  1. Yea, but on the trd website, it doesn't mention a sc for the camery... And, how much gas did u guzzel and on what car steviej? And could you still drive conservate and get semi good gas mileage? ProZac
  2. Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you guys knew how much psi a 97 engine could take? I don't have enough money to buy a supercharger now, but next year i just might! And it always helps to do your homework early. Also, i want to start researching what Supercharger would be good in my car, any links to any good/cost efficient ones??? :) All the TRD supers appear to be made for Toyota Tucks and SUV's... im confused and i am thinking supercharger over turbo, as turbo takes up more room, and needs more work to maintain. Thanks ProZac
  3. Sk, Sloted? is that holes also? (a pic might better explain) :P ~ProZac~
  4. akiraxtc, When it was at 32 it seemed too low, like it was riding on the side a little from looking at it. Also, my mechanic who has done ALL servicing on my car since 97 does it all (the person who i bought it from has the same mechanic) It is a Lexus and Toyota servicing place only. So everything is done there from brakes to engine. The only thing we do elsewere is our Tires, which we have done at Costco :) ProZac
  5. lol, im in my early 20's too. i love my es but i always want more (i.e. the power and stile of GS). My dad still wants to drive my car when he takes business people to lunch The great thing about lexus is how it is age blind. One of my customers is in her late 60's and has es too, and we both say how much we love them! B) We got good cars mates, plain and simple! ~ProZac~
  6. Allright guys... ITs gotta be 'tune up' time... Average of 15.48mpg and i was pretty conservative. Today when i filled up. i Filled my front tires too.. QUESTION: I have seen it coverd before on the boards, but. How much PSI should be in the front tires of my 97?? the manual says 32, but the tires say up to 44psi and 12psi under the max seems too low, right? it was fine for the rain, but now its all sun, so i hope my new 41psi will help my mileage. I am due for new brakes and an oil change this month, if its not TOO much more ill ask them to do a tune up. What does a "tune up" do? do they make sure the distributer is fireing right? or do they hook it to this so called 'dino' i keep hearing about? or do they tweak the ecu??? Thanks for all the support m8's ~ProZac~
  7. Wow, there is a dealer 7 miles from my house... maybe i should check them out :)
  8. I LOVE the ALL black. gslx4s u got these skirts?? have you repainted your ride? I want to make my car ALL black (i have 97es black with charcoal trim) but people are like "it would look dumb all black" BUT DAMN. look at that all black ES. looks P I M P. Well, and i hear if u get a repaint, that there is a bigger chance that it could come off easier etc, but all i would need to do is change the Pannels and front and back bumpers, im guessing??? :D ProZac
  9. NeiLtYmE, I thought ceramic pads where harder? ProZac
  10. Interestin.. B) Well, im going in for oil change and to get my brakes changed next month, maybe ill have a fule cleaning while they're at it should i have them check the Alternater and battery then or not worry about it? These people have been doing the servicing on this car since 97, so they should know whats up, but its good to have a second oppinion B) ProZac
  11. Hey Guys, Ive been noticeing, when i have the Head Lights on at night, and i Roll up or down my windows, the lights dim a little bit. Also today, i had the A/C on FULL and i wanted to 'test' the power, so i Rolled up and down the windows, and they FULL A/C went down in power. Now this may be normal, but if just rolling the windows up and down dim the lights, and give less power to the a/c, then whats happening to my Spark Plugs and power in my engine??? I don't notice any driveing power problems, but is there something im not seeing? Shouldn't my alternater be able to power all that stuff without hesitation or dimming? Thanks! ProZac
  12. MCV20, *Drooooool* Looks GREAT m8! I wonder how they would look on my black/charcoal 97??? How hard was it to do??? and how much? It might be an achieveable Mod for me :D Also, im gonna change my tail lights to the Red/white from the red/yellow, there is a Gen 2.5 around the corner from me, it looks SOO pimp, and thats the only real noticeable difference from mine, well and it kinda looks blacker and sportier, yet its not modded :) Dunno.. :D Also, SK i thought u said TRD stoped making the 97 kits??? ProZac B)
  13. I thought so... those jerks!!! :P if i disconnect the battery for like 30 mins. then plug it all back in, would that reset the ECU? or does the '97 not have a smart ecu (like one that learns how i drive)??? i have had the car about 5 months now, and got it from an older lady, she didn't drive it too hard. so im thinking, if it is a smart chip, then i can re-teach it! ~ProZac~
