  1. No problem , i don't think you disrespected anyone least of all me.
  2. What features other than bluetooth are you loooking for? Are you staying with nextel? price range colour screen camera flip
  3. Use the Fed Ex ,UPS clear protectors that they use to attach labels to parcels . They also work great as lint removers. Best of all they are free. Just pull off the backing and put your hand inside the pocket and pat down the area to remove anything ,just vacume first to remove light dust.
  4. Searching is not the easiest thing ,but to be honest 90% of new questions used to be repetitive before i added my signature. Since then it has changed and most times it is to clarify terms or questions in a previous post as to how it may pertain to the exact situation. What it comes down to is respect. If I or any member spends more than 20 minutes to make a detailed answer with specific ways of doing things as much as it might sound annoying to be told to search it is more annoying that someone won't even take the time to look for the info that someone spent a long time ti write in a thread. I find most people who don't like to be told to search as the ones who never have made a post or thread with real definitive info . So ,no one has to be perfect but at least try . I respect members who are new and have realised forum etiquette that prevails on every forum to search before you post. By showing that you tried and failed to search and use details of posts which had nothing to do with what you where looking for i am more than happy to help answer the question or at the very least give options of key search words to use. No one is trying to be rude but walking in to a forum and asking how to change you antenna for the 12th time in a week you might as well be walking into someones house and wearing your shoes on theatre white carpets. Everyone sees this from a different point of view but everyone who does make information rich posts that take more than a few minutes to post always get on the bandwagon and would prefer a person to search before posting. The only time i do not care or look the other way is when someone becomes a gold member off the bat before or at the beginning of posting. They are supporting the club ( which i do not make anything from, ever) so in turn i would like to make it a return on there investment. Hope this makes sense to you.
  5. All the headlights have the rubber vents ,but they do not help when the surrounding seal is broken. Some cars can't remove the amount of moisture with the vents. Remeber those little silca packets that come in leather bags and other good like electronics? They are used to absorb moisture quickly , so if you put that in a headlight with moisture it will reduce it very fast and allow it to be vented out easier by the heating of the bulbs.
  6. HVAC diagnostics in the general maintance section
  7. I don't think i have ever seen RX rims on anything but RX's. But the bolt patterns will fit fine.
  8. Ok i posted this a few years ago in the ES section and forgot about it. So here is one for the LS guys ,although every Lexus has the same system just slightly different locations. There is a sensor for ever auto climate control which has a interior temp sensor to tell the hvac control what temp it is so it can reduce/increase fan speed and temp adjustment. On all cars it is covered by a small slotted piece of plastic usually by the drivers right knee on the dash. How it works is the temp sensor is much like a MAF and is a small loop of wire which is heated/cooled to measure temps. As the vents are on and are blowing they suck air through a hose which is connected to the back of the sensor. This causes the air to register a temp which is continuously monitored. By air flowing over the wire it gets dirty and needs to be cleaned every year or so. I was replacing some more interior lights today and remembered to check mine as i was in there. It was covered with a 2mm coating of dust which basically renders the sensor useless. My car is 7 years old as well the hose connecting it had come off so it was not getting a constantly new air temp flow. So to find it on my 98 i had to remove 2 Phillips screws to drop the under dash panel. Then popped off the panel that surrounds the key cylinder , it comes off real easy with only clips(pull towards you). The undo the 4 10mm (one is covered by the key cover , the other is by the emergency brake release )bolts that hold on the knee panel on the dash. Once it is off you will see the hose connected behind it that just slides off and a 10 mm bolt holding the sensor onto the panel. I used a few shots of brake cleaner and a q-tip to remove and residue. The wire is fragile so i would not recommend using the q-tip as it bends easily with it. Once it is dry ,reasemble and notice the difference of the fan not always being at full speed trying to heat and already warm car. It takes 10 minutes to to 5 10mm bolts 2 Phillips screws a can of brake cleaner
  9. You guys have too much time on your hands. BTW i see no reason to close this thread, we are all adults and are conducting yourselves that way. Here is a topic i personally love If you want to see stereotyping go stand by a U.S. border crossing . I love visiting the states but US immigration and customs have to be the most racist ,rude ,prejudice set of enforcement BAR NONE . The nicest time i had with them was when i went to Vegas with my wife. Leaving was hell as i guess they want you to feel welcome coming there to gamble but then did a full body search of my wife and refused to give any reason when we where leaving. Until you are on the other end of the stick and realise that they have freedom to do as they want and you have no recourse as no one in there offices care if you lose flights time or are humiliated. The amount of people who are subjected to the powers they are hold are ridiculous. I hate US customs , and am so glad they do not represent the US as a society ,just pea brained idiots that they are. Its truly unbelievable i have never in about 30 trips to the States ever had one person who was normal. They all act like 16 year old testosterone teenagers on a power trip with there daddy's Winchester. This is also not only since 9/11 it just got worse since then. end rant-------
  10. LS400 1990-94 wheels will not fit a 95 and up LS which has a 4 pot caliper and needs a high offset to fit them. Even with oem wheels i cannot fit tape weights inside the oem wheels. What are you looking for replacement wheels to do? Are you looking for factory toyota rims only? what is your price range?
