Good afternoon everyone, I own year 2000 lx470 and it has been running fairly good since I purchased it about 3 years ago. Recently I started to find water droplets dropping from the dome light button as well as the area above the driver side footrest. (drops fall on my left foot when I drive). I didnt pay much attention But last week, it suddenly started to discharge a lot of water withing the car and it appeared to cause some damage. 1) I notice a lot of standing water around the sunroof. I found there are two small opening on either side of the sunroof area which I think are for discharging rain water but it looks like these are blocked. How can I open it? 2) The car suddenly started to beep continouslly while driving in rain. It looks like the horn is somehow shortcircuit because of the water. I unplug the cable which is attached with the horn in front(there was smoke coming out of the right side horn when I unplug it but it was still beeping). But now, the horn does not work after I plugin the cable. Do you think that the electricity might have burned cable connecting with the horn (or a fuse, or something else). The left side horn does not beep either. What is the use of that horn?d 3) The dashboard lights suddenly became dimm. Now, these are no longer bright. What do you think is this problem? Is there any warranty on the recoloring of the leather? I heard that re-dyeing effectively reduce the life time of the leather. Also as far as I know the leather on lx470 is coated for better protection. I dont know if dyeing is going to be a good idea. I spoke to one mobile detail person who advertised on Craigslist. I wonder whether I should trust the mobile leather person to do a good job. A

How many miles do you have on your vehicle? You should consider changing the spark plug. It may solve the issue. A

I own year 2000 lx470. The windows on sides all have Toyota sticker on it, except the windshield. Does it mean that the windshield has already been replaced at least once by the previous owner? I have a small crack on the screen, I am planning to replace it (since it was already repaired it once at the same spot and crack now started to appear again). What glass (and brand) will you recommend. Anyother thing I need to remind the safelite people of, to get the new windshield right Many Thanks A

One of the injection coil was burnt. I had it replaced, along with the spark plugs (though not needed but I felt it was about the time I should). It cost me $280 for everything. Thanks

Wondering if toyota land cruiser will fit. Injector coil 126 vs 160 from lexus plug 16 vs 20 at lexus

It is good to read your suggestions as I was about to get a mobile mechanic from craigslist to help fix the problem. (though he claimed that he know these issues well). I think the diagnose is not a complicated issue, it is the parts I am concerned about. Is it good to replace the broken parts with after marke Just for comparison. sparkplugs (iridium), lexus dealer (20 each), aftermarket 7 injector coil dealer 160, aftermarket from peps boys 79 Which one will you recoomend or is there any brand which I can use safely (besides lexus dealership provided parts THanks

Thanks for the reply I took it to a mechanic and he read the code out from the engine These are the code we read 1) 302 misfiring 2) 308 misfiring 3) 300 random misfiring. The mechanic said that two of the cylinders are misfiring. He said that he need to further diagnose the problem to locate the source of the problem which can either be spark plugs, the coil, or the injector. The car vibrates because only 6 cylinders are operational. (but they still have to do the diagnose). My question at the moment is that, should i have it fixed by this indepemdent mechanic(who is going to use the after market component or just take to to lexus dealer who are charging 165$ just for reading the code. Any suggestion, or do you know any good estimate for this fix so that I cna bear in find that i wont be paying more than I should \Many Thanks

I am noticing this problem since yesterday. I dont at the moment what is wrong with the vehicle at the moment. Please help The check engine light came on and at the same time the engine was shaking a little. So she decided to park the car at home and felt something needed to be done. My question is when I started the engine, not only was the check engine light on, but both the VSC Trac light and VSC Off light came on. I noticed the engine was shaking also. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this problem? The check engine light is blinking while the other two stays on. Can I drive safely on a long trip (around 1000 miles round trip) while this vehicle have this issue? A

Does Pilkington or PPG make OEM windshields, and if not, where do I look for OEM windshield. I had windshield replaced on my nissan a year ago, I dont know the brand but it has waviness effect and it I feel more road noise. I wish I have something close to my current windshield on my lx470. I'll probably have it replaced by safelite since they fixed the crack initially which has grown. A

Hello Everyone, My vehicle windscreen recently developed a small crack which I had it repaired by a glass company(Safelite) through my insurance company. It was fine until a few days ago when it started to appear again (from the same spot). The glass company suggested that it needs to be replaced since they can't work on the spot which was fixed before. The issue is that the replacement will be an after market rather than an original part. I need your opinion to whether install the aftermarket windshield or pay for original shield (I dont know at the point whether I have to buy it from my pocket or will have to pay some portion of the suggested price). Also can you suggest some good places to look at to buying either oem orignal parts or aftermarket good brand shield Thank You A

My sister in law does not know what happened to the seat, she noticed it a few days before she returned the vehicle. The seat was kept folded while it was in her use. The stains are pretty much embed into the leather. Is Lexus spray available at dealership only. I dont know hoe effective it can be. but anything that can reduce the stain visibility will help.
