  1. So you think it's the headunit that's causing the problem? If switching to a Nak Headunit do I need to replace the Pioneer amp also? Give me a quote on the nak headunit. Thanks
  2. Hi, great info! I have a Pioneer unit. My question is, my left driver's door speaker has lower volume than the right door speaker. The balance knob is set to the middle, of course. This is true for all volume settings and is really annoying. Thinking this might be the left speaker problem, I replaced both left and right speakers with two brand new 4" speakers. The problem still exists: left speaker has lower volume than right speaker. Now I need some inputs from you guys. Could it be the headunit or bad (old) wiring or possibly the amplifier? p.s. if it's the head unit then I'm looking for a 90-92 Nakamichi Head Unit, following OmarG's advice
  3. There is a scam in the UK where second hand Celsiors were imported. The Toyota badges are then replaced with Lexus ones.
  4. Well, thought I'd like to update on my car's pulling issue. Took it in for an oil change today and I asked the technician to go for a test drive. It turned out to be the tire itself. The front passenger tire have radial pulling (ending up like a cone shape). The shop switched the two front tires and the car started to pull to the left. Both front tires are replaced and the car tracks dead straight now. The tire issue came at a surprise to me, because both of my front Dunlop tires are only 2 years old, and they have less than 12,000 miles on it. ;)
  5. Hi, I'm just curious...does your LS pull to one side (usually right)? My 92's steering wheel always have seem like a constant torque that wants to turn the steering wheel to the right by it self when driving, thus the car constantly pulls to the right. This is very tiring during long trips because I have to constantly give left torque on the steering wheel to keep the car travelling straight. I've done numerous alighments and it doesn't seem to help, so I'm suspecting that it's my power steering rack.
  6. Hi, I have the same problem with my 92 LS400. The gas paddle will vibrate at very high frequency (Zzzzzzz) during initial acceleration at stop signs and stoplights. It feels like when you drive on those rumble strips at high speed, only the rumble is very dim. Vibration decreases as speed increases, and is gone completely when I hit above 65mph. First I replaced the tranny mount, no change. Next I had a Toyota Dealer replaced my engine mount and the problem is solved. I think it has to do with the drive shaft angle. My old engine mounts are completely broken and the engine virtually sagged about half an inch below normal, which ultimately changed the drive angle by a few degrees. I guess Lexus vehicles are manufactured at such high precision and tolerences that a tiny change in the drive shaft angle will cause noticeble vibration.
  7. The following URL is a web-based professional car stereo repair shop. It's not in LA but I thought it wouldn't hurt to mention it to you: http://www.carstereohelp.com/lexus.htm I had mine repaired by them a few years ago and the radio still works great. You might also consider buying a refurbished radio from eBay.
  8. No matter how hard I tried to think positively, I just can't seem to like the ES350's center console. What's up with that oval shaped top? Anyone else find it awkward?
  9. Been driving mine without the cover for over 5 years now. The cover slightly improves the aerodynamic efficiency underneath the car, which ultimately lessens the wind noise. And yes, my cover mysteriously disappeared after an oil change.
  10. Blake, about that second photo: is it photoshopped or for real? I can't believe my eyes!
  11. Japanese copy European style, Koreans copy Japanese style, China copy off everybody....sigh
  12. There is a built in amp in your headunit that powers the 6 door speakers. The amp in the trunk is for the subwoofer. 90-92 headunit will not fit on 93-94 models despite the fact that they look the same.
  13. Man that's a nice field on the first picture. I wish we had a field like this because I fly model airplanes. Trees and light poles attract model planes like magnets!
  14. My oil pan is leaking and my Toyota dealer wanted $1,150 to replace it :whistles: . No, I'm not exaggerating, this is exactly what the service representitative told me. Is this price reasonable or is it insane? Is the oil pan a seperate piece that is bolted to the bottom of the crankcase or does the whole crankcase have to be removed? Also, the same dealer wanted $785 to replace all of the motor mounts. Is this price also reasonable or are they trying to rip me off again?
  15. I'm on the brink of permanently remove the check engine light bulb from dash board. This annoying light comes on every 400-600 or so miles I drove For the past 4 years of ownership the light came on for the following reason: First is the vacuum leak, next is the EGR modulator, then the Vacuum modulator, after that the EGR valve, followed by the cam positioning sensor, next is the rear o2 sensor, followed by the EGR modulator going bad again.....Other than that the car's been pretty much trouble free. Oh, and I do use premium fuel only. 914lps, hope this makes you feel better
  16. Four possibilities: 1. EGR modulator is bad 2. Vacuum modulator is bad 3. Vacuum line is leaking 4. EGR valve is bad My LS is being serviced at my local toyota dealer as I type for the same reason: EGR modulator needed replacement.
  17. My two console rear vents also does not work, have absolutely no air no matter which setting I set to on the climate control module. Are the two rear vents just a bypass from the main air passage or do they have their own blower system?
  18. Okay, will do that. Hopefully it's not the dreaded upper control arm issue. Thanks for your reply RFldes
  19. All of the services on this vehcle were done at my local Toyota dealer. They were very professional and I trust their technicians. In fact on my last alignment attempt (~ 2 month ago) the tech representitative told me that the alignment equipment "maxed out" on him....whatever that means. I then mentioned that if their equipment is unable to properly align my car, then they should do a full refund, which they did. My only problem on this vehicle right now is the leaky power steering rack, and the original factory shocks. Does the rack have anything to do with the mis-alignment? The car has never been involved in any kind of accident, the chassis is straight and true. ++ some additional information: the ps rack leaks internally, there is a bulge on the rubber boot. I do not lose any ps fluid, if that helps
  20. My 92 LS has been constantly pulling to the right, no matter which lane I'm on or what speed I drive. This is very tireing during long distance travel because I have to always fight the steering wheel to keep it straight. When the car travels straight my steering wheel is slightly rotated to the left. I've done numberous alignment attempts but the problem is still there. Could the problem be caused by my leaking power steering rack or could it be something more serious like upper/lower control arms? My two front struts are new, but my shocks are OEM original. From my knowledge a torn control arm bushing will cause "clunking" noise when going over bumps, which I haven't experienced any. I'm running out of hypothesises, and want you guys's opinion. I just want to spend the money on the right part instead of randomly replacing expensive parts. ++I just want to add that all four tires are new and are of equal pressure.
  21. This symbol indicates "low engine oil". For low coolant it is a radiator looking symbol located just below and slightly to the right of the Tachometer "0".
  22. I'm still intrigued on why didn't Toyota Crown make it to the US market. They are big, roomy, powerful V6 sedans that seems to be better than the Camry. They are only exported to Europe but not North America.
  23. I'm sorry to hear that. If it's true then eBay is the best bet.
  24. do headlights supposed to dim at all when starting the engine? An older thread said that a healthy electrical system shouldn't dim the lights at all when cranking the engine, but no matter which car I drive the headlights always dim a little while starting.
  25. That Lexus in the back ground has the same color schem as yours. What a coincidence! That red luxury sedan is a Bentley or a Rolls Royals? Their new models look the same.
