  1. I just now verified that your 97 ES uses the exact same radiator (same part numbers) as our 98 Camry V6. I went out into the garage, lifted the hood on the Camry, and looked down behind the radiator. I can see the drain plug on the back of the radiator at the bottom, on the left (passenger) side as you face the car. On our Camry, the plug sticks out pretty far and the part you grab is white -- very easy to see. Actually, there are three different part numbers shown for the radiators on both your 97 ES and our 98 Camry V6. I'm assuming that they all have drain plugs but that might not be the case. Some cars don't have drain plugs on their radiators and are drained by removing the lower radiator hose. Thanks VERY MUCH. I will check this out and get back to you, just FYI. Thanks again.
  2. I am looking to drain the coolant in my ES. Is the radiator drain plug under the skid plate or can access it without removing that POS piece? Any help will be appreciated.
  3. I did a search but was surprised to find nothing. I want to swap the stock tailights on my 1997 ES for the newer model on the 2000/2001. Is this simply buying new units and pulling out the old, ie plug and play or is there more to it than that. Thanks for any help you can provide.
  4. In a word, yes. Be sure to replace the stut mounts also.
  5. Check out the EGR valve. My car did this form months and eventually threw a code. Replaced the valve and the engine runs like. new.
  6. I just replaced my EGR valve due to the same symptoms you describe. Drives like a new car. Get it replaced. You will not be sorry. PS-I have a 97 also.
  7. New Strut mounts likely on the noise in the suspension. Known weak area.
  8. It means Amsoil is better and you are making it less by adding T4 (less fluid)..I would take Amsoil ATF over T4 anyday.. Even Toyoat WS is not PAO/Ester based like Amsoil.. Got it. Thanks
  9. Bingo, Toyo 4 was not invented yet (at the time). It is only a few years old. You can use Amsoil ATF with toyo but no need to. You are making a lesser fluid. Not sure what you mean about "making a lesser fluid." Can you elaborate?
  10. Yup. Sep. cavity for the diff. ATF in the dipstick tube for the refill.
  11. See above, it is just behind and to the left of the drain plug for the trans.
  12. I am not sure if using M1 or other synthetic is compatible with Toyota T-IV. The only ATF that stated COMPATIBLE with Toyota T-IV is Mobil 3309. Because of this, I have to go with Toyota OEM T-IV since Mobil 3309 is very tough to find and expensive. I will drain the ATF and differential tomorrow if weather is good. Thanks! According to the owners manual for the 97 ES, Dexron 3 is recommended, not Toyota 4 oil.
  13. Yes, and if you use synthtetic ATF, in theory, gas mileage may improve slightly, esp if you use syn in engine and trans too.
  14. I would like to add a Wood Grain steering wheel to my 97 ES/ Can I assume that any wheel for a 97-2001 will fit? Anyone have one they want to sell? Thanks
  15. Just completed the service. As described, there is a second plug just back and to the left of the trans plug. Drained quickly, and fills through the filler tube. M1 ATF in an all is well. Thanks all. PS-it IS tight in there.
