  1. To 1990LS400: Just a quick question. You mentioned you put the snow tires on your snow wheels. I have Lexus E-Sport wheels on my 10' ES350. Can you suggest what would be a suitable wheel for snow tires? Thanks, Paul
  2. Thank goodness. I solved my own problem by using a hanger and some tape. But it was still hours of painful work (both hands are now bruised) and lots of patience to loosen it up. You also need a lot of luck. Just everyone remember NOT to crowd the centre console box. The slide to open is a design flaw. Glad to hear you got your problem solved. Remember you have a bumper to bumper warranty and many dealers are very understanding and forgiving of the day to day things that just happen! Some are not. I say give it a try and save your knuckles. If they want to charge you, do it yourself. Paul
  3. My nickels worth. (inflation) As you know my 2010' ES has xenon lights, but I also have a S80 07' Volvo with xenon bi-directional headlights. From experience, the lights on the Volvo have had to be aligned to provide the same approximate area of coverage as the Lexus. In particular, the Volvo does not provide for as much vertical beam coverage as the Lexus or additionaly what I call "ditch to ditch" coverage. Consequently, when we travel at night on country roads we take the Lexus to make sure we have the most area of coverage in order to see deer standing in the ditches. In terms of overall brightness, both cars are the same. But I have never had anyone flash their lights asking me to dim my lighst when they were already in dim mode. My 05' Lexus ES had headlight covers that became foggy and had to be cleaned. Helped a lot. I really like the xenon lights and wouldn't have a car without them. Paul.
  4. Hope you enjoy your new toy. Welcome! Paul

  6. I'm a little slow so I haven't been able to figure out how to PM someone from their post. Would appreciate some tips. Thanks. Paul

  9. I know this is probably to late to be of help, but my dealer has a "Price Match" policy for tires and will meet anyones advertised price. That's from the Internet such as Tire rack, or a local tire shop, Costco, etc. Just get a written figure and they will sell you the exact tire at the exact price, including the two year road hazard. I purchased a set of Michelin MXV4 from my dealer and had a terrific experience. Cost was around $179. per tire. Paul Sorry to hear that. But best of luck with them. In case you didn't note, I drive an ES 350, not an RX. The Michelins are great thank you very much. Paul I was just basing my comments on personal experience. The Energy MXV4 S8's were terrible. Lousy in the wet and downright scary in the snow. Their ratings on Tirerack also suck. If, by chance, you got the Primacy MXV4, their ratings are MUCH better (#1 in the same category where the Energy MXV4 S8 was #15). If you got the Primacy, you should be fine. Primacy's they are Jim. Thanks Paul
  10. Contact SW03ES for expert information re: your question. Also, at the top of the page at the beginning of the forums is a section on detailing and maintaining your Lexus finish. I too have a Black Saphire and love it, but it is no easy task to keep it shining. Paul

  12. Welcome to the club. Your GS looks like new! Here's to many years of Lexus luxury! (Angelthekiller, scary) Paul
  13. I haven't done anything, yet, so it's not too late. I'll try that strategy when the time comes. When I mentioned to the service writer (who is one of the younger guys at the dealership) about bringing in my own tires, he said something like they would install but not warranty them. It would just be my luck that there'd be a problem. Who is your dealer, if I may ask? I could always say that "Blah-Blah Lexus" offers a price match policy, how about you? And, all I can say to the "Michelin MXV4-haters" out there is that for my application, they are just fine. I do not drive in rain/mud/snow frequently and when I have the urge to "straighten out some curves" on back roads, I'll take the Vette. ;) I hope this helps Bob. My dealer is Willis Lexus Of Des Moines, IA. and my service adviser is Laurie Kramper. A point to remember; the tires are warranted by the manufacturer, not the dealer. The road hazard coverage only provides for things like road side assistance in case of a flat, blow out, tow because of a tire fault etc. As for the Michelin MXV4 on going saga, hang around the ES350 forum and you'll find pretty much only rave revues for a quiet, comfortable, long wearing tire. No, wouldn't put them on you vette but there great on the sedan. Not sure what bug got up Jim Clark's nostril. Let us know how the negotiations turn out! Cheers, Paul

  15. Sorry about the soda bomb. You can contact "Dcfish" on this forum for replacement equipment. He seems to have almost all stock inventory. Paul
  16. Welcome Jack! Sounds like your already known. Your Starfire Pearl is a beautiful finish. Just got my 2010 a while back in Black Saphire; haven't seen another one like it though. Show us your pics. Paul
  17. Take a look (with your volume turned up!) at this New York City Times Square web cam: http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/timessquare/?cam=lennon_hd During the few minutes I watched/listened I heard quite a bit of honking but at least half the vehicles I saw were taxi cabs. As I said earlier, it's been a loooong time (decades) since I rode with an American born cab driver and, IMO, immigrant cab drivers seem quick to use their horns. New York City is an aberration. I've driven in other parts of New York on business (i.e. Albany) and pleasure trips and have never heard the kind of honking that is typical in NYC. Well...it dosen't take to long to get your point about the taxi honking. The web-cam feed sounds like an ad for "Horns are Us". Paul
  18. I have had no problems with my 2010, and I think the dealer is giving you a pretty lame excuse. Thats why they make warranties; you work on it, replace it, trade it for a new car until it's right. Don't accept this situation as is. There are a lot of 2010 ES's on the road that are nice and quiet. Paul
  19. Follow-up; Is location 26 like Area 56? Paul
  20. Happy Holiday!! New Members are always welcome. We are glad your here. Just like they vote in Chicago, post early, post often! Paul
  21. When we travel in Florida we are usualy in the Space Coast-Cape Canaveral area of Brevard County and Melbourne, Fl. Our visits are in January and February seeing our kids. When you walk through the grocery store you would swear your in New York City from the mix of accents. Do New Yorker's honk a lot?
  22. They must be heart-broken, so sing along (DCfish could play the horn-part): Radio's on, feeling all right Cruising the strip on a Saturday night. I smile and I wave and I hide all my pain but the sign on my bumper gives me away: Chorus: Honk if you're lonely tonight If you need a friend to get through the night A toot on your horn, a flash of your brights Honk if you're lonely tonight. I know a honky-tonk where we can go. A booth in the back with the lights way down low. The jukebox is playing a sad melody for heart-broken lovers just like you and me. LOL..."Loan me your handkerchief Tex, I feel a tear com'in on!" Like your ballad of the Lonely horn'y'? Lexus driver. Funny.

  24. You might try e-bay for the rear view mirror. Paul
  25. DO NOT take it to "Pep Boys" or any other discount chain for this type of problem. Personal opinion, but I don't feel these places have the expertise to give you a competent result. A good independent mechanic with a good, verified reputation can do a fine job. Your dealer will also give you good service. Get an estimate from both and check their warranty policies. IntakerGS is more knowledgeable than I, and can guide you better with the technical matters. Paul
