  1. I know, I must be the only SOB on the road that likes buying tires, especially right now. However, on our recent trip to PA I noted extremely bad hydroplaning on the highway in a heavy rainstorm, when I inspected the tires sure enough, they're almost to the wear bars. So thats it for the Turanza LS-Vs. I've had them for 19 months and about 35,000 miles. I was very satisfied with them, and from my experience with V rated tires on this car, this is about their lifespan. Bridgestone doesn't make them anymore so I'm probably going back to Michelin with the Primacy MXV4. However, as you all know I'm a big proponent for sticking with the factory speed rating. The difference in cost however between the H Rated primacy's and the V rated primacy's is like $45 a tire, so for $180 in savings I'm really tempted to try the H's. TireRack says its fine, and I get conflicting data online on top of my own experience. Anybody have any thoughts?
  2. Waxing and the Klasse sealant are mutually exclusive. If you're using the sealant, no need to wax unless you specifically want the look of the wax over the SG sealant, in which case you need to make sure you're using a non-cleaner paste wax. I've never been a huge fan of the Klasse system, I've used it but only a few times so I'm probably not the best person to ask. I do like Klasse AIO because it removes staining well. I do know however that I wouldn't use the PC to apply Klasse SG, you want to use VERY VERY thin coats of the SG, and thats best achieved with a MF or terry applicator.
  3. This is my rationale for why I believe that on some level Global Warming is real. Here we are producing all of these emissions into the atmosphere, things we know that specifically have properties that coat and reflect UV rays and things we know chemically break down components of our atmosphere that give it the properties it has. Plus, all of these emissions are produced by unnatural means, things we have created that we weren't naturally supposed to create. It only makes sense that those things can't be good for the earth...
  4. I have a feeling the UI for the iPod is going to be like that with everything... I bet the type of control you're looking for isn't going to be available since the Lexus touchscreen doesn't have the menus or controls available to provide it...
  5. Is she an Al Gore fan? Not particularly no.
  6. Well of course, and those who believe global warming does not exist only quote scientists that believe as they believe. I can turn your argument about where the funding comes from around too. Where does the funding come from for the scientists that don't believe global warming exists? I bet it comes from sources that would suffer from tightening of fuel and emissions regulations.
  7. The URL has to end in .JPG To get the .jpg address, right click your picture and click "properties" Select the URL up to .jpg and then don't select the rest. Like that
  8. You should polish as needed. If you adopt a proper washing tecnique you shouldn't have to polish much at all.
  9. Its definately single stage. Its not one coat, its as many coats as the clearcoated cars, they're just all color coats. Unfortunately yes, the swirls will return. You need to use something with some cutting action to actually remove them. Very easy to do on the single stage black.
  10. Did you watch his movie? My guess is no. All he does is take the science as provided by scientists and put a face on it. Admittedly thats what he does, he doesn't pretend to be a scientist only a spokesperson. John Coleman makes statements and uses only himself to back them up.
  11. No, then it looks like a 16 year old owns it...
  12. All you have to do is google: http://www.swov.nl/rapport/r-97-36.pdf http://www.businessweek.com/autos/content/...0103_179336.htm There are plenty more, just have to look. This is from the NHTSA: When you look at all the "conspiracy theorists" they don't have any factual data to back up their claims that DRLs don't reduce accidents, or that they cause accidents. All they say do is say the other data is no good, and offer no proof thats the case.
  13. Yep, he used fuel injector cleaner. Your ES died every time you disconnected the battery?!? Mine doesn't do that...
  14. Yeah I wouldn't use Pohanka...
  15. Oh its not one coat, its just as many coats as the clearcoated cars (about 8) they're just all color coats without a clearcoat. all the clearcoat is is colorcoat with no pigment.
  16. Okay, then point me towards a situation where the transmission on an LS has failed because of the ECT PWR button. Or even better...point me to a situation where the transmission on an LS has failed EVER unless due to massive owner neglect or abuse? You won't find one. The button is there because it changes the way the vehicle performs and lowers gas mileage. Its there to offer a choice of different performance styles. It does nothing but slightly, VERY slightly change the shift points and maybe holds the RPMs a couple hundred RPMs more between shifts. Its simply like driving the car with a slightly heavier foot. It will not hurt the car to operate it in ECT PWR all the time. I did it on an LS for 165,000 miles...no problems or accelerated wear whatsoever. Never any burnt fluid. Its totally fine. I seriously doubt it would hurt anything, I don't think it will improve mileage though, in fact I'd expect the opposite.
  17. What you need to do is have the car machine polished by someone who knows how to do that, or learn how to do it yourself. The waxes won't remove the swirls, it'll just hide them. I bet you hit that car with an orbital buffer and a mid grade polish it will look brand new. The paint cleaners and swirl removers need to be worked into the paint. Simply applying them and letting them sit then removing them isn't doing anything. The work is done when they're being applied and worked into the paint. The bad thing about the single stage paint is that it swirls really easily, but it polishes out really easily and turns out really well. Check out the detailing forum ;) Lexus black is always single stage, except for a few years between 2001-2005. They've gone back to the single stage black.
  18. Because snow starts the car in second gear and omits first, thats all it does. It probably wouldn't hurt the transmission either, it automatically cuts the snow mode off probably to keep people from complaining about drivability issues when people forget to shut it off.
  19. The 22's will kill the ride, it won't ride anything like stock.
  20. Unfortunately, they do that because it works. People absolutely do tune in to watch after seeing those news breaks and people are more drawn to bad news than good news.
  21. LOL! Last time I checked George Carlin was not a scientist. I love George Carlin (may he rest in peace), but this is comedy not a scientific viewpoint and has no basis in this argument. So you know, John Coleman does not have any training or education in the science of weather, climate, or science of any kind. John Coleman is a weathercaster (meaning he reads what real meteorologists put out on the air, he is an on air personality, a talking head) and a businessman (he has an MBA). he founded the Weather Channel as a business. He doesn't have any relevance on the subject. Even if he did, he's but one viewpoint. There are many, many, many meteorologists and climatologists that believe climate change is happening. Now he's "the goofy weatherman" on a local San Diego station who doesn't believe in barometric pressure. He's a yahoo looking for attention.
  22. So you guys know, I have banned both of wwest's accounts for good. No idea why he created a new account since we didn't ban his original one, but who knows. His continued berating of Hybrid owners after being warned and temporarily banned for it in the past coupled with his creation of multiple accounts made our course clear.
  23. We have decided wwest's membership is no longer desired, he's been banned from the forum.
  24. The quality of the bra material varis greatly depending on the manufaturer too, look around.
