people or their personaities. I do not know if the dash material is leather in any of the many forms and types, or if the dash material is a synthetic. I do know I like it's appearance and feel, and I also like the extra touch of the stiching . I would be curious to know if any of the other luxury badges use any look-a-like leather substitute products in their cars. Does BMW or Mercedes or Range Rover (David), Cadiliac, Audi, Infinity, and so on use any leather look-a-like products in their interiors. I don't know. But before we take Lexus to task any further, maybe someone else could chime in regarding other luxury makes.
  10. Hi cduluk, I'm a little confused about why this is such a major issue from your perspective. Do you feel that Lexus has been misleading or misrepresenting the materials used in their interiors? As I said in my earlier post, I'm more concerned that the material used for the dash works when the air bag is supposed to deploy. The reason for using the top stiching is to show that this leather has been made by hand. Going back to the industrial revolution, the practice of having all leather needs made by hand or partly by machine, a Cobler might use a the top stich or visible stich as on the ES. Latter, when all leather goods were made by machine, having a pair of leather shoes using the visible stich pattern easily showed the other person that you could afford hand - made shoes. That is the same affect I believe Lexus is going for. The top stich is also considered to be more suited for spots themes. I suppose they want the GS and ES to look a little more updated. You probably won't see this stich pattern used on "Fine Leathers", Gucci, Feragamo, etc. Paul
  11. One of the benefits of living here in what I refer to as "middle earth" is that we usually never get a chance to become early adapter's. I have never seen a Tesla any where in this great state and haven't got a clue as to when they wood ever put a store in this location. The MSA or greater Des Moines and burbs population is around 800,000 last time I heard. I will say in favor of our selves, that Facebook just announced Friday that it was building a 200 acre facility in our fair city and that's kind of cool. Our people were able to locate a site than has a large water tower next to it, and a large electrical substation as well. Not sure how many servers they intend to put in this place, but it will certainly put a smile on the Utility companies faces. In stead of a station wagon Jim, why not hook-up with David's fresh Range Rover trade in. Probably more interior room for the Moonshine you go out to Possom Holler and pick up now and then, LOL Paul
  12. For some reason I never would have thought to ask that question. When I go out this afternoon I will take a look. However, My guess is that it is NOT leather but some other material that the goverment safety standards require to absorb the terrific G-forces upon a collison and protects the occupant and allows the Air Bag to deploy through it. tAlso, as far as I know, the 2013 is the first edition to use a Leather like product called New Luxe instead of leather. I know this because I had to order my 2013 ES350 from the factory in Japan to get the actual leather package. Paul
  13. Welcome Charlene To the Lexus Owners Club. The RX Is Lexus number 1 favorite model. You should enjoy a great car for a long time to come. By the way my ES350 is Black with Parchment/Ivory interior. Great minds. Paul
  14. I'm really excited that it seems many of you have found some good products and good vendors. I'm still a little confused about what the kits look like for the 2013 ES350. I went to the CARID site as you mentioned video272 and went to the ES350 index. But all of the sample photos regardless of kit type, showed a Cadilac as the finished example. Can anyone fill in the blanks? (in my head) Thanks, Paul

    Hello

Welcome aboard to both you Mohammed and you Rey. We look forward to you becoming active members of te LOC. In terms of mpg, Rey your doing very well accordind to the results of some longitudinal data I'm including as a link. In one of the data collections, it looked like even in the best of conditions the 1999 LS averaged about 17 mpg. As a comparison my 2010 ES and 2013 ES will easily produce around 32 mpg on hiway driving. That shouldn't be suprising since the LS was a V8 and the ES is a 6 with no turbo. Plus the 2013's have the benefit of 7 speed electronicly controled transmission, And I think they have also switched to direct injection. I am probably wrong on that, but I have heard a lot of noise during last year regarding it's pro's and con's. So here is where I'll put in my disclaimer for not really being a guru". LOL http://www.fuelly.com/car/lexus/ls400 Paul
  16. Why dosen't this suprise me. Your just one of those guys who the Universe just seems to smile upon. Either that or you have way to much money on your hands. LOL Sounds like a great deal and a excellent vehicle. I'd be happy just to be able to afford the floor mats! Enjoy my friend.!!! Paul
  17. Thanks for your response Gary. What I was curious about was if you meant the 2013 's were having this problem in particular and that the 2013's and the failure rate was well beyond previous occasions. Your correct about the perception of the problem when your search comes up. But I wouldn't agree that it's a common problem on the late model ES series. Thanks for the info.
