hammer008
"Fennell was driven by the horrifying night in 1995 when armed kidnappers stuffed her and her husband, Greig, in the trunk of their Lexus and drove off. After the kidnappers robbed the Fennells and abandoned the car, the couple escaped by digging through the trunk's upholstery and finding the wires that released the trunk." How would they do that? bkchig
Well, On my ES330 04', I have a emerg. trunk release on the inside of the trunk door...it's a glow in the dark handle. How do I know??? Trust me...I know!
Lexusfreak
My 01 ES has the same feature.....it was either standared equipment starting with the 00 or 01 model years....I am not 100% if you can get one installed in your older ES. Contact your Lexus dealer to ask them. B)
AxlxA
i have a 00 ES300 and i can't find such a glow in the dark handle. there is a handle for the fuel door release though. Maybe for those with it on the 01 can tell me exactly where it is, maybe i can find it too.
SKperformance
If you pull the trunk panel back and feel around their is a rod you can pull to release the latch on the right side
SW03ES
Those glow in the dark handles became required in 01 I believe.
Geo
Why should anybody be stuffed in the truck of their car ?! What they needed was not a latch release but a .45 !!! Shame we have become a nation of victims. P.S. Once anybody stuffs you in a trunk your chances of surviving the encounter are greatly reduced. SW03ES
Kids climb into trunks while playing and don't have a way of getting out, that was the reason behind the latch. It just makes sense, you shouldn't be able to easily fit into a space that you cannot again get out of.

sunman
My benz has a button that flashes for 60 minutes once the trunk is closed. Pressing it opens the trunk. But I guess of the battery is disconnected, it won't work.
Piranha
at least in my 95 you dont need the emergency release. the latches are weak. just apply enough pressure. it will open, but its bad for the latch, but in an emergency i doubt you would worry about that
