  1. Hed hurts are the following. The nav disk is correct, other cars' of the same model 2004 do read it - just checked in friends' car. Mine also read but now after 1.5 years of use it writes "insert correct disk". Also many icons disappeared from INFO screen - only remaining are "Screen Settings", "Telephone", and "Trip Info". And there is no voice through speakers after connecting via bluetooth any more. So what is the price for those components ?
  2. There are 2 modules under the passenger seat in my LX ( model 2004). One box - is where u insert DVD nav disk (I reffer to it as a DVD-player), another box is smaller and it is under the first. I don't know how exactly u call these 2 components, are they both called "nav computer" , or one of them is "DVd -player" while another is a "computer". Anyhow one of them or both in my LX are broken and malfunction. Can u advise how much do they cost ( new oem) - both or separately ? Also any ideas - "why they might start malfunction suddenly after 1.5 years of use while nobody never touched them" - are welcome.
  3. Not really. My car was delivered from the factory and nobody including me never touched the disk or whatever under passenger seat. I even never knew about the existence of DVD-computer there. It started malfunction suddenly after 1.5 years of use. Professional electronicians were right. The head of DVD-player doesn't touch a disk during play, so if nobody never eject the disk from there why must it suddenly malfunction ? Today finally I have understood and proved that the problem is with computer, not disk. Finally I found another car of 2004, inserted his disk of the same version into mine, it doesn't play, then I inserted my disk into his computer and it plays it !!! That is my computer is broken after only 5,000 miles of use without any evident reason.
  4. JimM, did u solve yr problem ? I have similar one but my appeared after 1.5 years of use. Please, see my last 3-4 threads in LX section of this board. Mine tells: "Please insert correct disk" while I never changed and never touched the disk inside.
  5. Some posters here mentioned smooth and quietness of LX/GX. Did u ever drive other SUVs such as Porsche, BMW, Mercedes and how do u compare them? And in general how do u find Lexus sedans in comparison with Mercedes sedans in quietness and smooth ride ?
  6. Can u advise what is the exact list of differences between LX470 - 2004 , 2005 and 2006. I heard 2006 model now on the display where was navigation also shows either TV or DVD ? And HP was increased ? Any changes in the exterior ? May be there is a link to the list?
  7. So no experts here ? My question is very simple. My Nav disk is broken, the hard drive under the seat was detached for some time, now it is attached again. Does bluetooth function somehow depend on the disk and memory of the hard drive ?
  8. Imagine yr Nav disk is broken. U detached for 1 hour the computer with DVD-player ( what u call "hard drive") under passenger seat and then attached it again. What will u miss on the screen ? Shortly, after cutting a power to that module what is erased from the computers' memory? In some cars after det/att a car stereo u must input some code to let them to operate in the normal mode. It is why I ask the question above. In my case I started miss a few icons such as Calendar, Maintenance which appear usually after u push on "INFO" button near the screen. Also my Bluteooth system doesn't operate anymore, devices find each other but there is no sound from speakers. If I find new Nav disk and insert it there instead of borken will everything be restored in the computer's memory and will Bluteooth operate again normally or the disk is not enough and I must input some code or do whatever ? Anybody from experts know ?
  9. I bought new LX in 2004. It was brand new absolutely. Till today it went only 15,000 km = 8-9,000 miles ( I use it rarely). Suddenly after 1.5 years Map disappeared from the screen, and "Insert correct disk" appeared on the dispaly. Nobody never opened DVD-player under passenger seat, I even never knew where it was located. Those of members who are experienced in such things, can u advise " May it be disk's fault, or it's player's head's fault?" I'm going to buy new disk from abroad but it is very expensive, and I have no Lexus service in my city.
  10. Is it possible to play 2004-2005 or 2005-2006 Navigation disk in cars with 2003-2004 Navigation disk factory installed ? I'm talking about normal versions, not about special Updates.
  11. I had " insert correct disk" problem with my Nav system in 2004 LX. The problem appeared after driving it for 1.5 years. I wasn't sure is it problem with disk or the computer itself, so I asked my friend who is electronician in car audio/video. He deattached all cables under passenger seat, opened the DVD-player, cleaned the head. Then puted everything in it's place. The same problem persists. He also told that probably the problem is with the disk because he checked the lazer and told it is OK. I'll try to find another disk. But now after putting everything in it's place some icons disappeared from the screen:after pushing on "INFO" knob I get now only "Telephone", "Trip info" and probably "Climate" ( don't remember 3-rd exactly). Now there is not "Calendar", "Service schedule" and other buttons. Additionally to this bluetooth started have some problems, no call I can do any more, nothing heard from speakers. Anybody knows what was happened with them? Is it some kind of default setting the system returned to ? What is with bluetooth muting calls ? Is it related with NAV somehow ?

  13. I have 2004 LX-470. Never opened factory DVD-player under front passenger seat. After 1.5 years of use suddenly it stopped playing factory disk with navigation files and says that can't read DVD disk. Something wrong with DVD-player or disk ? What do u think ?
  14. According www.lexus.com it seems that nothing changed. Any info about that ? Maybe engine was 225, became 235 hp ?
  15. Why some of you is telling about "Sport against Luxury". I can't tell that Cayenne is not Luxury. Inside it has everything LX has, external design is not worse if not to tell that better. Isn't ? Moreover, despite we own Lexus, the name Porsche is higher than young Lexus. I don't recommend buying basic V6 model of Cayenne, it's acceleration will be more or less same as of LX. You can buy for your wife Cayenne-S ( Turbo S is expensive) with acc. around 7 sec.
