take it to someon with a flush system a drain and fill is a waste to me especially if you are having troubles.
Using synthetic and having problems after is fine, if their are leaks being held together with a band aid of cruddy oil it will leak shortly as the gaskets will swell and seal again.

Turning the ac off before you turn the car off atleast 5 mintues before if bareable is a good idea to keep mould build up from moisture collecting and growing on the condensor.
Having the a/c runnign at start ,i can;t see a problem with it as the engine is cold and so is the system which won;t start for a few second before cylcing off and on.

I would guess you have a wire shorting in the taillight harness.which is causing multiple problems.

Some dealers are assess and others are like a dream.
It is maybe 20 minutes more to change the water pump when doing the belt as it is right their jsut a few more bolts and a little more fluid to drain ,
Btw change your thermostat while you are at it.

It does need to be sanded but with 600 grit and wetsand it down and buff it back . It mainly depends if it is on the paint or under a clearcoat on the panels.
It would be easier to cover it with a colour match than remove it properly.