  18. Like they say, two heads are better than one!. Glad your back in busuness "bawe". You mentioned "GDixion" that this has been a common problem and that there have been several post about it. Are you speaking about the 2013 ES specificaly, or other model years as well. I haven't heard of Lexus putting out a TSB for the issue. Can you fill me in some more. Paul
  19. Hi John and welcome to the LOC! I've had my 2013 ES for almost exactly the same amount of time and miles. I have not had this problem and so far haven't heard of any other member posting the same problem. But your right. There is something wrong in a big way, and if memory serves me, the 2013 went to a 7speed trany from the 6 speed unit wich was in the previous 2012 and back. I wonder if the gear searching might be taken care of by a software patch and not a tear down. Let us know how things come out. Paul
  20. Glad all turned out well! I know I've said this many times before, but to help members who will have the same ML amplifier problems in the future, I'll outline it here: A Mark Levinson system is not repairable by Lexus or any one else. Say the amplifier goes out. It cannot be repaired. It is simply a unplug the bad part and plug in the new part. It sounds like a dumb and exspensive way to go, but here is why. In licensing the use and name of Mark Levinson system and it's design, schematics, technical specs, etc. Lexus in turn had to accept that they could not have access to any of the forementioned data, and Lexus would only be able to diagnos plug & play type problems. Hence the amplifier. It can't be repaired; only replaced There is one company http://unitedradio.com/automotive/ in New York I believe. They may have some "VuDu" they try once and a while Paul
  21. Tesla has won a major victory in New York state with the courts allowing them to sell there way cool product, (my opinion), through company owned stores versus the traditional stand alone franchise arrangement. Read and see why the courts agreed with Tesla. In addition to the Tesla story I've posted the full Auto Blogs weekly summary of auto news3. Yes with pictures for those who come from the The "Show Me State". Right Jim? One story predicts the come back of the station wagon. Say it isn't so.....How about bring back the "Woody"? Paul http://www.autoblog.com/
  22. Welcome Jared and glad to have another "lost soul" come over from the Dark Side!....LOL Should you have any questions as you become more familiar with your RX you'll find a host of knowledge in the forums search engine, or post your question in the RX330 forum for fellow members help. Paul
  23. Hi guys, I'm interested as well in these convertion kits. I have looked at the "bitrim" website but haven't been able to get an exact quote on what the proper kit would cost. If anybody has any more information about vendors of these products please post it. Thanks, Paul
  24. Bswtwa, Glad you were able to track down the source of your problem. That's pretty good work! In the future, you'll find you will problably get more feedback and response by placing your post in the right Forum. In your case that would be the RX forum, somewhat lower down the forum page. Paul
  25. A few days ago, I got on the phone and was set to activate my XM Radio service permanetly. I read the unit ID to the XM rep, and he then sent the hit to link up the radio. Nothing happened. After several attempts the XM rep told me it had to be a problem with my end and I needed to see my dealer. The next day I went to the dealer and after several attempts, they were unable to make the satellite signal lock-in as well. The dealers master technician started calling the gurus at XM and Lexus and discovered that over the last months this problem had become to grow to the point that Lexus and XM are/have made a website for both parties with software fixes and work-arounds that will hopefully solve the problem. I'm going back to the dealer hopefully on 4/8/13 or 4/9/13 to see if the "Out, Out damn spot!" incantation will work. Film at 11:00. Paul
