  1. Per usual, SW has been in the egg nog again and doesn't know what he's talking about.LOL(Joke) Dealers cost for certifying a car is about $1,000. If your a wrencher, you can usually get them to drop the cert. and save yourself some money. Of course on an 07' without some warranty you can inherit some trouble as well. I'm not a do it your self'er so I like the security blanket of buying a CPO. Paul
  2. This comes up fairly often. Just do a search and you should find a tutorial with pics on how to remove the backseat and get at the sub from underneath the rear deck. Paul
  3. In August I traded a 05' ES330 for 14,000 with 41,000 miles. I purchased a 2010 ES for 36,500. before trade. Reading about the luxury car market over the last 9 months you should be able to negotiate a VERY good price, 23,000 or about. IMHO. Paul
  4. A vivid reminder of something we need to be reminded of. Thank You! Merry Christmas, Paul
  5. Intaker is correct. My wife has a 07' S80 Volvo, and with the late model Volvo's the aberration is called "Lava Mirror" as the liquid literally runs down the inside of the mirror just like a lava lamp from the 60's ( like, wow man!). However, it usually happens most frequently to the interior mirror. There is no fix just replacement, and unfortunately, no matter who you order from, there are only a couple of manufacturers that make the things. Paul
  6. You might contact "dcfish"; he may be able to help you. This is not a topic I have heard of before. Paul
  7. I would at least call the dealer and follow-up on Jim's theory. His train of thought has more logic behind it than a group of bulbs blowing out all at once. Just ask on of the service advisor's whats involved with changing the transfer case chain. Paul
  8. You've gotten some good advice. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride! Welcome. Let us know from time to time how it's going. Paul
  9. There is nothing wrong with using an after market remote start. In fact, my Lexus dealer uses Viper as their after market product, and sell a ton of them. Your right, there are a few quirks with Lexus models. As stated, when you get in you must touch the start button twice or, when you touch the brake pedal to put the car in gear, the engine will die. Obviously to prevent theft. The range of the Python that my car audio shop insatlled in my 2010 ES is about 2,000 ft. The cost of my system was about $500. installed. Paul
  10. I do not know the answer to you question per se, but it sounds dubious to me. However, your not going to get any accurate answers the way you have titled/posted you subject. Just saying PLEASE HELP does not tell anyone what your subject is or your need. People tend to just pass over such postings. Re-post your question with a different title and you should get more response. Navigation information is a hot topic. Paul
  11. I can't help you. Have you posted this in the RX forum as well? There is also another website called Club Lexus. Paul
  12. Hi branshew, I DID look up you post on the sub and it is an excellent tutorial! You obviously put a lot of time and effort into it, which is why I don't no why your so nasty about putting up your link with others to learn from. No harm to me. Happy Holidays to you and yours, Paul
  13. I have a camera mounted to, and at the top of my rear license plate, with the screen mounted on the left side of my dash. I have it wired to automatically come on when the car is put in reverse, or I can switch it to be on all the time. Audio Vox is the manf. Paul
  14. It's pretty obvious I need the teaching. I can be a slow learner. Thank you.
  15. You say "they" tell you it's a rain sensor. Who is "they" and if it is the dealer why would they lie? Rain sensors that turn on the windshield wipers are normally placed behind/next to the rear view mirror. Paul
  16. Welcome to the LOC. Glad your here, but sorry you feel like you have "wasted your time". There can be many reasons why your post are not immediately answered. One is that no one knows the answer or hasn't had any experience with the particular system or circumstance you've posted. Another is little or slow traffic on the board. Another is an attitude like you expressed above. If you wish, post the subject name, car model, or link to your post and I will try and get some action for you. Paul
  17. Not quite the same issue, but I have an after market remote start installed by my Lexus dealer. When I start the car, it unlocks the doors. I then have to re-lock the doors with the remote start fob. When I go out to get in the car I have to unlock it with the remote start fob as the factory fob is inoperable until you get in the car and push the start button 2 times to over ride the remote start cpu. If you do not push the start button 2 times, when you touch the brake pedal to put the car in gear, the engine dies. Also when started with the remote start, the personalized settings,(steering wheel, seat position, etc.) do not work. You have to manually push the button on the drivers door. It sounds a lot more troublesome than it is, and all in all I would not be without it. Paul
  18. After your conversation with the sales mgr. let us know what you find out. Paul
  19. Hi LDL007 Glad to see you've gotten some response to your questions. As you can tell, somtimes the forums can be slow for certain models one day and really busy the next. So your lack of immediate response is not do to a lack of interest but number 2., a smaller number of hs250 owners. And because of that, there is not a large pool of knowledge from which to draw; that leads to number 3. You might try posting questions/situations in the General Discussion sections at the top of the home page. You can post anything such as your remote start question. Hope everything comes together for you. Paul
  20. Are you still trying to use your eight track tapes? LOL... I want to know what you find out after you've taken it in; so far no problems with my system. My guess is a funky software glitch, not the switch. Paul
  21. Larrymcj If I remember correctly, my dealer charges around $900-1,200. for a full application. May I ask what your dealer charges? Paul Holy crap...that's robbery! On any Lexus model here in Knoxville, the VentureShield is $698. That includes a run through the Auto Butler, then prepping all areas, applying the film, then another run through the Auto Butler. The areas covered are the entire front of the car, the front third of the hood, and the back of the mirrors. The job they do here is absolutely incredible...it's really hard to see unless you know it's on the vehicle. I've done more checking on this and 3M swears you can leave this on as long as you want on any color car and you won't see any difference when taking it off. UV rays definitely penetrate it so the entire car is equally exposed. Also, I haven't noticed that slight buildup on the door edge guards...I must have been behind some heavily smoking trucks here on I40 :-) Jumping rip off Batman! That's a substanial differance in price. If I decide do it I will look around and get some bids. When you get yours applied let us know how it went and about how long it took. I'm scheduled for next Monday...will let you know. The Lexus prep & design center here told me the actual time for doing the AutoButler prep, then warming up the body, making sure every microscopic particle of dust was off the care (clean room just like for painting), then applying the film takes about 5-7 hours. They have one dedicated employee who was trained by 3M and she is the only person allowed to apply the VentureShield. I think the film concept gets a bad rap because of the other wannabe films out there that do cause paint issues if left on for years. 3M warranties no problems at all and the dealership gave me a written document saying they would fix any problems. Sounds like your good to go, & and with a good package. Let us know next week how it went.
  22. Hi gDub, If I may, what is your deductible on your auto policy? The damage to your hood should be covered regardless of which way you choose to repair the damage. The Lexus had nothing to do with getting the dent in your hood. "Don't shoot the messenger". lol Also, what else did you have done beside changing the oil when you took it in for service? I pay $60. for an oil $ filter plus all fluids, tires checked, all other usual checks and wash. That is about $30. more than I used to pay for an older American car I had. Paul
  23. That sounds like an excellent use. Around here, during the summer evenings, we have scores of moths that plaster the hood, grill, and windshield. The film would really help. Thanks,
  24. How many times has this topic come up...especially with someone trying to figure out how much gas their tanks holds out to about six decimals. Article implies it realy can't be done. Paul http://autos.aol.com/article/gas-gauge/
