  1. The 06-newer RX with the updated 350 engine REQUIRE premium 91 fuel. The RX330 and older RX300s only RECOMMEND 91 premium unless you are experiencing a ping with your engine... It's a case to case scenario. Some cars that do not necessarily need 91 pings like hell with 87 served. My 4Runner does not require 91 but it's pinging with the 87 I'm putting in
  2. Yes Nic is right. Make sure all doors are closed and the car is "on".. and the suspension should lower itself regardless if there's something heavy in it. Maybe when you get the car out, consider removing the roof rack (if you have one on)? ;)
  3. Dealers have "hold backs" where they sell the car for a lower price than they wanted to, but Lexus will reimburse that dealership and in the end, the dealership still earns a good amount of money out of the sale of the vehicle. If they're offering 11% off MSRP, that's one pretty good deal.
  4. The clunk, as described numerous times in this thread, is the "bump" you feel when you are at a stoplight and it feels like you were lightly rear-ended. There is a TSB but I'm pretty sure my TSB on page 9 of this thread is a little out dated. Print it out and give it to your local Lexus dealer if you need it. ;)
  5. Not beating an old horse here but i thought I'd post some update pictures. Nothing new with the car, except a nice car wash hehe :D
  6. Try the pinned topic on top of the GX forum. I have the TSB write-up on page 9 (since this topic has been fully discussed numerous times) but I'm not sure if it's the same or different TSB number compared to the one written on the first page of this thread. ;)
  7. I dont know why you are suprised my GX gives me 17.5 - 18 mpg in city. Honestly I only get about 13-15 mpg city, purely city with no freeway miles on those figures. Now you guys are probably using 91 octane and I'm only using 87 but I do not think it should make that much of a difference in gas mileage. The GX should only average about the same mpg as me because I have not heard of any mileage experience being beter than the sticker mpg. :o
  8. Welcome to LOC! I've moved your post to the right forum so that someone with more LS400 knowledge may be able to help you. ;)
  9. Personally in my case, I did NOT purchase the extended warranty. I bought my GX brand new and I have a "guinea pig" GX.. The reason is because most of the bugs and problems already came out within my original warranty and I've properly maintained the car ever since day 1 so I know that there shouldn't be any MAJOR problems with my GX (knock on wood)... Hope that helps. ;)
  10. 91 is always recommended... but as far as required fuel, the non vvt-i engines (03-04) do NOT require 91 and may run on 87 but the 05-present have the VVt-i engine that require 91
  11. Welcome! Feel free to roam all the model forums for advice and mod suggestions ;)
  12. Rust-proofing is the way to go when the car is brand new. I do rust-proofing in the Philippines because of the super salty roads when it rains a lot. I dont have snow here in my part of California but in the Philippines I'm very consistent with check-ups and re-spray of the rust-proofing of my vacation cars over there. Goodluck ;)
  13. In my personal opinion, as long as you properly maintain it, i dont think you should be needing extended warranty. My GX is one of the first to come out, and I never bought the extended warranty and so far no problems (knocks on wood)... ;)
  14. Common problems have been discussed numerous times already. But for a quick cheat sheet of them, here they are: Clunk from rear driveshaft (there is a TSB for it) Sulfur Smell (more common in 03s, but still possible in 04s) Leaning from KDSS Vibration (forgot where it came from, i think it was from the steering.. common in 03s and 04s) But since the 04 you are looking at is at 60k miles, I presume it's probably been through the 60k check/tune-up so you shouldnt worry too much about it. As far as the ride difference between all the years, there is none. The KDSS is mainly for off-road purposes but I believe (correct me if i'm wrong) it does not affect the ride comfort of the vehicle. Goodluck!
  15. Lol. Never mind Mac.. At first I thought you were changing the tail light bulbs (which I dont know why one should do that since they are already LEDs) and thought that they started to short on you or something.. But I just realized you meant the reflector covers haha My bad hehe Denny
  16. Try haggling from INVOICE and down... First research the invoice on TMV (i believe they're on Edmunds site also) and then at least have an idea on the back of your head. Walk into the dealership, ask them or haggle with them FROM INVOICE... Then the dealer will try to give you THEIR invoice and then you can compare if they're about the same as TMV's invoice or higher... Then you try and haggle from there.. Another technique is, if you're trading a car in, don't expect much out of it BUT dont mention to the sales guy that you are trading in a car (if you are).. Work the numbers on the 570 first then deal with the trade-in.. ;)
  17. "PAYBACK" but already taken I think... "UTOT MO" on th e Benze,,, Filipino for "YOU'R A !Removed!" for real. Sorry to attack this thread, but you Filipino bro? haha.. How bout "POGI AKO" (in filipino meaning I'm handsome)... At least only Filipinos would be the ones keying your car lol :P
  18. I saw pictures of the new E a couple months ago. Honestly, with my personal opinion, it has to grow on me. I prefer the current E actually hehe. Love the performance of the E (well at least the E350 I've driven) ;) :D
  19. Nicks Gs lol.. If I were to personalized mine, I would put "Denz GX" lol plain and simple Honestly if I know that we are going to keep the 4Runner for a long time, I would probably change the plates to Denz T4R since I got a fake euro plate and put it on the front of my 4Runner
  20. I will definitely keep you guys posted! You guys have really opened a new door for me on this topic... It's not going to be a HUGE debate as this is just in preparation for my final in an English 3 (Critical Thinking) class this semester. I had to get a topic this soon because the teacher wants us to get working on it already and I have a 2-3 page essay due fri on some research that we've looked up based on MY side of the topic (now it's my partner's problem to figure out his side of the debate lol)... I might be able to post up the essay here tomorrow if I don't become too busy :) Sorry it's been a hectic schedule for me. Horrible brutal Chemistry test today, and now this essay... <_<
  21. Hey Steve. Sounds like a very good debatable topic but honestly I'm not into politics too much and I try to stay away from political debates hehe I'll also keep that in mind though but I'm not too sure at this point if I can change my final debate topic.. I'll see... Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks guys .. :)
  22. Belated Happy Birthday
  23. Thats pretty interesting.. lol.. Everything from a SmartCar to a Scaglietti... A lot of the police cars in my area are becoming Chargers also. Problem is, my city ordered the WRONG engines. They ordered a whole fleet of V6 Chargers while the next town to us ordered (and should be for all places) the V8 Chargers
  24. Ya I'm going to get a Consumer Reports magazine soon but I would also love to gather some websites that (are credible) also mention foreign cars being better than American cars. I'm probably just going to talk about the performance, reliability, and economical aspects of the company. I think it will get too complicated if i talk about the business aspect of the companies but that is a good idea though. Thanks for the tip. I dont think my debate requires that much but I will definitely keep that in mind just in case I need to add more to my debate. Thanks. :)
  25. Ok guys here's what I have going on. For one of my classes I had to choose a debate topic for my final this semester. I came up (with my partner who doesnt really care too much so I get my way this time lol) with "Why foreign cars are better than American cars" Should be kinda easy right? Lexus and Toyota are pretty much a lot better in most aspects but I need a little help. I need a few good sources that states (can't be biased so it can't just be Toyota/Lexus but it has to include like Honda, Acura, Nissan, Infiniti, possibly Hyundai since they are "foreign") for a fact that foreign cars are better in a lot of apsects like reliability, value, economical (gas), etc.. I know a lot of you are always reading news articles or websites regarding car reviews so I thought I'd make a post here and see what you guys could help me out on. Thanks!
