There's more to resetting them and making sure that the system is in functioning order than just replacing the bags. You need to take the car to a competent autobody shop and have them look at it and reset the airbags. There's probably other damage, even if you can't see it, if the airbags deployed. Its gonna be expensive, I'd call your insurance company.

You can save the destination as a marked point, and you can reverse the directions to the spot where you entered the destination.

What year is your GS? Its probably too old, I think they started using the coating in 2001. But no, I wouldn't use Soft Scrub on a new Lexus. Although I think with the coating you'd never have hard water stains to remove.

Can't blame em. The copycat styling route worked really well for Lexus. The keypad is just an additional entry option. The car still has keyless entry just like any other car, and I'm sure it has a smart entry system just like Lexus. I REALLY miss the keypad on my Explorer. They're great because if you're just running down to the car to get something you don't have to remember your keys. If you're at the beach, at a pool, playing golf, whatever you can leave the keys in the car and still lock and unlock the car. I LOVE the keypad, and still walk up to the Lexus and have to realize its not there.

Sounds to me like he's an old time Dale Carnegie style salesman, the kind that is irrelevant in the current sales climate. I'd talk with a different salesman. In my experience Lexus dealers prices are way high on their CPO cars, no idea how willing they generally are to deal since I've never bought a CPO car...or a used car in general. Its probably worth it for you to drive up to DC, we have 5 dealers within 50 miles from each other, and dealers with big Pre-owned departments. Pokanka in Chantilly, VA, Lexus of Annapolis, and Lexus of Rockville have big pre-owned centers with lots of inventory. Rockville even has a pre-owned showroom. I think Pohanka and Annapolis do too. You've also got Lexus of Alexandria and Lexus of Silver Spring, but their pre-owned departments aren't as large. Go to Baltimore and you've got two more dealers, Lexus of Towson and Len Stoler Lexus in Owings Mills.

The dealers here have always operated on the 5k schedule, they ignore that the 7500 mile schedule even existed despite it being in the owners manual.

The MXV4s you got on your ES are not the Primacy MXV4, they're the MXV4 S8, the Primacy is supposed to have better traction.

I think there's an interest rate deal on the ES & RX going on right now...

Hey RF, is this your first new LS? I remember your 02 was pre-owned. The LS has never shipped with OEM Michelins as far as I can remember (this is one thing I look for, I'm weird), the ES has shipped with MXV4s, but never the LS. Lexus and Bridgestone have a very long history and Bridgestones have always been in the OEM rotation for the LS along side Dunlop SP Sport 4000s and 5000s. I've never seen a new LS sitting on a dealer lot with a set of Michelins and niether my dad's 98 or his 04 came with them. His 98 had Dunlop SP Sport 4000s and his 04 had Dunlop SP Sport 5000s. My ES shipped with Bridgestone Potenza RE92s but it was about 50/50 that year on the ES with Michelin MXV4s. Nothing wrong with Bridgestone as a brand, they make some of the most well respected tires in the world. I have a set of Bridgestone Turanza LS-Vs on mine now and they're excellent, replaced a set of MXV4 Michelins and I'd say they're as good. All tiremakers have crappy models, including Michelin.

Anybody watch Mythbusters on the Discovery Channel? They tested all these things, the license plate cover, the spray, and some other zanier ones. None worked ;) As for legality they are indeed illegal in MD, anything that obstructs the view from any angle.

Really the only option is to replace the windshield...

Really? Thats news to me. I've always used the 5k interval since its easier to calculate, and thats what the dealers go by (for obvious reasons). My 2003 has an option of 5000-7500, as does my dad's 04 LS430.

It sounds to me like you're abusing the car. I'd expect to always have accelerated wear. Its a luxury sedan, not a race car. Changing the tires won't have any effect on the warranty.

I think BadBoi's point is the same as mine. To say people don't have the right to be concerned about rising gas prices because they own "luxury vehicles" is an ignorant statement. These are not Maybachs...and this isn't the LS460 or SC430 forums... The Prius is not that light, in fact its not that much lighter than your IS: Prius: 2932lbs IS: 3455lbs So its 500lbs lighter, and excuse me, the IS is a SUBCOMPACT car, two size classes below the Prius. Its all in your head. I've seen first hand accidents with the Prius and much larger heavier cars, people walked away just fine. And no, you couldn't kick a hole in the side of a Prius. The IS "feels" heftier, but thats in the engineering, that 500lbs is in doors and sound deadening, not things that will keep you safer. By that logic you'd be safer in an old Expedition than a modern sedan, and the evidence out there is that isn't so.

Toyota changed the oil changed intervial a few years back from 7.5k to 5k because of some of their engines were failing due to oil gel otherwise known as sludge build up. But their are many cars on the road that go 7.5k to 10k on a regular basis with no problems on regular oil. I think Toyota needs to find the source of the oil gel problem and fix it and return the intervial to at least 7.5k so they will be on par most other modern autos , also I think the oil gel problem was on a small number of cars and had something to do with operating conditions and less to do with oil change intervials but still I think there is something Toyota need to do also. Lexus intervals have been 7500 normal, 5000 severe since at least 1998, on all models.
