  1. A quote from SW30ES, in the Bad language thread that was moved: "I'm just saying that as a community leader, I personally have never read anything on the site that I would deem as "innapropriate" to the point that I as a moderator would remove it." Are you joking? You removed me twice, and I didnt even swear? Chris
  2. Hmm yes. I do remember laughing at that guy. And if I may remind you. It was not just because of him putting the wrong badges on... It was the mere fact that he had obviously thought that I had rebadged mine, and gave me attitude.. The fact that I laughed was that I understood that I rebadged my car, but atleast I rebadged it correctly? Chris
  3. Japanese people have been doing it for years. It is after all a Toyota? Chris
  4. Ok, before you tell me to relax. I am very sorry that you were unable to understand my post, and what I was trying to say???.. All I was trying to do was find out a reason for why this person (who was obviously a so called new memeber) was writing all about the rules of this club.. The problem was that by simply replacing his post with club rules had made it very confussing for some, as I was one that was getting PM's from people asking what it was about? Why I was being asked I dont know... Secondly. I was never condoning anyones behaviour when it comes to advertising, but if it were a situation where it was a thread in which someone needed help with a certain service. And somebody could offer that service through their own business ect.. Then I am all for it!... As for my question about LOC merchandise.. Well I think I have every right to ask that.. The mere fact of not allowing people to advertise, and then expect people to buy stuff without knowing where the money goes is a little irresponsable?.. If it costs money to run a web site, and the money is used for that. Then say it!!... If it were a situation where it was someone who found their way into a niche, and decided that the only way to make money is to dissallow any competition, then, this is not what I or others would like to see happen? If it is a sensitive nerve that I have touched. Then maybe some figuers should be shown as to the costs of running this site? After all it is a club? Chris
  5. Ok for starters. What is this guy on about. Who is he? Secondly, I guess I am known as a usually controvercial person at times, but always do have legit questions to ask.. If people cant talk about certain business's at times. Then how can people get an idea or feel for certain things that they may be seeking or looking for? Secondly, this is an open forum as I see it, and I guess we would say something if someone was blatantly using the boards for monetary gain... But in saying this. At some stage, maybe someone may be able to offer assistance to a certain person in need. And I find that the main reason for why we have this board.. Is to get answers and solutions to our problems. (By solutions, I mean maybe having to use someones services on this board to get something fixed ect?) Lastly. The way I see it. This board is one big advertisement for the Lexus Owners Club.. Who is the Lexus Owners Club. What is their purpose in life. And why are they allowed to sell stuff on this spam free environment? Where does the money raised from merchandise sales go. And how does that money help others???? Chris
  6. Hey Piggy, I dont want you to think that I am being critical, because I am not? I have been reading your posts over the last few weeks. And I have to question why you are so worried about keeping this car? .. The way I look at it is simple.. A vehicle is not only meant to be something that is appealing to the eye. But it should also be reliable, and cost affective.. From the sounds of things. Your car in niether?.. The fact that it is a Lexus, and that it is seen by many as a status symble, should not be the main reason for keeping it? You youself have admitted that it is a lemmon on many occassions. And I have to be honest when I say that I totally agree with your parents thinking.. I know that I wouldnt be shelling out hundreds of dollars every time something goes wrong with my daughters car. Considering that I never get to drive it?.. Anyways, I didnt want to sound like a downer. But I do believe Lexus usually do produce reliable vehicles. But sometimes even they get it wrong.. I think you should just call it a day. And even though it sound like something that you dont want to do. Maybe you should downsize to something that is smaller and more affordable to run.. God. I am sure that everyone here has had to drive something that they didnt like, at some stage in their life?... We have all had to work for what we have, and so didnt just wake up one day with a Lexus in the driveway.... I think your parents may be on the right thing with wanting to get rid of it? Your still young. And I think Lexus will be making cars for years to come? Chris
  7. He he he... No they certainly dont use Lex's for taxi's here.. They actually use a very old model of the Toyota Crown.. In fact it has served so well as a Taxi, that they have continued that model to be used as a Taxi since the 70's, that they are still producing them. Just with newer insides and stuff....I guess they are a simble here. Much like the yellow cabs in NY.. You just couldnt get rid of them now? As for the difference between Lexus and Toyota. SW03ES is right. Lexus is Toyota here. Just different names.. To a Japanese person. The Toyota Crown is the pinicle of luxury.. In fact Lexus doesnt even have this model.. The best Lexus has, is the Toyota Celsior. (LS) ..And it is only a shadow of the Crown vehicle.. Truelly is a nice car that Crown. I would give my lefty!..... If you go to www.toyota.co.jp It is the Japanese Toyota site.. If you notice on the right of the page. It has the logo for both Toyota, and Lexus.. So some Japanese have some idea as to what Lexus is here.. Plus, I see alot of rebadged Altezza's (IS) and Aristo's (GS) and the like here aswell.. Chris
