  1. They don't...but there are other manufacturers in the world. Infiniti (all Nissan vehicles) Cadillac (all GM vehicles) Lincoln (all Ford vehicles) Saab Jeep (all Chrysler products actually) Volvo Mazda Range Rover In fact...I'd venture to say the only companies really that DON'T lock out nav functions when moving are German...and Acura. The vast majority of cars on the road have nav systems that are locked out from manual input when moving. As a matter of fact, some aftermarket hard installed navigation systems are designed to lock-out when the vehicle is moving too. Its just a matter of time, the US road !Removed! will make it a requirement soon. I don't like it any more than you do, but its not the end of the world and its a reality in the marketplace and not just on Lexus vehicles. Railing against it will get you nowhere because its something thats beyond you or even customer satisfaction as a whole. At least Lexus sells their models without navigation if it bothers you so much...a lot of companies don't anymore. Not at all, but people who make snide remarks about something that they can't do anything about in threads that are not on the topic of their complaint really because they're kicking themselves for not adequately researching and testing the features of a vehicle before commiting $70,000 to its purchase are whiners, yes. There's a thread for this topic, discuss it in there. Don't turn every thread in here that mentions the word "navigation" into a whine fest over the lockout...the lockout thats been there for a decade.
  2. I'd be very surprised if it was from alcohol based window cleaner...
  3. I would ALWAYS get an alignment done when I have tires replaced. For one, I've never had a car come back from an alignment that did not need to be aligned. Why spend $700 on new tires and "see where the wear happens" before doing an alignment? Drop the $120 bucks more and get the alignment done IMHO. The secret is to have the alignment done by the right people...which is not always where the tires are being installed. Morons can really screw up an alignment. Looking at those photos...those tires are done buddy. Unsafe for the road in my book, make the appointment right away. Thats not an alignment issue...they're just worn out. Tires actually are unsafe well before the wear bars pop out. When the wear bars pop out they're illegal on the road...not "almost" done.
  4. I think you'll probably be happy with either one. I'm going to put a set of the Primacy's on next week but I considered the Exaltos. If the best ride and least noise are your primary goals, the Primacy is the tire over the Exalto. I had the old MXV4 Plus on the car a few years ago and I have those tires on the Prius now and rain and snow traction is fine, not great, but fine. The Primacy's are supposed to be better... The Primacy is a little more expensive than the Exaltos, but the treadwear is better.
  5. I know! HAHAHAHA. What a loss it will be for the PA State Troopers too! No Triple Treds for me ;) I'm going to shod it with H rated Primacy MXV4s next week, gonna order them from TireRack, $125 a peice which is a lot better than the $170 a peice they want for the V rated ones...
  6. I would take it to a pro and let them touch it up and remove the ding with PDR ;)
  7. You can;t do it yourself. PDR is a craft, they use very specific and expensive tools and go through apprenticeship programs and everything. Find a pro. The detail shop you work for doesn't have a PDR tech on call? <_<
  8. Told ya it was real ;) The clearcoat is much deeper on the LS wheel, you can tell the grain has a lot more depth when you look at it...
  9. Believe it or not...thats what the wheel costs if you bought one from a Lexus parts counter...$3,000 or so :o
  10. Thats a big improvement from my older Vais system and its interface to the older menu system...
  11. No, if anything they like you more when the car gets older because they make more money off of you. ;)
  12. Haha, thats for sure. Ahem, excuse me THATS FOR SURE!
  13. You haven't been able to use Lexus nav systems while moving since Lexus started having nav systems in their cars in 1998. Its not a new development, and the word isn't "getting out". Many other manufacturers also limit functionality while moving...and it will eventually be everyone. I've said that until I'm blue in the face, but the whiners don't want to hear it...they want to whine. Anyways, Lexus keeps a non-nav option car on every model line, mainly for older buyers who don't want the nav. The vast majority of LS460s ship with nav. Its more common without it in markets with older buyers....Florida, Texas, Arizona...
