  1. Yeah they put those stickers on anything with 18" wheels or bigger I think... Yours has the MXV4 S8 Rob, slightly different tire than the Primacy but a better tire than the Bridgestone. You'll get 30k or so on them I'd imagine... Yeah its pretty much gone. Only issue now is cleaning that fabric has brought it loose from the plastic honeycomb underneath and I'm not sure how to go about re-attaching it. You'd never know until you touched it there was any slack, but it bugs me...being me... Some spray adhesive would do it, but the issue is I have to get behind the cover to do it which means removing the door panel...
  2. Oh yeah...we can't let it go dry in our house!
  3. Yeah my Dad was in the publication paper business, in the end he ran that division of the company, so he sold paper to printers and also directly to end users, National Geographic, Kiplinger's magazine, lots of others were at one time on his paper, tons of catalogs, corporate annual reports, etc. His company tried to reinvent themselves, they always had a small business products division that sold office and printer paper, envelopes, computers, office furniture etc, like Quill or Staples. They sold the Fine paper and publication divisions about 6 months before they finally folded up but the business products division wasn't enough to bring them out of bankruptcy, and they got bought up by a larger company. Luckily for himself, he retired in '07 and was able to negotiate a good package to do that and got to enjoy a couple years of retirement...he saw it coming.

    2012 Tesla

Its like driving a car made by Apple. Awesome... I did notice a few parts bin pieces, the gearshift is from a BMW 7 series...and the window controls are from a Mercedes and are also shared...oddly enough with my Jeep. But I can excuse those lol
  5. Don't know what we would have done without it! Just look at the drifting snow...
  6. But Mobil doesn't warranty the powertrain of the car...
  7. I am not a Veteran, but my father was in the Army, my Uncle fought in Vietnam and is a recipient of the Bronze Star. My wife's stepfather fought in Vietnam. I have many friends and clients who are in the Military or have family in the military so its very close to my heart... As a matter of fact maybe I'll go down to WV and see my Uncle for Veterans day...

