  1. So this is still happening. I bought an OBD scanner, reset the light. In the morning, when it is cold the light never comes on. In the afternoon it comes on after driving on the freeway for about 5 minutes. I have repeated this test multiple times with the same result. Does this seem like the temperature sensor or the modulator? I'd just rather not replace everything if I can avoid it. Thanks...
  2. Thanks for the reply. Took it to another mechanic who cleaned the egr valve and ports. No luck, light back on today. They think the temperature sensor is bad but they don't guarantee that is the problem. I'm not sure whether to continue down this course or not. Any advice?
  3. I have a great ES300 48K miles, runs great. I took it in recently to my mechanic to get the rear valve cover gasket replaced and now the 'check engine' light comes on while driving on the freeway. The code says there is a problem with the EGR valve but he cannot find anything wrong with the EGR valve. He has reset the light four times, checked everything he can think of and it still comes on! He is not a Lexus specific mechanic, but is very meticulous and has done everything he can think of. Has anyone else ever run into this? I am about to take it to the dealer but thought I would give this a shot before I lay down more money for something that was working fine before the valve cover gasket was changed. Any help and advice would be appreciated... Thank you.