  14. I am ECSTATIC to hear you use your parking brake! Most drivers in the US don't on automatic transmission cars which is extremely dangerous. The teeth on the parking prawl aren't designed to hold the whole weight of the car, although everybody thinks they are. What you do is very smart, I set the parking brake before releasing the service brake which accomplishes much the same thing. Your parking brake is actually not the rear brakes. On cars with rear disc brakes there are usually seperate parking brake drums (or drum).
  15. Like I told you in the email, congrats she's a beauty! I don't know why the computer readout is green either, but you get used to it. One thing I noticed, you have some yellowing of the headlights up at the top, from it sitting outside. This is really common with that generation LS, you see them all the time with headlights that are almost opaque. Hit them with the buffer and some abrasive polish to bring them back. When they get real bad they need wetsanding, but those aren't that bad.
  16. Yep, I bought the extended warranty for the first time ever because of the nav screen too, I had some other claims (it was worth it) but no nav failure. I'm on my own now lol...

    Nintendo Wii

Ours is hooked up to our plasma, no problems. You set it to wide screen and burn in protection mode and it dims if the screen hasn't been touched in 5 minutes. Good games: WiiSports which it comes with is a lot of fun, tennis, golf, boxing, and bowling MarioKart Tiger Woods Golf We just got a WiiFit that the misses REALLY likes.
  18. You'll probably have to pay the deductible. Specify OEM glass!
  19. The ES is a much smoother and quieter car than the G, even the new one. The G is a nice mix between the IS/3 Series feel and the feel of the ES, but it is sportier and does not ride as well. Infiniti is making some great cars, my main concern is lower quality dealers (at least here) and less dealers, coupled with lower resale.
  20. Call this guy: www.scottwax.com
  21. The L cars start out optioned like a maxed out LS460, then you add options from there that arehn't available on the SWB car like the executive seating package, the air suspension, etc. The front seats of the car are exactly the same and they ride exactly the same.
  22. Its really not off topic: I think you have to rework your idea of underpowered. In terms of small, would it surprise you to know that a Prius is in the same passenger size class as an LS and has more cargo volume? The Camry is a very well sized car and comes in a Hybrid. What I'm saying is companies need to engineer larger cars that get better mileage while at the same time Americans need to figure out that they don't need vehicles as large as they think they do. Why do you need a vehicle as large as an LS for instance? Whats the answer? If you want to have a discussion lets have a discussion about our viewpoints. But driving a hybrid makes gas CHEAPER for you, and if everyone drove more efficient vehicles demand for oil would go down and prices would go down. Thats supply and demand. But what is your point? Because other countries are using more we may as well use more? If other countries are using more and we use more, prices will go HIGHER. Again, supply and demand. This is all very much on-topic. The topic is gas prices, and all of this has to do with gas prices.
  23. See, its pretty frustrating when people take what you're saying and then use it to make generalizations about you and your attitudes towards a given subject...isn't it? I find in completely hilarious that things that you're saying Are exactly what I said to you in the Gore guzzling energy thread when you twisted what I was saying and made an assumption that I was a human-hater. Pretty frustrating huh? You called me anti-human, negative, accused me of being disgusted and loathing the human race, and painted me as bitter. You also said I have a one-track negative mind. If you can't handle people making judgements about you because of your opinions, don't make judgements about others because of their opinions. I think I made my point, so I'll drop it. I think you have to rework your idea of underpowered. In terms of small, would it surprise you to know that a Prius is in the same passenger size class as an LS and has more cargo volume? A tank lasts me about 5 days, so I have to fill up about 6 times a month. If I didn't loathe driving thePrius so much, I'd drive it for work...
  24. You operate on the incorrect assertion that its not worth doing anything unless it will be the silver bullet and fix the problem. This is just dumb, it makes no sense. I have a "fuel slug" and a Hybrid. It costs me $75 to fill the Lexus up...$40 to fill the Prius. Same range (Prius is more actually). You don't think if everyone drove more efficient cars we would use less gas as a country? If not you need to take freshman math again. Using LESS OIL is not as good as NO OIL, but the logic you're using which is "if we can't use no oil, we might as well use as much oil as we want!" is tragicly flawed. Less oil is better than more oil!
