  1. Well, here goes my ordeal. 1. Mechanic said he doesn't like the sound of the compressor....only have original compressor available (no rebuilt) so replaced $2000+2 hour labor=$2200 2. Cool but not cold...Mechanic said probably should replace the condenser and dryer may be clogged....$300+ 2hour labor=$500 3. After 1 week....warm air again....found a huge puddle on driveway behind the rear passenger wheel...Mechanic was surprised there was a separate evaporator at back...said needs to cap of the rear $300. Working now but only in the front. :( Kids not happy for no instant cold in rear.
  2. It blows warm outside air on driver side and cold ice air on the passenger side...so here is the cycle... 1. fill with refrigerant....ice cold air on both sides for about 2 weeks....after warm outside air on the driver side and cold air passenger side for about 1 week...after warm outside air on both sides....rinse and repeat with more refrigerant... I have also replaced the AC relay in the fuse box to no luck.
  3. I have been trying to fix my air conditioner for a month now as it only blows warm air or cold air only on the passenger side on a good day. 1. Put new refrigerant.....worked for 2 weeks 2. put dye in to check for leaks....no leak visible using UV light 3. changed both valve cores + more refrigerant....worked great for 2 weeks. Anyone have any idea where I can look at next? Where is the most probably leak area?
  4. yes...don't know code...on vacation far away from dealer
  5. My 2008 right one just flew off on the interstate. Check engine light came on :cries:
  6. hammer, Where are these measurements taken from? Is 3.11 in. between the rubber bump stop and the rear axle housing? Thanks
  7. 78.9 mm (3.11 in.) = centre of wheel - torsion bar = normal Amount of change in vehicle height: HIGH position: 40 mm (1.57 in.) LOW position: -20 mm (-0.79 in.)
  8. Just read the whole thread and this has got to be the lexus owner's worst nightmare. I really hope lexus makes this right and keep up the good fight...seems almost like contact sports. Long ago when lexus was at its peak....lexus damaged my car while installing a windshield, I just took an estimate from a body shop and the general manager just signed me a check on the spot.
  9. The best ride..I think this army color goes well with the "rugged tough" 4WD outdoorsy/camping image. This is my upgrade from old faithful 1995 es300.
  10. Mine does the same thing. It is just louder when in the garage. I was told it was normal by my dealer.
  11. I have the exact same problem with my 96 lexus es300 (champagne brown). The bad thing about fading is that any new repairs will show in time. :cries:
  12. Had mine repaired under warranty. They just sanded and repainted the rims and they look ok but you can tell it was repainted and they forgot some pitting areas in the middle hard to see areas. I am thinking of taking it back but maybe I am being too picky. If I had to do it again, I would push for new wheels....unfortunately, my warranty is up in 1000miles and when it goes back to more pitting I will be sheit Out of luck.
  13. I am having mine done now and they seem to not replace them but refinished them. I hope that it is okay.
  14. Took mine to a local dealer (Toronto, Ontario) and he had no idea what it was and asked me to bring in the TSIB. Well brought it to another lexus dealer and what a difference. They recognized it right away and said it would be done in 2 days. Got a nice RX350 for a loaner too.

  16. I just posted about this on another website. I am getting my 06 GX 470 rims replaced free of charge by Dealer. It was not easy but I would not take "NO" for an answer. My truck just turned 3 and I have 25,000 miles on it. They will be put on this week. Hi, I have this problem as well on my 07. Why was it not easy? I am hardly the confrontational type and would like to know how you approached this problem to them.
  17. Just installed 9.1...much nicer than my old 6.1....well worth the $300.
  18. i would just replace the one. With my experience, they will both go but at different times sometimes 3 years apart but sometimes within the same year. I bet it is the right one, that one usually goes first. If you were taking a long road trip, I would do both.
  19. I went to a toyota dealer and paid 85cents to get one of those blue clips...pulled the old one out with needle nose pliers and put the new one into and pushed it into the door...VIOLA! All fixed and good as new.... Saved myself $1499.
  20. Anyone know how to fix a loose plastic outside panel trim(mud guard?)on the second passenger door. When I look under the gap behind the panel, I see that 1 blue clip has come out and I can't seem to push it back in. Lexus dealer here wants $1500 and I just about had a heart attack. :cries: Below is a link to what the clip looks like. My link
  21. Does the car autoactivate 2nd strt button when slippery? Also how does starting at 2nd help?
  22. My mechanic checked my timing belt at 90000miles and said it looked new. That was 3 years ago and have put on 30000miles no problem. Will change soon though.
  23. That is good advice. I guess I need to strip the old glue off and apply a new layer...only if I knew what kind to use???
