  1. That's because the GX is BAD AS@! Paul... I wonder if with the increase in gas prices if that will start slowing down the larger suv sales again? I know if gas wasn't a business expense that I pay for out of my company I would not be thrilled with the mpg's I have been getting. 15.5 the past few times was avg about 17.8 earlier...summer...and now I have been putting my foot in her a little too. That v8 sounds good! :D ....But you've got to put your foot in the carburetor once in a while or what's the purpose of the vehicle? Our gas is up 15 - 20 cents in just three days, now at $3.00 for 89 octane. Thats always our cheapest grade of gas in Iowa. The GX is a surprise to me too, given the last 15 months capital market, I'm surprised they moved so many of them. Yet, the Dow was over 11,600 today, I think, so things ARE looking up. It just amazes me how a luxury line can do so well when so many been hurt so badly by the economy. Paul
  2. Thanks Army. When I looked at the first photo, it looked like the front window was lighter than the rear cab window. I see in the rest of the photos the tint is all the same. Paul
  3. Glad your here! The SC is a great car. Enjoy the LOC. Paul
  4. Welcome to the LOC! Paul
  5. Toyota and Lexus were number 1# in sales for 2010 with Camry best selling car and Lexus best selling Luxury brand, with the GX numbers way up. http://www.autoblog.com/2011/01/05/despite-tough-year-toyota-finishes-2010-with-best-selling-car/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+weblogsinc%2Fautoblog+%28Autoblog%29 Sorry about the length of this link. Paul
  6. Hi rob; It does sound like everything is working as it should. The Park Assist feature only displays the outline of the car when it actually detects an object within the initial 4.9ft warning zone. This distance applies to both front and rear sensors. If you are not closer than that to an object while trying to park or back up or jockey around an object, etc. the display will not come on. It will simply be in the stand-by mode. That is what the "Green" light means when you press the on/off button to the left of the steering column. When the system comes on, the alarm will beep faster and faster the closer you come to the object, until you reach a distance of 1.2ft when the tone will be constant and the display will flash. Hope this has answered your question. Paul Thanks Paul. What you described, it what I expected. Instead, each time it comes on, it is already at the point where the tone is constant and the display is flashing. I am not getting the preceding warning where the beep gets progressively faster. I will try it try it again, but I don't think it is going to change because I have already approached objects as slow as possible, so not sure what else to do. Is everyone out there with this feature getting the progressively faster beeps prior to the steady tone and flashing display? My ES is a 2010 and what I detailed is what I experience with my car. What year is yours?

  8. Exactly what "gbhrps" said. Check the cap first. In the midwest, Autozone will also read your codes for no charges. Paul
  9. Yes IT IS A DESIGN FLAW. I kept one bag only NOT FULL OF BAGS lol. Besides it's not the bag that jammed the door, it's something plastic like the CD boxes. Well unless you leave it empty, then it won't jam at all. My old Camry console opens up vertically NOT SLIDE OPEN and it NEVER jammed. Talked to my dealer and they admitted the sliding was a headache to them. This is definitely not a day-to-day problem but it will happen to anyone. Just don't say you aren't warned when this happened. Thank you for yelling. Have a nice day! Paul
  10. Welcome to the Lexus Owners Club! One of the forum members, "dcfish", may be able to help you find what you need. Paul
  11. Welcome as well! Glad your here.
  12. Welcome to the LOC! We're glad your here. I want to make sure your talking about the Dynamic Radar cruise control; $1500. MSRP. Taking the high rode for now, and after looking at the full list of options and accessories, I can see it would be an easy oversight in this situation. However, thinking of my own dealer, any dealer worth there salt would find a way to satisfy a customer over such a trivial amount. Have you talked to your dealer? Tell them what you want. Paul
  13. Appreciate the info, makes sense. As for an ethanol blend, when your in the largest corn/ethanol producing state in the country, there is a lot of the stuff to go around. As you know, there has and always will be, a debate over the benefits or lack there of when using ethanol in any passenger car type engine. Here, some people report a loss of one to two mpg over a non blend. That has not been my experience. Give it a try some time. (The state desperately needs the revenue. LOL) Thanks again, Paul
  14. Just wondering did you ever look at the gas cap or the recommendation on the gas door? Quite a few car salesman will tell you anything to make a sale but I have had most tell me to use premium in my cars... Hi Lexir, This may apply only to the 2010 ES, but during early fall, a bulletin was sent out announcing the OK to use 87 octane in the 2010 ES, over riding the owners manual material. Steve W covered it extensively on the forum and since then I haven't heard a word from any member or Lexus regarding the program or it's success or lack there of. In Iowa we have 89 octane with a blend of 10% ethanol, in addition to 87 and 91 octane. The ethanol blend is subsidized by the state and is always 10 cents cheaper than any other gas. The 89 works very well and I love it. I have used it for years with no problems at all. 29 mpg.
  15. You failed to mention how many miles it has on it. Does it SEEM reasonable for it's age? Lexus leather is a fairly high grade, but it needs care and cleaning periodically to keep it free from soil and to keep it supple. See the detail section of this board. The plural of Lexus is "Lexi". Paul
  16. Hi David, Some clarification....Did you buy this car new, and it now has 24k on it? In other words, why were the tires not replaced under warranty? Or, did you buy it Certified Pre Owned, Or just buy it used. Just trying to understand why you were on the hook for bad tires. No, Lexus tires usually do not wear out at such short intervals. You should expect an original OEM to last according to the tire manufacturers specs. Paul
  17. As Jim can tell you, I have this super power type command of the obvious; lol - Why has the 01' Ultra been on the lot for so long?....
  18. Happy New Year To You Lexir!!! Have a great 2011.
  19. Right back at ya my friend!! Paul
  20. I have had Lexus chrome rims for three winter/summer cycles on my former 05' ES and through copious amounts of salt and calcium chloride. I had almost no corrosion except for a few pencil eraser sized spots on the outside that were only cosmetic. I may just have been fortunate. Where is the corrosion? Is it on the bead around the rim? Is it inside the rim say around the valve core base?..etc As Jim said if you can find a plating shop it is a lot cheaper to re-plate than to buy new, because a new chrome Lexus set will start at $500. a wheel plus install, balance, etc. But I would press the dealer to show you specifically where and what corrosion is causing the problem before spending $2500. on new rims just to have the same problem return. Paul
  21. New article on value of new versus used from 2010 statistics. Paul My opinion; I've bought both new and used Lexus. Happy with each. http://autos.aol.com/article/high-used-car-prices/
