Its the starter...100%. Very common issue with the LS. I know a guy with a 98 that has like 240k on it and his does that maybe 2 out of 10 starts and he just sits there and plays with it until it finally starts. The cheapest estimate he got to replace the starter was $2200 which sounds wild n'crazy to me. RCR, your dealer did it for less than $800? Really?!?

Cars get better mileage on the highway than they do in the city, at least normal internal combustion cars (Hybrids get better mileage in the city). Whats happened is your daily driving has become more highway than city thus your mileage is increasing. Has nothing to do with the ECU ;)

Guess what it was? The battery! It fired up just fine with the jump box this morning and I drove it over to the dealer. They surmised that it had to be a bad battery they installed 2 years ago and they replaced it free of charge.

I get 19MPG around town...on a good day so I'd be pleased with 22. I had an 07 350 as a loaner and drove it on a 50 mile highway trip. I got 31.5MPG...I was astonished!

I hope its only the battery. I went back through my maintenance records and the battery was replaced on 11 May 2006, so almost exactly 2 years. Its an 84 month battery...I SHOULD be getting some prorated replacement cost. Genuine Lexus battery. I have a portable jump box, I'll try it in the morning. I plugged it in to charge up.

Plus Lexus glass is already water repellant in the windshield and front windows.

Unfortunately I think its your only choice. on 98+ cars the C-BEST settings can disable the auto function while still allowing you to use the adjustment controls, but on a 95-97 I think you have to unplug it...

They dont have the auto button past 95.

Yep, cables and terminal ends look fine, unfortunately I don't have a voltimiter to check the voltage.

If your car does not have nav it does not have the UL package unfortunately. $34,600 would be way more than $3200 under the MSRP of a UL model, they MSRP for almost $45k. Sounds like a pretty good deal though.

Its gotten worse...now the car won't start at all. Its definately a battery problem because everything's depowered, only one of the HID lights was firing now none, clock is dim, keyless entry is sluggish. Whether its the battery or an alternator problem I don't know. The car was in the shop 3 weeks ago and the battery passed a load test just fine...

I've had Sony laptops and desktops before, unimpressed. I have a Dell laptop now which has held up very well over the past 3-4 years I've had it, even if it is a little clunky. The newer ones are better looking. Carla has an HP laptop and its REALLY nice. Very well built, beautiful screen. No issues with it at all. I'd buy an HP or a Dell personally over a Sony. I've also flirted with the idea of a Mac. I had Macs years ago and switched over to PC in like 1998.

I have some clients that were in China on vacation when the earthquake hit, they said had they been in that location a day later they'd have been in it. Scary...

Hey everybody. Up until about a week and a half ago my ES has always started crisply and quickly. Slowly over the last week and a half it has begun to start lazily, the starter cranks and it sounds weak and then it starts up. It just hasn't been sounding right. All the way until this morning when it barely started at all. When you shut the car off and restart it starts the same way, doesn't improve or get worse. It was so weak this morning I was afraid to drive it in case it left me stranded somewhere. Any ideas? Doesn't seem like the starter to me, battery is about a year old, alternator maybe? Last night we drove back from a wedding in West Virginia so it ran on the highway for an hour, so the battery should be fully charged. It runs great once its on. Premium fuel...no weird fuel or anything like that.

The wood in the 98-00 is lighter than the wood in the 95-97...it wont match.

I've used the Wolfgang products, they were okay. Nothing spectacular.

The first 5k service is free on all Lexus vehicles. Lexus pays the dealer for this service...they get paid just as if you had paid them. The factory interval is 7500 normal, 5k severe. I've always maintained mine at 5k. Never had any problems with my dealer, I always get measurements for the brakes BTW.

Interesting...thats weird about Lexus-Parts, I'll look into that.

Have you used everything else? Zaino's Leather in a Bottle is very good...but there are several other equally good conditioners.
