  1. If you give it gas while parked, does your engine vibrate at the sweet spot (~2300 rpm)? If you notice even the slighest vibration, you should change your engine mounts.
  2. You can request a copy of the manual through the owners section of the Lexus website. You'll need to register your vehicle first.
  3. Just saw an article on Yahoo regarding most conjected roads in the US....according to the article NJ has the absolute worst traffic system in the nation, and second most conjested traffic (after Los Angeles). Montana enjoyed fewest conjected roads in the nation, but has the highest fatality as well!!!
  4. 75mph....I obey all traffic rules and want to keep my fellow citizens safe :whistles: Autobahn + German precision engineering = German population control
  5. Found that link: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...p;hl=trunk+wire thought it'd be a bit convenient for you
  6. I'm just not used to the ubiquitous narrow 2-lane winding roads here. Also map here looks like a spiderweb, to make things more confusing one road usually have 3-4 different names. Lastly it rains too much!!! I fly radio controlled planes and the weather here is aweful... In arizona we have 340 days of sunshine year round :) Also I'd like to add, there are so many pay toll roads here, but the roads themselves are not that good...very bumpy, no reflectors at night, etc. Where have all the tax payer's money gone?
  7. As far as I know, there are several wires located in the trunk located near the hinge that will short out due to opening and closing the trunk all these years. They cause all kinds of weird electric problems; the ones you described are classic. Do a search on "trunk wire" and you should get many threads. You may also bring it to a shop and tell the technicians to check wires in the trunk.
  8. Hi and welcome to the club. Add dye to your system and test for leaks......you need to be more specific on your problem, as it could be a bunch of things.
  9. Just relocated here from Tucson, Arizona (University of Arizona).....doing graduate study in Mechanical Engineering at Lehigh University P.S. Lehigh University is great, but the Southwest is a million times better than the Northeast!
  10. Does the rental M35 come with it's own in-dash navigation? Was just curious of how the Magellan faired up against Infinity systems. I have a Garmin C330 unit. What concerns me the most with these suction cup mounted GPS unit is that the sun on a hot summer day can make the temperature of these little units extremely hot, maybe around 150F-180F. I'm wondering what is the maximum operating temperature for touch-screens in general?
  11. do you feel the shaking is coming from your seat, the frame, or the steering wheel? When you mention "shaking forward to backward motion" do you mean the car first shakes at the front, then gradually moves toward the back? What is the condition of your engine and tranny mounts?
  12. Change engine mount and tranny mount; you need to restore the driveshaft back to proper angle.
  13. The reason your tape switches immediately back to radio is because your two drive belts are worn out. These belts only last 10-12 years. I encountered similiar problem 2 years ago... 90-92 Nakamichi headunits will fit 90-94 LS400 with Pioneer headunit. But, 93-94 Nakamichi headunit will NOT fit any LS400s. Getting a Nakamichi is the way to go. Nakamichi is known for manufacturing top quality cassette decks and should last for 2 decades or more. Either member dcfish or pioneersbuy should help you out.
  14. Your temp gauge is perfectly normal. If you count the marks starting from the lowest mark (meaning count mark "C" as one), the needle should sit slightly above the 3rd mark on a hot summer day with A/C on sitting idle in traffic.
  15. Yes that's the meter I'm talking about. My odometer failed at 110,000 miles exactly and it is also making a faint ticking sound from the dash at that time. I think it's coming from the spinning cable feeding the worm gear for the odometer. After about 100 miles of driving the noise went away. My guess is that one of the gear teeth is stripped and the gear struggled to turn. Eventually a catastrophic failure caused it to disengage from the driving cable permanently and the sound went away. About 2 years ago I also started a similiar thread regarding this ticking noise. It has much detailed information including some pictures, but I can't find that thread. Can someone dig up that URL?
  16. They are for the fuel level sender units. One for the little orange light, the other for the gauge reading. Does anybody know how is the subwoofer connected to the amp? Where do the woofer wires go? My subwoofer is not working because it is not powered. There are simply two loose wires hanging down from the woofer terminals without any connectors at the other end.
  17. That's one way of doing it, but before doing that let's think about it: you mentioned that none of your 4 speakers are working, and the chances of all 4 speakers burn out at the same time is pretty slim. If all the speakers are dead silent (no fuzzy noises) then it means that the channels are dead, which indicates your headunit is shot.
  18. Can you upload a photo of how your subwoofer is connected to your factory amplifier in the trunk? (if you have it, that is...) I'm trying to restore my stereo back to OEM but can't figure out where should the +/- wires from the subwoofer go into the amplifier. Thanks
  19. From what I've heard the headunit has a built in amplifier that powers the four component speakers on your doors. The two tweeters simply run parallel with your front door speaker using the same channel. Amplifier in the trunk is for the subwoofer exclusively. If you want a replacement headunit contact member dcfish or pioneersbuy.
  20. From the photo, those black wires that goes to the green and grey connector, are they for the subwoofer or the fuel pump?
  21. clicking noise from the starter usually indicates that there is not enough voltage in the battery to crank the engine. How old is your battery? Lexus vehicles seem to eat though batteries faster than other cars. I had to replace my battery once every 3 years.
  22. I do all my services at a local Toyota Dealer....much cheaper than Lexus Dealers, but still very professional. Chances are there are Lexus Tech working at Toyota Dealers.
  23. Your first PS pump failed so early, at 42K...wow
  24. I just figured out why my woofer is not working -- it wasn't powered! It looks like the previous owner installed after market radio into the vehicle but then tried to restore it back to OEM. My question is, where should the woofer wires be connected to the amp in the trunk? I only have one plug for the amp but I don't see any terminals +/- for the woofer wires to hook up to.. Please see the attached photos. I don't think the woofer wires are OEM either.
