  1. Does anybody know if GX mats are under the toyota recall? I would'nt mind a new set of floor mats if they are giving those out. If there is a recall, I assume we would be getting a letter in the mail right?
  2. I bought mine directly from the auction - I paid quite a bit lower than if I got the same thing via a CPO program. The auctions are mostly lease returns and I checked the carfax history prior to buying since the auction run list has Year/Model/Mileage/Color/Trim and VIN number. The auction I got mine is in PA and its a dealer only auction so I went with a dealer and got the car I liked.
  3. You can register online lexus.com at https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home with your appropriate model year and the whole manual is available as search-able pdf format under vehicle resources. You can also request for a new paper manual but that's not necessary.
  4. I have the same problem with my '04 which was also driven in PA. The best lexus could offer me is they will pay 1/2 of the replacement cost of the wheels which is 500 a piece. I am still contemplating if I should take the offer or just keep driving as is since it does not effect the ride at all. Mine is out of warranty but yours is probably still under the 4 yr / 50K warranty then you should get full replacement on these. Lets keep us updated of your situation. 5. I have experienced this with my '04 model. Lexus offered to pay 1/2 price if I buy new set of wheels for $2000 so I would pay $1000 for a set of 4 - mine is out of the 4 yr warranty so they are saying that its a favor that they are paying 50% You can view my post here. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...mp;#entry366836
  6. Exactly!!! - I recently took my GX for an $80 oil change at the lexus dealership. I would have done it myself but I thought of just going and check with them about the wheels. The service tech said that this car might have been parked at a beach house or driven in an area where they have a lot of snow. The 7 year corrosion warranty does not apply to wheels and I am out of my 4 year warranty. I am a little disappointed with this as how come a car that is just 4 years old has rusty wheels? I have a 95 maxima which is driven in snow for last 10 years has no signs of rust on wheels. I will write to lexus customer service about this. Update : I contacted Lexus about this situation they said to take it to the dealer and show the wheels to the manager at the dealership. I took it to the dealership and the manager inspected the wheels and said that she will get back to me after talking to Lexus. She got back to me after a month or so and said that Lexus has "offered" to pay the cost of 2 wheels if I pay the other 2 wheels and each wheel cost $525 so I have to pay $1050 to get all 4 wheels replaced. I am thinking about not bothering with them at this point and maybe get aftermarkets later. Any suggestions?
  7. I also have an 04 GX - I bought a 9" clarion and had it installed by a local shop. It has a FM mod so you have to tune your radio to a certain frequency to get the sound from the speaker system. The clarion comes with two sets of wireless headphones which are really good. The picture is one of the best in business. My advice would be to go with a good name brand. Saving a few buck on this is not worth it. My installation cost about $150 and the tech did an excellent job he got the power wired straight from the battery with additional fuses etc. Really clean job and would recommend him if you are in the DC metro area.

  9. Wow you got a great deal - I bought mine about 3 months ago also an 04 but without NAV and Mark Levinson and paid about 23K for that. Mine had 38K miles on it though. The Mark Levinson stereo is packaged with the NAV option. Enjoy the GX with these cheap gas prices going on now !!
  10. Was this done past the 4 yr warranty?
  11. Thanks for the prompt answer - I appreciate you taking time to answer. Have a question - How do you care for the sunroof. Any suggestions? Any particular type of lubrication / grease needed for this. I am not sure since this is the first car I own that have a sunroof. I am not really impressed with the CD player that came with it - its the standard version with no capability of MP3 playback. On the other hand this is an 04 and MP3 players were not common back then.
  12. I have just installed an aftermarket overhead DVD player. Yeah it goes in place of the door light. I would not try to do it myself since you need to open up the door side panels and run wiring through etc. I paid $150 to a tech and he did an excellent job. I would definitely recommend him if you are in the DC area. The dvd unit I got is from the internet since I got a great deal on it. Its a clarion 10" screen. I would recommend a top brand like Clarion or Sony don't buy a no-name made in China model.
  13. I am a new and excited owner of an 04 GX with 38K miles. The truck is in immaculate condition for a 4 yr old vehicle - except for the wheels which have what it seems like some corrosion starting to happen. Some places in the outer rim has paint chipping which is unusual since I thought alloy wheels are not painted I may be wrong. The 4 yr warranty has expired on this but I have heard that there is a 7 yr corrosion warranty? Does anyone know that it will cover the wheels? One other thing that just happened is the front right turn signal bulb blew which I should be able to change as I have noted in this forum that its a common issue with the GX. I am pleasantly surprised with the mileage of this model it easily gives 20+ on highway and 17 in city, I was expecting a little lower than this. Overall I am really satisfied with the vehicle so far and look forward to keeping it a long time.
