Hey, you are getting GREAT gas mileage! i have a 97' with about 80k miles on it, and i am only getting 16mpg. YUP! 16miles per gallon, and it sucks When 91 octane gas is $2.32 US dollar it cost me $36 to fill up 16 gallons. California is sucking right now. I don't drive freeways much, mostly streets, and when i AM on the freeway there is stop and go traffic. Ive done fule treatments etc. but i believe because i am a city driver and i don't stay at a steady pace on the roads, my mileage suffers. Be thankful for what ya got! ~ProZac~

My GOODNESS I HATE THE CUP HOLDER ON MY 97!!!! it only holds BIG !Removed! drinks, and that is only because it rests against the center consule... I like the straight shifter, not too important to me. The S shifters confuse me :P Thats it for now :)

Yea, don't worry about 20 feet. Seems like almost every time i let somebody else drive my car, they don't understand how to work the darn parking brake (Why Lexus changed the 97 to a foot pedal brake from its origional hand brake on the gen 1, i guess we'll never know) I just got new brakes on and let my Girlfriend take my car and i specifically said "Remember the PARKING BRAKE on the left by your foot!" Well i got a call from her shortly after "im around the corner, how do i turn this thing off????" Anyway, she went more than 20 feet and my parking brake is just fine. Our cars can take a lot of crap sometimes and thats why we love em! ~Brian~

at the pump last week, i was able to squeez in another gallon of gas after the automatic shut off! yes topping off. There is more room usually after the auto shut off. its just up to you weather or not you want to, or care to. I do it each time so that i can better calculate my Average miles per gallon for that tank :) As a side note, i was topping off my girlfriend's Civic last year, and was putting the pump back in the terminal at the station and she turned on the car before i put the Gas Cap back on. Gas started backflowing out the hole, i had to put the cap on as gas was comming out to stop it. So! this just teaches you that some women are crazy! The End Just kidding. i just wonder if i didn't top off if it still would have backflowed when turned on without the cap? Brian~

I used the ding king. my car had little dings on it before i bought it, i used the ding king and it didn't do anything. it said it may take up to 10 tries to do it, but i still had no result. I am guessing because the dings were about the size of a penny, and in spots where the metal was stronger, like one on the rear driver-side door near the door handel. I dunno... i was kinda sad that it didn't do a thing because dings show up pretty good on black :( ~ProZac~

Hey Chillaxin, Don't feel bad, i live right below you in Orange County, and this weather we've had lately, my poor car has dirt all over it. Also, the neighbors got a new pool put in so dirt and crap is still all in the streets and that doesn't help keep my car clean. I do try to keep the inside nice though! and i have polished my chrome rims a couple of times since ive had the car, all i have to say is *Bling-Bling* *Hugs to my auto* Brian

lito, My mom has a 92 Previa Van. Her oil light turns on every 5,000 miles. I believe you can rest it by a botton INSIDE the dash by the spedometer. If you can see in this picture, right under where it says MPH, it says "Oil Change" When the light comes on, and we change the oil, you push that botton and it turns off the light untill another 5,000 miles. Now, i have a 97' and it doesn't have that, but since your 93 lex and my mom's 92 previa are about the same age, it might be the same! Let me know! Oh, that black thing on the glass just peels off, and you stick a pen in there to push the botton, then the blackthing pops back on! Hope that helped, Brian

On my mom's toyota, her OIL light comes on every like 5k or 10k miles to remind you that you need an oil change. and once you get it changed the mechanic is suppose to reset it. could that be the thing??? ~ProZac~

Hey guys, to relate to the SPEED Thread, i was driving against my buddy who has a new 2003 acura rsx type-S. My 97 did Pretty good! though he did beat me each time. Anyway, going from 120 down to 0 within kinda a short period of time (#1 we passed police on the other side of the road pulling somebody over #2 red light comming up) and i was pushing pretty hard on my brakes and I didn't feel the ABS kick in, and the breaks felt like they were slowing me down but not stopping. i JUST got BRAND NEW brakes put on a month ago exactly. Do you think my brakes were TOO hot, or was i maybe not pushing them hard enough to engage the ABS??? They also Machined the Rotors. Anybody have an explaination for my (what i felt was) not soo good braking? Thanks! Brian Oh, i believe they are OEM ceramic brake pads

OH yea, if ya don't remember, i got a 97 :)

I hit 120mph going home from school last week! It was night time, and i was going on to the freeway from an on-ramp, and nobody was on the road, so i said, "Hell, why not" I would have gone past 120, but i saw cars getting on another ramp so i slowed down. i slowed to 100 and felt like i was doing 65 (but every body does 90 on that freeway anyway)! Also gotta remember m8's, tires have speed rateings, and i believe most ES tires are rated for 130mph top speeds! Another thing, I didn't seem to get into 4th gear untill i hit 90mph, or what i remember is getting up there in speed and felt the car shift (i almost thought i had another gear :D ), so maybe OverDrive knew i was going for the gold and waited to boost me till i got high up there :P ~Brian~

The new Camry looks pretty good. not as cool as the ES, though its pretty similar. What i don't get is why hasn't lexus put more Umph! into the engines??? I mean. my 97 es, goes pretty darn fast, pretty darn quick, but if they at least bumped it to what their competators are doing, it would be nice! but also, i guess thats what the ES330 will do, took them long enough... As for the shapes of the cars, the best to me is the GS series, and YES, navigation is SOOO awesome i wish there was one for my 97 :( anyway the GS is not too round, its got nice curves :whistles: :whistles: :whistles: and the bottome skirt looks really nice (almost like some BMW M skirts ive seen) the pick is too big to IMG, so here's the link! http://us.lexusownersclub.com/gallery/GS/GS430 Ahhh... WOW, nice integra! why did you sell it??? There are kits for the 97' but they are expensive. one i know of looks SUPER SWEET but its $3000 Check out this past Thread. Hey guys. i was driving the othernight, and the gas light was ALMOST going to come on... I floor it and i get SUPER SPEED!!! I relate this to the fact that there isn't all that gas in my car to weigh me down... but to be sure i wonder if anybody else experences this? AND if they actually know the weight of all that Gas??? i could probably find it on Google. but, i thought it would be an interesting new topic :) Thanks! Brian

I believe the airbag light is on because it has pased 10 years. Im pretty sure that after 10 years you have to get the airbag checked, and every 2 years after that... it should say somewhere in the car. as for the mechanical stuff... im not sure :) ~Brian~

I have heard of an ES year with the manual option, never acutally seen a picture tho ~brian~

AHhh THAT box... it actually easily comes off with a little preasure. I just took mine off last week to check my fuses. No there is no spring. I actually forget its even there. Mine pulls open. and closes just as easily... if ya don't use it.. and it doesn't look bad.. i would just leave it. If you want to take it out... Pull up/outward, then you have to turn it sideways a bit inside the dash because there are 2 stoppers on each side to keep it from falling out when it is in normally. Maybe you canpull it out and see how it goes from there :) ~Brian~
