  1. Yeah, its always cheaper to fix what you have then buy something new. But, when you want something new/newer anyways...and you're concerned about day to day reliability when its your wife and kids riding around in it...nothing lasts forever.
  2. The voice recognition sucks. Its better in the Jeep, which can voice dial any contact on my iPhone without having to record a voice tag...but its still not perfect.
  3. LOL...I echo what others have said. If its not in the maintenance schedule...it doesn't need to be done.
  4. If its used, it may or may not work depending on which model it was originally designed for...
  5. Same to you Rob!
  6. Thats right...thou shall not worship a false God! Bwahahahahahaha!
  7. Well...before you condemn performance of the 2013 GS...remember that the 2013 you're talking about is the V6 and the 1998 you're talking about is the V8. Compare the 2013 GS350 to the 1998 GS300 and look at the difference.
  8. I hope everyone will join me and the rest of the site's administrative team in welcoming Paul A as the latest addition to the Moderating Team! He's been a great contributor to the board and will continue to be I'm sure...
  9. I had an add on receiver in my old '03 ES300. I originally had it wired in with an FM switchbox, but then eventually I upgraded that to a VAIS combo unit that had an iPod connector and an AUX-in for the XM. Their products are excellent, very OEM quality. Interface works well, and will be even better with your system because its already SAT ready. Unless you're comfortable removing expensive interior components, I'd let a pro do it. A stereo shop installed mine for like $100. Well worth it IMHO.
  10. What do you use to clean the glass? Do you run the car through a carwash? You say you have the defogger on, do you leave that on all the time in the rain? I would stop doing that. Have you tried polishing the glass with a machine polisher and a glass polish? First thing you have to come to terms with, is its just a windshield and a car. Nothing magic about the glass in the Lexus, its made by a glass manufacturer that makes glass for MANY carmakers. This is not a fault in the vehicle, or the glass, its something that is on the glass and what we need to do is figure out some way to get it off the glass. So, I would just stop taking it to the dealer...stop thinking about lawsuits and lemon laws...there's nothing they can do to help you really...and what they've already done likely wasn't neccisary. My guess is that whatever carwash you use deposits something on the glass and thats whats causing your smearing. In any event, we need to get your glass polished and cleaned. If you want to try something you can do yourself, I would go to the grocery store and buy some "Bon-Ami" cleaner. Its a powdered cleanser. Make a paste with it, and polish it into the windshield really well with a terry type towel (don't let it run onto the paint). Do that a couple times, then clean the windshield and wipers with a automotive glass cleaner (not Windex), I would use something like Stoner's Invisible Glass), and see if that solves your problem. 99% sure it will. Then over time if it comes back you need to find out how its getting on there. If it doesn't, you'll have to likely take it to a detailer or an independent glass shop and let them machine polish the glass. I have never had a new car, or a new windshield on a car, that didn't need to be cleaned and polished with something aggressive in order to not smear when using the wipers. That includes all brands of vehicles. The worst was our new Jeep. It was almost undrivable in the rain until I went over the windows really well with the glass polish. Now its great. If the vehicle sits outside and isn't parked under cover, it'll have to be redone periodically over time.
  11. We love it, really well built, drives great...looking forward to some snow.
  12. Thats a great video, thanks for posting!
  13. Hahaha, I can just see you in line to see Santa at the mall...like that scene from A Christmas Story! Yeah the Traverse is a nice vehicle, very spacious. I think you'll like the MDX too, but the Traverse is going to be bigger.
  14. I didn't think it was that small...not as big as some of the others but its big on style for his "black tie" needs... Yeah I have a buddy who just got a new Pilot and a neighbor that has the previous generation.
  15. Yeah I just got done looking at all these vehicles. I really wanted to like the Highlander, but found the interior too cheap...really bad materials in that vehicle. Have you driven the new 4Runner? A little too "Hummer-esque" for me. The Pilot is one worth looking at, don't care for the styling of the new one. The Traverse is the same vehicle as the Enclave, if she likes the Enclave I'd cross that off the list. Honestly...I wouldn't be worried about reliability with the Enclave overly much. The MDX is an interesting choice actually, have you guys driven one?
  16. Yeah seems like ol Herman Cain thought being head of the Restaurant association was pretty cool LOL
  17. It really does have a huge impact on your mileage. We have a remote start on the Jeep and it sits outside. My wife used it a few times when it got cold (its been fricking 70 degrees lately) and the mileage hit just from it idling for 5 minutes before she got in is HUGE. So much so that I doubt we'll continue to use the remote start.
  18. When your iPod is hooked up to the car, you cannot control it through the iPod. You have to control it through the audio system. Have you gone to the appropriate mode in the audio system? (USB)? It should just automatically play, then you can select playlists, artists, etc within the system's menus. Welcome to the LOC!
  19. I like things that glow in the dark...
  20. Its certainly routine, assuming that you have a new OEM smartkey, and the appropriate smartkey for your model. The second dealer likely doesn't want to be left holding the bag if you have an incompatible part. I'd take it to the first dealer, $65 sounds reasonable.
  21. I think that sounds like a GREAT plan!
  22. LOL! Boy...do we have enough different answers to this question?
  23. Yeah there's got to be a reason for the fuse blowing...
  24. 25% seems like a lot to me... Thanks for that link Death...
  25. Yeah its in the manual, glad you found it...