  11. SHould have a small switch on the rear vents to turn tehm off and on ,they aer pretty much on once the front vents are on. Do you get any heat from the vents under the front seats?
  12. It may be beacuse you guys have higher standards on tire manufacturing. Is winter tires manadtory over there? Also the US is dirt cheap for tires, i can buy a set of tires here and it costs $1600-2000 but from the US it is 1000-1200.
  13. Your internal temp sender may not be working. Have you run the HVAC diagnostics in the general maintance section
  14. The Cadillac shop is probably owned by the same guy/group. That is why they are sending you to them as it will be cheaper for them to fit the bill. An OEM finished bumper is something i would never want to lose , i would only repaint it if there is some kind of major damage. The heat to adhere the paint at the factory can make the bumper almost never need to get painted again just buffed. Any paint after wards will crack under any pressure and look awful compared to just marks on an OEM one. If they are small use touch up as your bumper will always get bumped into no matter what. Take it from someone who has painted toooo many cars at too many shops. OEM cannot be equaled in strength unless you pay 2000 to paint it.
  15. Both parts are to recirculate the engine air and vent it into the engine for combustion. If you removed the pipe you would find small deposits of oil coating its insides.
  16. Ahh the main difference is yours would do it in park also which means there is no load and still has a problem. So yours points more to the fuel filter or bad gas. I do agree changing it may be needed anyway . Funny part is my LS filter is smaller than my ES one which is in the engine bay and is not even stocked at a dealer as it never goes bad unless you get really bad gas.
  17. The side vents are always active unless you turn them off by the switch on them, only the center one is fully opened/closed. Sounds like it is normal to me.
  18. I agree ,i am not following what you are saying. The door will not close to a latched postion keeping it from staying closed/locked the lock won't open/close causing the door to not even close fully The handle won't stay down have you tried lubing the lock mechanism?
  19. Is sound more like the solenoid went bad not the starter. Problem is that if you just replace the starter you also need to find out why you had a low voltage situation. As the solenoid was more than likely carbon tracked causing it to need more power to engage ( i.e. charging the battery) which worked after charging to over come the extra resistance. So unless you fix the problem it will happen again. BTW just cleaning the solenoid would have fixed the problem as well.
  20. so it is a coil on plug indiviual igntion and not a rotor and cap with spark plyg wires? Does your tech have a proper scan tool to see if you are getting a reading from the cam and crank sensors?
  21. Need more info gas level? How did you check the anti theft system? Did you insert the key in the door lock and turn it to open and close the locks? does the engine turn over at normal speed? fuel pump working? fuel pressure? did you try spraying gas in the intake? Is it a distibuter cap/rotor igniton or coil ? Are the coils/distributer firing? Did you check to make sure the timing belt has not snapped? Answer all of these questions and we might have an idea
  22. spectra blue mica is the best feature of any GS only available on 98-99 models.
  23. This sounds like 2 different issues. The reving is more like a cold engine which is automatic , if you put the car into gear and do not wait for it to engage properly and rev the engine it will lock you out until the rpm's lower until it can safely engage the clutches. Try it your self on any newer Lexus. rev the engine while shifting gears and it will not go anywhere until it gets lower. BTW do it somewhere safe and clear of obstacles just in case i am wrong. The low amount of power when cold is normal in regards to the timing curve made to heat the engine and run its rich gas mixture.