  8. Well as everyone knows that mine is originally a Toyota, and I found my color codes on the engine wall behind the engine.. Open the hood, and look at the back wall of the engine bay. And there should be a silver plate or sticker... Lexus's are Toyota, so dont know why it wouldnt be there on the Lexus.. Thats how I found my paint number.. eg: Mine is a 2 tone silver and grey.. The silver color is T-6E The T stands for Toyota.... If you are looking at paints in the paint shop, and it has N, it should mean Nissan, or H Honda, D Diahatsu ect ect... So I am guessing that the Lex's will have a Toyota color... Thats the way it is here in Japan.... Here is an interesting fact.. My wifes cousin works for Toyota. He works in the paint section.. The old ES's arent made anymore. But he was telling me about how interesteing it was when they were working a car.. Basically its this simple... The cars that came through with the steering wheel on the right was then sent on to get Toyota badges.. Any cars comming through with the steering wheel on the left, was going into the Lexus badging room... I never knew this until yesterday, at his wedding. But he told me, that my car was probably made, at the factory that is about 10 minutes away from me... Whenever people see my car. They always say nice Lexus.. But I remember when he first saw it. He gave me a funny little glare, and an unbelievable nod.. Before he was in close range of it, he knew!.... He has told me so many stories about the different cars that have rolled out of there... Its funny. He actually ownes one of the those brand new big Toyota people movers.. He has decked this thing out with spoiler kits and rims.. When they were still making the Lexus's, he pocketed some badges, but never had a use for them... So I said, clear your Toyota badges, and throw the L's on.. So he did.. This thing looks awsom.. if Lexus ever bring out a wagon, this thing should be the way to go!!!! Chris
  9. Ok, in a different post, I noted that I thought I might have trouble getting my ES to the States, and will have to go back to driving my Jeep?... Does anyone know anything about, if I am able to bring a right hand drive vehicle into the United States? In particular Georgia??? Please help!!!! Chris
  10. ok wandawoods.. I am lost.. Doesnt make sence? You said that you were a citizen in 94. But you had a business for 10 years.. Still only 03?? But folded? So how does that work out?...I actually lived in Atlanta myself....... The e-bay thing I dont know about? Hope all is well with that? Chris
  11. Great job guys.. Very interesting!!! Chris I get so excited about stupid things... I am completely renivating my ES.. I have replaced the wood trim with silver.. Doors, air vents, back ashtrays, the works.. I will get a picture as soon as I can!
  12. Hi, sometimes forget to look over at peoples profile. So thought that after we had done the "what does everyone do" forum. I thought I would do this... Ok, I will start.. I am an Australian, currently living in Fukuoka, western Japan. I lived in Atlanta until 2000.. After a short stay back in Aus, I moved here to Japan with my homesick Japanese wife... After 3 years here, next April, we are planning to pack up again, and move back to Atlanta GA! But dont what I will do with my ES.. Not sure if I will be able to bring it to the states with me.. (Right hand drive).. I do however still have my JEEP waiting for me. So I may have to become a snobby nosed JEEP driver again?..... Chris
  13. Looks like I start? Ok.. Silver 1996 ES300. Re-badged 96 Toyota Windom Lexter... 2.5... 88,800 kms. Never had any problems with it. (Touch wood) Timing belt and so forth were all replaced before purchased.. Although will need to find out why I am starting to get condensation inside the front right headlight.. Outside mods: Chroming of orange turn signals on front headlights. Complete rebadging.. Chrome silver .... Inside: 2 tone, black and silver.. All wood panels have been replaced, including around upper area aircon controls with silver coverings. Door wood coverings all replaced with silver.. Factory radio ect, all replaced by 6"-3" faced Sony CD-Md player with large display screen, and Caz surround speakers... Whats to come?: Complete chroming of the front grille.. 17" wheels. ...And 3 tone light red, black and dark red coloring (aka Mercedes) of rear taillights.. Chris
  14. Hi.. I would be interested in your centre wheel badges.. Are they for the centre of the stock 15".. I have a 96.... Do you, or can you get a pic of them for me to look like? Chris
  15. D.C.. .. I spent 3 days in D.C, during the summer of 2000.. I personally fell in love with the place.. I am a bit of a political junky.. Both U.S policy, and Australian Parliment process.. Anyways.. A friend of mine in Atlanta, has an Uncle that is, or was a congressman (can't remember now) But anyways, he got us aboard a West Wing press tour.. Got to sit and watch all the media ask Clinton a few questions.. Was kinda neat. As part of my Television training, I took Journalism as a part of my course. So got to see what my life might have been if I had've taken that path I guess?. Anyway. I just enjoyed sight seeing, and taking in all of the history.. Nice place you have there!.. Have wanted go back and see it during Winter! Chris