  14. Well what about one of these http://www.weapon-r.com/ecu.html its got from 95es300's and up. however on the site it gives to purchase the thing, it does not list lex es300. BUT wow... it is still like $700. thats almost halfway to a supercharger. It seems like it promises TOO much also, like a 18~30 gain in HP, is that realistic just from adding a piggyback ECU??? ProZac
  15. Hey guys, ive been wondering, have any of you tried to add a piggyback ECU or a "better" ecu to your cars? I mean, i wouldn't expect a HUGE performance increase, but a little would be nice :D I'm looking up info on-line right now, but was wondering if some of you would know more? Thanks, ProZac
  16. bartkat, lol... now THOSE would be good times! now you can't even buy a stamp for 24 cents... The lowest i remember gas being was around 75 cents... but im only 21 :P ~ProZac~
  17. MCV20, Wow, great pics! im not too familiar with that stuff... so did u have the front lip painted? or did TRD have your color?? I like how it looks!!! I email'd one of the TRD places near my house 3 months ago about pricing on a TRD SC for my lex... no reply... guess the manager hasn't gotten into the "computer era" Keep us posted if you get a skirt on the back too! ~ProZac~
  18. Welcome! you'll have fun here! ProZac
  19. LOL! Sk, how often do you use those treatments?? it says 3,000 miles. And at least i know now that my engine isn't getting worse So full tilt eh? Ill go drive on the Hill part of town just to make sure, but im already on the next tank... hrmm oh well.. We'll see if this tank gets anybetter B) ProZac
  20. Hey MCv20, got any pics??? i got a 97 lex. so i just wanted to see :D Also, do u have it trd supercharged? ~ProZac~
  21. spalkin, Streets here in sourthern (at least where i live) are like racetracks! hehe :P ALSO, people seem to like to JUMP outta nowhere in there cars here. Just this sunday, while i was driving the speedlimit, an SUV decided to not look and pull out infront of me, if i didn't have good breaks my lex would be in the shop right now! I would just recomend choosing the best brakes for where you live. i.e. if you live in the country and traffic is seldome an issue, you may not need to pay the extra $ for SUPER brakes. BUT if you live in any place like i do, where a freeway doing 70 can go to a full stop in seconds, grippier brakes might be worth it. but as spalkin said, stock ones should be good especially if you do obey speed limits and are a causious driver, and Lexus should know best too, they did build the car :P Good luck NeiLtYme, ProZac
  22. WELL..... what i have to do on my 97 is while they are in the rest position.. you kinda have to force them up. Gently but firmly pull them up, NOT OUT! they will sorta click out of that rest position and into the replacment position where you can then pull them out to clean or replace. I tried turning them on then turning them off while in mid wipe. and that didn't work. once you are done, lay them back down, then gently and firmly push them back in to rest position, they should click back in!!! I was kinda scared at first doing it, because i thought i would strip the gears, but once i did it, it felt like it was made to. and if you look in the owners manual, it shows a little diagram! Now REMEMBER! this is on my 97 es, it may be different for your 98, however i believe it is the same on all gen 2 es's Good luck, and lemme know how it goes ProZac
  23. Well twstdmr2, in my 97, the 6 disc changer is in the glove box, but in the older ones i think it may be in the trunk! Good luck finding your stuff, ProZac
  24. akiraxtc!!!! You lucky dog you!!!! yea... i put that fule cleaner in my tank last week and filled up tonight.... 14.68mpg... lol its WORSE!!!!! well... i think when i get my brakes done (Which needs to be in a month or two cause u can hear more and more noise) i will have them do a tune up. Also.... have you guys every tried a Piggy back ECU, ya know, they regulate airflow better and junk???? cause ive heard they are pretty good, and if the tune up doesn't help too much, ill try one of those. Well this month i have filled up 3 times ( i didn't think i drove THAT much ). and i have the ratio of it all. A total of 705.3 miles driven from 5/1 - 5/21 and a total of 44.434 Gallons used to make an average of 15.87Miles per gallon. Total spent on gas was $91.82 in less than a month WOW... we are getting KILLED here in California!!! Any other stats getting charged around $2 for 91 octane??? BOY its a rough life, ProZac
  25. Ya Gav, Its REALLY easy to make the sound (at least on my 97 es). Under the Drivers steering wheel, there is a round knob, it turns clockwise and counterclockwise, that is what makes the BEEP louder or softer. You might need a flash light to find it. but its under there (under the wheel but above the peddels). Just to make sure, check in your owners manual, it should have a section on keyless entry beeper :D thats where i found out about mine :) ProZac
