  1. Larrymcj If I remember correctly, my dealer charges around $900-1,200. for a full application. May I ask what your dealer charges? Paul Holy crap...that's robbery! On any Lexus model here in Knoxville, the VentureShield is $698. That includes a run through the Auto Butler, then prepping all areas, applying the film, then another run through the Auto Butler. The areas covered are the entire front of the car, the front third of the hood, and the back of the mirrors. The job they do here is absolutely incredible...it's really hard to see unless you know it's on the vehicle. I've done more checking on this and 3M swears you can leave this on as long as you want on any color car and you won't see any difference when taking it off. UV rays definitely penetrate it so the entire car is equally exposed. Also, I haven't noticed that slight buildup on the door edge guards...I must have been behind some heavily smoking trucks here on I40 :-) Jumping rip off Batman! That's a substanial differance in price. If I decide do it I will look around and get some bids. When you get yours applied let us know how it went and about how long it took.
  2. Pleas see post @ 1990LS400 below for link to article. Sorry about the inconvenience.

What do you mean by "manage your tire sensor light". Is the warning light coming on often? Does it come on then go off shortly there after? Have you had it to the dealer? Have you had all the tires checked for leaks? We need some more information re; your situation and what you've done so far. Paul

  7. Smooth 1, I like the idea of using something temporary. Sometimes I have to travel gravel roads and it would be nice to just put some of that film on and go. Have you had any problems with the adhesive affecting the wax or polish on the paint? Paul
  8. Here in Iowa we get 89 octane for the current price of the above mentioned $2.79. Premium is 91 octane and runs in the low $3.20's. The state subsidizes the 89 with 10% ethanol to support the farmers and ethanol industries. Thats also why it's so cheap. 89 octane gas is always the cheapest gas at the pump. 87 runs about $2.97.

  10. I sort of feel the same way, but my research with 3M on the product shows that UV rays penetrate it so the paint underneath will be equally affected by UV rays. Also, dealership backs this product up with a lifetime warranty which clearly states they will replace the product or paint/repair/replace any part of the car that is ever adversely affected by it. That sounds pretty good! If it gives you the protection that you want, go for it. Paul
  11. I see you haven't gotten any responses yet, but it's been a slow day on the forum; don't give up yet. I don't have the film on my car, but have looked at the 3M product a couple of times at my dealer. I have noticed the same problem as you, as that over time, with wear and road pollution, the edges become pronounced and look pretty rough. Personally, I've never been sold on the concept of the product because in my mind a well cared for paint finish, detailed twice a year will look great and stand up to most road wear. I just don't feel comfortable with a film subjected to UVa&b rays along with 120 degree direct sun not to color shift or become somewhat opaque over time. But those statements are based on no facts, just opinion. Paul
  12. Hello and welcome. Wish I was in San Jose; it's only 7 degrees here in Des Moines! Paul
  13. Welcome! We are very glad you are here and a new member is always welcomed. Don't worry about your english. We all speak "Lexus". That is our universal language. LOL Paul

  18. When you say a fill up runs $55., how much do you have to pay a gal. where you live? Here in Des Moiines, it's at $2.79. Paul well at that point it was $2.90, now its at $3.23. It has jumped 60 cents in 2 weeks. the day I bought the truck, it was $2.72. yikes. These are all regular prices BTW. From 1/4 tank today would push $60-$65. That is pretty incredible! We went from the low $2.50's to the present $2.79 in about the same amount of time. However, no one seems to know why. Does any one have the scoop? Paul
  19. I got mine at "buycarfloormats.com/lloyds". Great customer service. Fast delivery. Paul
  20. SW03ES did a post on this not to log ago. Just do a search and you should find it easely. Or pm him for help. IMO your dealer would be the best bet for a Guaranted Current update. Paul

  24. I think the Truffle is great. It is so rich in appearance and has a lot of depth to it's color. As you said, it stands out from the dozens of shades of Grey/smoke etc. I know next to nothing about touching up minor scratches except those little bottles they sell with the finger nail polish like brush to apply it. There must be something better. How do you do touch up? Thanks, Paul
  25. Hi, I am looking for factory ML speakers for Lexus GS. Are you interested to sell the speakers that you took off? Please let me know einhance@hotmail.com Hi Dave, Just a quick note. The ML system has a very complex crossover system and just riping and replacing speakers that are not matched to the crossover network will probably not get you the results your looking for. Most of the time it is difficult to find an installer that will work on a Lexus if they have ever done it before. Paul
