  1. i think the key fob's from the '97-'99 can be reprogrammed. but i'm not sure. sk shouold know. :)
  2. the '92-'96 is under the passenger seat and the '97-'01 is behind the glove box. hey steve, where'd you get that dash kit from? it seems to match the stock trim pretty well.
  3. awesome pictures, mike. got any more of your GS in the show?
  4. here's a pic of a drilled rotor... and here's a pic of a slotted rotor... hope this helps prozac...
  5. i actually really like the Toyo's on my grandpa's '03 ES. they came stock. can't really reemmber which ones they were though. they were Toyo Proxes, no doubt.
  6. i'm wondering that myself, sk... anything special planned? haven't really seen any 2" drop kits online..
  7. i'm pretty sure cross-drilled rotors would improve braking more than solid rotors. since the solid rotors can't spread heat away from the rotor as easily, it heats up more. the cross drilled has holes. when the friction between the pad and the rotors goes over the holes, it can push some excess heat into the holes and then it can be released later. the extra air through the holes also helps cool down the rotor itself.
  8. the LS is a great car. it's powerful, and even though sometimes you see some early '90's models, they don't lose their style. i'm 16, and i've got a hand-me-down '93 ES300. it's a great car for a first. maybe even too much in my opinion. there have been many instances in which people have asked my mom if it was a new car. sure i love the ES for it's comfort and adequate city power, but i've always had my eye set on a SC300/SC400. still trying to find one for a good price. but the LS is an AWESOME car. and there really aren't that many old folks that drive them... or that i've seen. :)
  9. the body's are different. the engine's are different. the bolt patterns would most likely be quite different as well. i'm not sure if the chassis changed, but i'm sure something with the frame had changed in the newer generation to make it as safe as possible. i'm not completely sure, but i really don't think it would work. if you've got the money to try it, go for it.
  10. i'm not sure if it really does anything. i've heard some people change out headunits with other OEM headunits with no problem and no code entering.
  11. i actually have no clue on the brakes. the last time my brakes were done was when my dad had them, and they're in perfect condition, so i don't have to worry about them at all. but sk should be around soon to help you out. he should be able to take care of this one.
  12. i had lost the screw to one of my master keys too. i've begun to use the other one. it's hard to find a screw that fits without going to the lexus dealer. the battery # is CR1216 hope this helps.
  13. the ECT only tells the transmission to shift at higher rpm's. since the max hp and torque is around the 4400rpm area, the max power isn't in the lower rpm's. allowing the engine to run into the higher rpm's gives you full power. sure it uses more gas since you're in higher rpm's, but when you're in a hurry. it helps. i usually keep it in normal, unless someone challenges me that i might need some help on, or i'm in a hurry to get to school.
  14. looks like sk covered it. 2. rotors seem warped sort of.
  15. alan i know you're just trying to get Lexus to get a fix out for this hesitation, but i was just lost on whether or not CL links were allowed on LOC or not. i wasn't informed on it.
  16. ahh i remember that one, matt... wow that was long... :) RedLine is a good oil from what i've heard and since you've got a high mileage car, synthetic would be the best way to go.
  17. hey mcelligott reappeared :) the strut bar's a good idea by mcelligott but getting new rims and springs can't go wrong. :D
  18. hrmm... wait so matt... CL links are allowed? i'm so lost...
  19. not bad on the 5 spokes. maybe a bit too bling bling for me... but i'm not a big fan of chrome hey steve, what happened to the LS wheels idea? kevin
  20. welcome chris. i haven't personally seen models online either for the windom/es i wish they made one, but i'm not sure if they did. sk - yeah i've seen those. they look pretty nice. kevin
  21. haha dang stevie. that's some cheap gas. but what can i do for being only 16. :D
  22. hey MCV, nice to see you around. showing off the body kit again, i see :P
  23. sk... ther's a switch... it just turns the remote entry button capability on and off, but there's no sound. actually... 92lexus, if you spliced it from the red security wire, that means your lights would be flashing all the time. if you've seen the security light, it stays solid for about 20 seconds or somethin (never timed) and then it starts flashing. this would be really obvious at night, since your turn signals would be flashing repeatedly. just fyi
  24. wow mike, posting this all over the forum, aren't we... :) my car's in the shop from a re ent rain accident, so can't really go anywhere, since i'm not old enough for a rental. :D