Um...he does not have the right to refuse to serve people who are of a different race or religion than him. Nobody who is racist is a "good man". No different than refusing to serve any minority, shameful.
  9. I agree regulation has to make good sense, but we can't do things in an inefficient antiquated way just because doing it that way may employ more people than doing it in a cleaner, more efficient way. Its not just about the environment, its about our own health. Its a scary time, you think about these auto-checkouts at grocery stores, EZ-Pass instead of toll collectors, no more people manning parking lots and garages...thats automated, e-communication instead of mail, iPads have all your magazines now...that single handedly destroyed the commercial printing and paper industry. My Dad's company did $400M in business in 2007 when he retired, employee owned...400 employees...one of the biggest independent paper merchants in the country...great American family company...this year they were bought out of bankruptcy for $2M with a payroll of 40 people (thank God he retired when he did). You want to talk about killing jobs? Technology and progress is killing jobs. Should we turn our backs on technology and progress because it kills jobs too? Somehow we have to find a way to create a population that is qualified for the jobs of the 21st century, and create a business climate that brings those jobs here...instead of China or India. The old jobs are gone.
  10. Well, I worked on it for a while with some Folex, and I think I got it 95% out. See the picture (bottom edge of the cover is still a little wet): We'll see what it looks like tomorrow in the daylight, but I've hit it with high output flashlights at a bunch of different angles and its 95% gone. Stuff like that just really *BLEEP*es me off. What is so hard about driving a car 20 feet without !Removed! it up? I guess thats what I get for taking it to a "tire shop" instead of ordering them and having them put on at a higher end repair place like I normally do. By the way, that Folex is incredible. I was at a walkthrough on a new construction house (nc211's new house actually) and thats what they were using to get stains he had noted out of the carpet, and it worked great...I saw it at Lowes the other day and bought some...figured I'd try it...
  11. Well...so much for the cheaper installation. I just noticed a big stain on the driver's side front door speaker grill, looks like someone must have gotten a grease stain on it and tried to clean it off. I tried cleaning it with a couple of my cleaners, and its not budging. Just noticed it tonight. I'm going to have to go over there and talk to them about it, I'm sure they won't do anything since its been a day or so. Obviously as anal as I am about the car this was the only opportunity it had to get on there. I just looked it up, apparently that fabric grill is not a separate part, the whole door panel has to be replaced and the part wholesale is $600... So looks like my cheaper install cost me another thousand bucks...
  12. This describes it about as well as possible: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radial_Force_Variation
  13. Oh God, my Dad had a 98 LS400 and an 04 LS430, you are totally right...the slightest little but out of balance and you could definitely feel it. He had a set of Dunlops on the 400 one time he had to have rebalanced once a month. The ES is picky too, but not as bad.
  14. Well, my OEM Bridgestones had 23k on them, they were getting squirrely in the rain, winter is coming (or already came this weekend), Michelin rolled out their $70 rebate sale today...so I just got back from having a brand new set of Michelin Primacy MXV4 H Rated tires put on the Lexus. All in all, not bad, I bought them in a store instead of buying online like I normally do because the deal was about the same, wound up at $720 installed before the rebate, plus tax. TireRack had them for $151 each, so thats $604 plus $49 to ship, so thats $653, plus $120 to mount and balance, I'd have been at $773, so even with having to pay tax on the tires I came out ahead a little, and I got them today. I'll post my thoughts. As you all know I love these tires, so I expect to like them very much. One thing I will say for the terrible reviews of the Turanza EL400's, and the grousing people do about them. I'm happy I didn't tear them off brand new and replace them with the Primacys like I thought about doing. They are a smooth riding, quiet tire. Terrible treadwear, they weren't to the wear bars but had become scary enough in the rain I didn't want my wife driving the Lexus. But...I got 23k miles out of them, and I could have gotten another 10k probably if I was willing to put up with questionable rain traction. Would I pay money for them as a replacement tire? No...especially because they cost MORE than the Primacy...but they're okay.
  15. My personal opinion on global warming is one of common sense. Nature didn't intend all of these gases and pollutants to be pumped into the atmosphere. It simply makes sense that over time the addition of these compounds and chemicals in the atmosphere will have an effect on the planet's climate, since they weren't supposed to be there in the first place. Reducing the amounts of these chemicals and compounds that are released into the atmosphere can only be a good thing...
  16. The problem with a use tax is that it too disproportionately taxes the poor a bigger percentage of their income because such a larger percentage of their annual income is spent on goods and services...but what we do agree on is that something needs to be done to revamp our tax code. I just did our taxes (I always file an extension just because I hate them so much) and I said to my wife "This is insane, someone should not need to hire a professional to file a simple family tax return. Mine are more complicated than most because of Schedule C for business and investments, etc, but still...I'm not a corporation or anything like that...I should be able to sit down with my records and in an hour have a completed tax return. Crazy. As for welfare, I also see nothing wrong with drug testing recipients of welfare. Plenty of employers routinely drug test their workers, and ts not considered an infringement on their rights because they can always quit their job. With welfare recipients its the same thing...they can always stop receiving welfare. If they want to receive it I think that there should be community service and drug testing requirements.

No. Your posts become the intellectual property of the site once you post them, and I'm not going to go to the effort of deleting your account, and deleting your posts just because you want to take your ball and go home. If you don't want to post here anymore, then don't...but spare us the drama. This is an AUTOMOTIVE site. Not a political site. If you can't handle the off topic political discussions, then don't participate in them. Some forums have their off topic political discussions in a private forum you have to request to participate in, I would like to think our members are mature enough to be able to participate or not on their own without having to have us decide for them. The statement that this is a "Democrat/Obama" site is absurd, its a LEXUS ENTHUSIAST site...owned by a gentleman in England actually. The site has no affiliation to any political party. Political discussions are for grown ups who can handle them. Do you see me going around blasting Lenore in other threads because we disagree politically or him doing the same to me? Of course not. nc211 and I disagree on the subject and have had heated debates, but we now know each other personally as friends and I just helped him and his family buy their new home in DC. Everyone has opinions and everyone has a viewpoint, and if you can't handle dealing with opposing viewpoints...then you should go. Leave or stay...up to you. Don't say things that others take as being racist...and people won't call you a racist. Address others with respect...and they will address you with respect. You called me an idiot with a double digit IQ and questioned my gender...and I'm still smiling. You need to toughen up a little.
  23. Of course, the year you move down here we get the first October snow in 20 years!
