  1. Hey boy's and girls.....how about a new list of the things the big L really screwed up (in my opinion) on the new 2013 ES350. It rides like a lumber wagon!! If no one else agrees, I'll keep my mouth shut. But honestly everyday I drive it, I wonder if I made a mistake , and and should gotten another 2010 or 2012. Paul
  2. Thanks for the humor!! Bet you didn't think it could become this controversial.
  3. LOL, I'm going to ignore the chauvinism and sexism of this statement and chock it up to us being from different generations. Its Django Unchained. The difference between a movie, and a rap song, and a post on the LOC is that the first two were sought out by someone looking for that sort of entertainment. Two mediums that just cannot be more dissimilar. The LOC is just not a place for anything that could be construed as being racist, or sexist, or whatever. I am no diffrent than anyone else. What one person may calll art, I may see as just a waist of perfectly good paint. But in 2013, still thinking a joke about a "Negro wanting a BMW" versus any other race, in my opinion can't be construde as anything other than racist. But the one that I will defend the most Lenore is your apparent total acceptance of "M-B = Molesting boys" .......We have argued many times about politics and other things that make being conservatives and liberals fun to bat the ball back and forth. But with sickening knowledge we have been jolted by, "Molesting Children" is not an "Old boys Cliche", it is sick and perpetuates one of the most depraved acts in our society. This list HAS some real oldies but goodies. Since it was announced that Consumer Reports named Lexus as the BEST CAR of all cars we definately need a Lexus cliche that matches our No. 1 cars. Paul
  4. Thanks everyone. Based on all your input, I've asked some people I know and the Master Mechanic at Lexus. All said the same thing.. The 13' ride is tuned for more quicker handling and is not as smooth as previous ES editions. I'm running 32-33 pounds now but as you suggested I'll do some manufacturer research. I wish I had driven the 13' over a weekend but my 2010 was totaled, and to get what I wanted I had to order it from the factory.
  5. So am I to assume you agree with molesting children? Is that one of your old "Cllches"? You believe that this is a male society. So if a female is born should it be put to death as is sometimes the custom in old China? Since this is a male society, then as with certain current Muslim believers, your wife is your property. The old cliches joked about how many enemy the Tuskegee Airmen shot down during WWII. Whops.....wait a minute, that wasn't a joke or a cliche, It was a band of African American fighter pilots whose Gold Medal from Congress is on display in the Smithsonian. Your so called cliches are not only ignorant, they lay bare you inability to think of any one but your self. For less than 2 cents I'd ask to have you banned. Paul
  6. This article from AutoByte, lines up, in it's opinion, the ten best Luxury cars made in America. To take on this task, I imagine there were some distilled spirits being past around. With the exception of the Caddy and the Tesla, it would be difficicult to call any USA Luxury car without Euroupe and Japan, Italy, England. OK...your turn. http://www.autobytel.com/luxury-cars/car-buying-guides/10-best-american-luxury-cars-115471/2/
  7. My 2013 ES arrived with Bridgestone tires from the factory. I've always ran on Michelen Primacy MX4 because of the smooth ride and quietness. I arranged with the dealer to swap the tires for free, and so far I've only put 1,600 miles on them. The problem is the car does not ride as smooth as I remember my 2010, and you feel all the small bumps. The cabin seems to be about as quiet as a ES Lexus should be. My question, has anyone else experienced this rougher rider with the 2013 or is it the tires. I leave the tire pressure screen on most days to see if there is a variance in pressure. I'm having a hard time believing that the tires are the problem, because for the past several years the Michelin Primacy has been the most popular tire for the ES. What do you think?
  8. Certainly true of a lot of those makers and models ! lol However, the writing as a whole contains obvious negative racial overtones, regardless of what race/nationalty and are not appropiate for the guidlines of the LOC. Thanks for your considerateration. Paul
  9. According to my owner's manual (page 233): " The following interior lights come on automatically when you approach the vehicle with the electronic key on your person. Front overhead courtesy light, Rear overhead courtesy light, Outer foot light". Thanks for the feed back so we can all learn ! Owners manuals are a wonderful thing.
  10. Hi Tony and welcome! You must be nearing some sort of a milestone with that kind of mileage. Some where on the site is a string on how many miles people have on their Lexus. Can't tell you off the top of my head what forum it's in, but just do a search and you'll find it. Let us know if you find a 94' LS400 with more miles. Paul
  11. I haven't had any time to do any reading of the owners manual, but as you might have noticed for ease of entrance and exit, the seat moves and the steering wheel rises when you are stoped and unlock the seatbelt. You should never have to hit the "D1" button after it's been set once. I would suggest you wipe all your settings clean and start over remembering that all of these choices are interlinked. Your dealer can do it for no charge. Paul

