  1. You are decidedly in the minority, I get about 17 around town too.
  2. I'm not sure, its probably synthetic though.
  3. Unless you are going to trade your RX for one with nav forget about the Lexus navigation. Look into some good aftermarket models.
  4. It may, what would help a lot is changing the spark plugs and wires. In all honesty though it depends on how you drive. If conserving gas is your main concern then use the accelerator sparingly. No jackrabbit starts , keep acceleration under 2000 RPMs, be smooth and subtle.
  5. I tend to stay away from any product that claims to have teflon in it. For one thing in order to provide a no-stick barrier teflon needs to be applied at over 600 degrees so a spray cleaning product that sports "Teflon" is little more than a marketing gimmick. That said some people at Autopia have tried them and said teflon aside they aren't bad.
  6. TOG- That was posted by me a long time ago, I have since agreed with those of you that feel dawn is improper to use even as a part of pre-detail prep. Not in my detailing forum they won't. We discuss detailing and detailing products here, anyone who tries to lord a product over someone else or tries to start a *BLEEP*ing match is dealt with promptly. I agree with this somewhat. No the car doesn't need to be completely detailed immediately, but it does need a coat of wax or sealant now in order to protect the paint from pollen, water spots, bug guts, tree sap, bird bombs and just plain wear and tear. These things can seriously damage the paint if left on too long, and the wax barrier provides an extra measure of protection. I take care of an 04 BMW 530i (I wash it every week and will be waxing it every 3 months for the lady) with 1500 miles on it, its about 2 months old and garage kept. There are ALREADY several etched water spots, bug marks, and bird bomb spots that will have to be machine compounded out because she didn't wax the car other than the dealer's prep. Cars really need to be waxed every three months, or in areas with a lot of pollution even every month. So you can wait on the detailing, but do go ahead and have it waxed.
  7. Run a search this has been discussed at legnth. It is not possible to disable this "feature". Welcome to the club!
  8. All cars are made from galvanized steel ;)
  9. Its not called the ES330 in european markets, I believe its still the ES300 over there. US Es sales are still strong but it has never been popular in Europe, in fact the ES is no longer sold in the UK. Thats a plausible update pic, save your final judgements until you see a clearer and bigger pic. I like the new grille but the front bumper doesn't seem to flow as well as the bumper on the current car. New wheels look pretty good in the pic, they look like they're 17s too...
  10. That appears to be surface rust on what is a damaged panel with exposed steel, that will happen to any car. Thats not body perforation...
  11. No they're pretty soft. I use paint brushes with the metal part taped off.
  12. Do some reading on here and on www.lexuscarcare.com, all your answers are here just gotta do some legowrk ;)
  13. Either one, each are a little different. EX is deeper while EX-P is clearer looking.
  14. None, the numbers are identical, the main difference is fuel economy.
  15. Yes, Lexus no longer uses the needles that fail so quickly.
  16. Best car on the road, no question. I hope Lexus keeps up on the quality.
  17. That depends... Since you have the IS does it have full leather or the leather/escaine package? The escaine is the suede like material. If you have that then Lexus sells a cleaner that works really well. If its full leather (and on the leather parts if its not) then Woolite dilluted 5:1 will work great.
  18. No, it is very possible to get a good deal on the LS430. I believe my dat paid $1500-$2000 over invoice for his. Invoice is what the dealer paid (well, kind of) MSRP is the "retail" price. LS430's are marked up $5-7,000 depending on the package. Lexys holdback is 3% of the base MSRP, so figure that in as profit for the dealer also. I think $1500 over is a great deal, I think when ordering two I would request $1000 over invoice for each. Its a happy salesman that sells two LS430's in one transaction! My dad's is flint mica with black interior, Ultra Luxury package and it is a fabulous automobile.
  19. First of all what system did you order, the OEM system, an aftermarket system? Installations of that nature are very very complicated, you may be better off letting a professional do it.
  20. That prices them about the same as aftermarket blades then, not too bad.
  21. Really? I never tried to buy them from Toyota I just figured they would be the same. You learn something new every day! My Lexus dealer includes wiper inserts as part of normal service every 15k but I paid $97 one time to have them changed on my dad's LS for him, hence where my insane price came from. What did Lexus charge you for the blades?
  22. Paintless Dent Removal is for metal panels only, won't work on a bumper.
  23. Glad it was worked out for you. Its still nice to see the dealership come through and get up to the plate without having to have Lexus FORCE them. One reason I still mainly use the Lexus dealer for service. You build a relationship with the service writer and they can help you down the road get more serious problems fixed. Having a good personal relationship with the service people has helped me tremendously on other vehicles, I consider the service rep at Ford a personal friend because of our relationship over 7 years of Explorer ownership. I've had Ford cover several things that I don't think they would have covered otherwise (or it would have taken serious legwork on my part) had it not been for him.
  24. Or more, many Prius owners get more than the EPA 60MPH figure for city, it just takes some learning to drive the car to achieve the best fuel economy possible.
  25. Other than different gas there is nothing that can be done, the cars are sensitive to the sulfer content of the gas. Switching gas brands worked like a charm for me. Exxon has one of the highest sulfer contents out there. I switched to BP because I saw an advertisement for their "low sulfer gas" so I tried it and it worked great. Sunoco advertises the same and no sulfer smell, Shell has a little but not nearly as bad as Exxon/Mobil. Its a nasty smell but in my experience switching the gas brand helps a lot.
