  1. No. I will try that, maybe that is the way to do it. The manual is so thick...some day I will figure it all out. Thanks for the tip. I am sure thats the way to do it.
  2. Question related to push start. Still exploring the manual, but is there a way to run the accessories without actually running the engine?? i.e. if I just want to park and play CDs, or explore the system, I have not figured out a way without actually pressing the start button (and yes, burning unnecessary gas). Unlike the key ignition, where it has an accessory stop before starting the engine. I hope I am making sense. Thanks.
  3. First time Lexus buyer. So, obviously love it, but nothing to compare from prior experience. Things are love - Smooth ride. Handles corners very well without major passenger shift. Technologically advanced. Quiet a bit. For its class, it offers a lot of technology. Back to performance - ride is smooth, except for a little strain when it starts from zero. This is where you hear engine noise the most, but immediately after that, it quiets down that you dont even notice its running. Steering is very smooth. And much much more. Things I dont like - Cabin lighting. Not all controls light up at night, especially overhead controls. Not that you are flying a plane, but still, you would expect that in this class. I notice you lease a lot. From what I read, leasing does not make sense, in terms of finances. Unless you get a tax break, how can you justify it? You dont have to answer this. Just curious.
  4. Thanks for the responses. Its comforting to know that its not lighted. It does not solve my problem, though. The light button is different color, so its easy to spot, but everything else is dark color, so it is hard to guess. I agree, this is my first one, and its barely 2 weeks old. I will get used to it, just like everybody else. On the positive side - everything else is great. I transitioned from Highlander to RX. So, you can imagine my euphoria. Thanks guys for the reassurance. And please bear my ignorance.
  5. Unlike most controls that you are supposed to push, the Home Link buttons (1,2,3) do not light up at night. As a result, when I try to open my garage, I have to turn the cabin light to actually locate the right button. Question: Are these buttons supposed to light up? If not, how do most people manage this chore?
  6. I bought my RX late August 09. I assume it came with 8.1. Am I entitled to a complimentary 9.1 upgrade, or no chance?
  7. Pardon my ignorance. What is 'clay bar'? I am totally new to this, and never cared about my Highlander. But RX is my baby. I am about to buy Maguires Wax 2.0, but I would like to know the fine print, so please explain what you are warning about. Thanks.
  8. Hi, I have not picked up my RX yet, and would the group to share their experience on an easy question: The 3 month trial on XM - does it activate when you make the purchase, or you need to contact XM and activate it? If later, do I have an option so say, do it ANYTIME, or there is a certain time limit. Thanks,
  9. I have a related question. A lot new cars have what is called 'adaptive acceleration' in their lingo. What I understand is, you 'teach' your car how you would like it to accelerate. Am I making sense? Is there such a thing? If yes, how would you approach this with a brand new car. I will be getting my new RX from a dealer hundreds of miles away, and driving home. Is it OK to go over 75 on a brand new car, or I have to do this slowly? My goal is to get the strongest acceleration from a stop. That 0-60 thing. Thanks.
  10. I just put a deposit on 2010 RX 350. Finally! However, I got it from a dealer far far away, not my local dealer. Price, of course. My question is this: There is no doubt I will be servicing my vehicle at my local dealer. Do they give you a hard time if they find out that it was not purchased locally? Or, is there a way for them to find out at all? I know a lot of dealers put their names in the back, but I doubt Lexus does that. Just curious. Thanks,
