  1. I wouldn't say he isn't a good technition ,as none of us have met him. There are always tricks and tips the dealers don;t know about .But some one has gone out and found a fix for .He just isn't aware of it being that simple as the mandate of a dealship is to replace the unit not repair the unit. If all of us knew everything about everything we would either be pompus or GOD. My bulbs in my 94 did not need to be soldered just twisted and removed.
  2. They aer just another taiwanese knock off. The stlye you have was big in 96-97 and has multiple companies copy them .So it is probably not a great brand as it also isn;t a known one to me either. Just like i saw a set of rims 10 years ago witht he name sk in the middle of them . A plain 5 spoke design that is very common for that era.
  3. Yes ,there is a tim peice below as well to be removed much easier. But you where only asking about the upper vent .
  4. You have an inline 6 cylinder engine, meaning the other 3 plugs are either befoer or after the first 3 you just found
  5. It won;t be as bad if you graft the same colour and leather onto the new seat.
  6. I have used 0-40 and it works great for winter. 40 weight would be good in any older car.
  7. no problem. I use a specific tool calle d a trim or moulding remover. It is a bent forked end like a screwdriver. Just do it slowly and the vent will pop out as some people have broken it. It is being held in by only 2 or 4 clips no screws. But you need to get it out to acess the upper bolts to remoev the radio and hvac. There are screws on the side of each peice by the front of them .Remove them and the face comes off and you can acess the bulbs easily.
  8. You already posted the question 3 times. Once is good enough.
  9. I have the same problem on my 94 ES also where it will redline and bounce off the tach until i let off the gas ,then it shifts. I would have suspected the throttle cable adjustment on mine .But i have other problems of clutch debris clogging the valve body which needs to be removed to be cleaned before it will work properly again. As i have to clean the filter ever so often other wise the tranny gets no fluid as the filter is plugged and it just gets stuck. My speedo always works normally though.
  10. Actually lextech the lights are replacable and are available from lexus parts counters. I have replaced them all in my 94 ES the dash backlighting the a/c buttons and the radio one all at once so i don;t have to remove it again just to fix one bulb a year. The bulbs are about 2-5 each and sorry i don;t have a part #. I just took the units apart and walked with the bulbs and got replacments.
  11. It is not a problem with the car it is a maintance one with the owner. Most often the owner coes not clean the car properly or at all and dirt sits against the window which scratches off the carpet of the rubber. Thus the moisture can freeze the 2 together. You also need to periodically clean and lube all the mouldings.
  12. 1994 ES 300 ;) We all agree and know it is not only a good idea ,it is a must to get an answer. I tend not to bother replying when someone hasn't taken the time to fill in all the blanks as much as possible and leaves all the guess work, like year mileage and other stuff.
  13. Xenon light bulbs are not hid's. To get the real thing costs a few hundred dollars and the new open bulbs come with a ballast in the box .
  14. I doubt you would be able to look before hte air filter as it is located inside the fender to see it .Plus it is a big plastic box not a pipe. The intake hose is the ribbed one from the air filter box to the intake manifold.
  15. They are right it will return lesser milage ,the only possible problem is the car running so rich because it can't tell the amount of gas to use ,so it dumps even more is .The unburnt gas might overheat the cat and burn it out also. Sometimes those expensive $100 fuel injection services can clean tehm out and make then normal again to remove carbon buildup .If this is its problem.
  16. Use silicone lube in a can.Spray the windows adge and rubber weatherstrip . The heat from the car when parked creates moisture and as it cools (usually from being parked outside) it freezes tne rubber to the edge of the window. If you continue to try and use the buttons you will burn the motor and switches out and have to spend a hell of alot to fix them.
  17. There are no rca cables on a stock amp and deck
  18. The gold package is a dealer option not a toyota option .You get whatever you want plated in gold and pay for it.
  19. do you have an alarm? checked the battery? added other equipment to the car like audio?
  20. check the intake hose for rips.
  21. Wow sounds like fun with all those people out there with JIC and tein coil overts for there GS,IS and SC there should be tons of people there. I have only seen the orange team lexus track cars and i think the yellow pair in the scca. I would love to be there for this event. Any idea why tyhey have a noise requirement since you are at a track? And around how much is it for a day/
  22. To fly across anything and hit something is driver error. If lexus found it was the car do you think they would let you drive it still?? People this isn;t GM or Ford ,they don't give one !Removed! about the customers once they get your money. My local paper sufficed to say shows peoples car gripes every saturday and it is always gm and ford and chrysler who either don;t respond or say too bad. I will never own a domestic again pure crap. There is never a toyota or honda complaint, as tehy always look after the vehicle they made .Not abandoning it after the infancy or warranty is up. Don't buy into this rumour that the car is the problem ,It is driver error and usually is. The problem with the rpm rev's i would also say is the tranny downshifting. If it is a newer car with brake force reduction ,then it might be itsway of getting ready to counter an evasive manouver
  23. Yes it is the sensor located inside the wheel bearing hub. If a mechanic used a hammer , he probably damaged the halo magnet sensor. As it picks up the rotaions of the cv joint by its ribbed edge. So the 2 possibilities are he damaged the sensor or the cv joint it not far enough inside the hub to contact it properly. Or a really stupid one is he forgot to reconnect the wire.
  24. Pull up the grille on the dash and pop out the speaker. Why are you going to cut the wires? When you can disconnect a harness.
  25. Can't wait to see them adn update the faq if it is possible with no fender modifications. Don't forget to post the wifth and offset of the rims as that is the most important when try to not rub on the fenders. If you can find a 19X7 rim you should be fine but trying to find it is the hard part as the 19's usually start at 19X8
