  1. Your current radio is not CD capable. How many owners does this vehicle have prior to your ownership? Somebody could have installed an aftermarket stereo system a long time ago, then the next owner prefer the factory look, and restored it with a wrong type of head unit, the one that's not CD changer capable. If it's an RF changer, there should be a sticker that specify which station is on. Or, there is a dial that you can set to the specific station.
  2. Try here: http://www.cureline.net/lex/audio/howto_wiring_daigrams.htm
  3. Is it an RF cd changer? If so you can listen to it from your radio's FM station.
  4. If your noise is coming from inside the cabin, it could be your passenger side window. I had the same problem with my driver's side window. Try to lower the passenger side window about half way, then close it tightly (keep holding the switch for 2 more seconds after it closes). When it's closed, tap on the switch just for an instant, so the window will lower just by a hair, but is still closed. The sound should stop, at least it did for me. It's worth a try and it won't cost you a penny.
  5. I was skimming through carsurvey.org during lunch break. It appears that Honda Accords, Toyota Camries and Nissan Maximas receive more and more negative reviews on newer models. One of the Accord review mentioned that the Accords are no longer assembled in Japan, but instead in Ohio after year 1998, which accounts for the decline in quality. I'm just curious to know if all the newer Lexuses are still manufactured and assembled in Japan and then shipped to the U.S., or does Japan only supply parts now and the assembly process is done in the U.S.?
  6. Just at a curiosity, where do you place your FM modulator in your LS? Do you place it as close to the head unit as possible, or do you place it in the rear seat (closer to the power antenna)?
  7. ahh! I didn't realize it's you! Yes, that was me asking you questions. I'm interested in your radio. How about $120.00 buy it now? That's a fairly reasonable price for a 11 years old Pioneer deck with no CD changer control. You are right, it will not work for Nakamichi equipped LS400s. It won't be able to connect to a CD changer equipped Pioneer LS400, but the FM/AM/cassette will still work. My 92 LS doesn't have a CD changer and, to make things worse, the cassette stopped working. Right now I'm desperately looking for a headunit that can at least play cassettes.
  8. If your head unit is CD changer capable, it should fit both cassette only and CD changer LS400s from 1990 to 1994. If your radio is cassette only, it's FM/AM/cassette will still work on a 90-94 LS that is equipped with a CD changer, but there won't be a hole for the CD changer cable to plug into. It will not work on Nakamichi equipped LS from what I know. The plugs are different.
  9. It rained almost everyday during my winter vacation here in San Diego. :( ;)
  10. Oh and one more item: My front ashtray won't pop out so I'm unable to use my 12V DC. My rear one broke a long time ago. I'm insterested in your ash tray assembly if you'll part it out. Thanks
  11. I need a horn for my 92 LS. It's one of those two black round thing that look like spirals located behind the grill, with the hood open you should be able to see it. Please let me know if you are selling it. I'd prefer that the horn mount, screws and wires to be included also. Thanks
  12. Hi, It's fuse # 5, 15 Amp rating, located at the driver's side kick panel. If you exit your car and lean your head under the dash on the left of the steering wheel and look up, you'll see a little panel. Remove the cover and you'll see a fuse box. Thats driver's side kick panel. Hope this helps.
  13. Thats definitely cheap. Firestone wants $~650 for the struts, and my local Toyota dealer charges me $1,299.99 to replace them, which I ended up replacing at the Toyota dealer. They really did a good job too.
  14. Thats exactly what I was asking. I found I only have one plug (main antenna plug) to go in the main antenna hole. The sub antenna hole is not used. Just wondering what is it used for.
  15. I know there is both a main antenna hole and a sub antenna hole on the back of the deck. What is the sub antenna hole for?
  16. Also make sure that you turn off the remote keyless entry switch located under the left side of the steering wheel. This could also drain the battery.
  17. No it doesn't. In fact any car shouldn't do this. These are NiCd batteries. After years of use they'll develope a memory effect, which prevents them from being fully charged. Also intermediate, short drivings prevents the alternator from fully charging them up, which can also cause the memory effect. I live in Arizona and the summer heat also shortens the battery life dramatically.
  18. does it tick faster when you go faster? Does it come from under the hood or from inside the cabin?
  19. :) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=33711
  20. I just discoverd a pattern with my tick tock sound. Here is the deal: The sound come and go in the interval of 10 miles, and stay on for 1.5 miles. I discovered this with my trip meter. Lets say the sound comes on when my trip meter says 23 miles. It will continue stay on until the trip meter says 24.5 miles. The sound then stops until I reach 34.5 miles. The sound then come on again and drives me nuts for another 1.5 miles, and so on... Very strange. Kinda funny too!
  21. Lexls, is this odometer in your photo working properly? If so, will you consider sell it to me? Thanks
  22. Nakamichi amps are located under the CD changer. Pioneer amps are located behind the left wall of the trunk. You have to remove the CD changer to switch the amp.
  23. Very interesting. I'm convinced that it's the odometer cable then. Strange thing is that my odometer failed 2 years ago but the ticking sound only started yesterday!