  14. Hi Jimmothy and welcome to the Lexus Owners Club. It sounds like a case of buyers remorse, or at least, wondering if I pullled the trigger too soon. No one can answer your question except you. Your opinion is the only one that can determine if you paid to much, to little, or should have look around some more. That's why I started to get out my calculator but realized regardless of my crunching, it would only make you happy or disapointed. The real problem that made you ask the question is that it appears you did no research at all before you hooked yourself up on a used car without knowing what a new car would have run. My personal experience has been always lease new. You retain as much as possible of the cars original value, (as shown in the residual value number). And by the time your finished with the GS, it will have 77,000 miles on it and be a 7 year old car. Not trying to be negative but I would make sure your lease has the residual value written in as a guaranteed amount versus a "approximate", or "variable". Also, make sure you can stay within the milage limate of the lease. The cost of the overage mile can really add up. Do some more home work and if you think you made a bad decison, my state at least, allows the customer a certain number of days, (I think it's somthing like 15 days) to change their mind and break the contract. Check it out. All this being said, it sounds like a nice ride. Paul
  15. Sorry no ones talked to you up til know, so I appreciate your patience. I have heard of this problem only once or twice before. My best suggeston would be a auto body shop. They may be able to take the das out and fix the seperation problem. Good Luck

I couldn't agree more. Steve has proven time and time again that he truly cares about the success of the site and that the members have a good experience when they try us out. Over the time I've been lucky enough to be a moderator, I have been amazed at Steve's patience and consistant calm attitude when I go to him with questions or advice. Steve has done more than people know to make the Club the internationaly known site it is with over 145,000 members around the world. Thank you SW for your willingness to lead, and to do it well. Thanks nc211 for saying what was long overdo. Paul
  17. Welcome to the LOC. Looks like a great ride. Enjoy! Paul
  18. James will the cabin air filter block some of these particles or does the evaporator flakes bypass that filtering system and just get sucked in to the vents. This is really interesting as I've never heard of such a wierd thing before! Thanks, Paul
  19. My 2005 ES was Black Garnet and by far my favorite. Had more compliments on that color than any other. My 2010 was Black Saphire. Again, great looks, but showed swirls in paint even though I had it hand washed only at a detailer's. Went with Black for the 2013 ES. Like SW, I just didn't fall in love with the 2013 colors so I figured it's pretty hard to screw up Black. Paul
  20. Hi James. I can appreciate what your saying. When your a manufacturer, the one thing you can't enginer into the auto, is common sense of the user. So you end up compromising to compensate for that lake of common sense. But I do agree with Don. When it's -15 below, it takes a good 15 to 20 minutes to warm the cabin. As you all know, in those areas of our country where those near to below zero temps are the norm, we/ they often have to put engine heaters in the cars and keep them plugged in overnight so the engine will turn over and start in the morn. If you have a garage your good to go. I just had a aftermarket remote-starter installed in my 2013 ES350 last Friday. It is configurable from 10 to 20 minutes run time. I bought it from my Lexus dealer and they installed it as well. They carry multiple brands and features because the Lexus OEM remote is simply one of those "Compromised" products that a manufacturer. This is my third aftermarket remote on a Lexus, and another on my wifes S80 Volvo. They all are adjustable for length of run time. Paul
  21. Jim and Steve are both giving you the best information, given your situation. I just totaled my 2010 ES350 last October and I let my insurance company do the negotiating. worked out great. Where your being squezed, is that no one (Insurance Co) will reimburse you or consider repairs or add-ons you did to a 13 year old car, since it would all be considered standard maintenance and repair. Your one other chance may be shoping the car around for salvage value. You'd be amazed what kind of prices some of those recyclables and other parts are worth. Good Luck Paul

    Hi

Hi Richard and welcome to the Club. If your over this way sometime we'll have a pint! Sounds like your very familiar with Lexus. The LS430 is/was a great car with a super ride and fully loaded. "Steve" is the Administrator of the site and also lives in the UK, where all of the site servers and other electronic brains are hosted. Paul (Sorry your post got overlooked in the schuffle, and I was late saying hello.)
  23. Welcome Happy Jon to the Lexus Owners Club. Glad you joined the rest of us who love Lexus. The ES350 is a great sedan with a smooth ride and a very quiet cabin. Most members will tell you that the reliability is excellent. Paul
  24. Hi Johnny and welcome to the club! If I understand your statement correctly, it is the period from November through April that you don't drive the car. I am not a mechanic and still have some old school ideas. With the new materials, synthetics, and electronics vs. the old manual controls, makes todays Lexus an extremely durable and reliable work of technology. I suppose that by simply putting a trickle charger on the battery, the IS could be stored for 6 months with no problems. However, my old school days feel that any car should be driven for a half-hour or so once a month. I think it's good to keep all the moving parts lubricated and properly seated. The transmission and fluid could be warmed and seals and gears thouroughly lubricated. It's a small chore and in my opinion worth the effort. Paul
