  1. That's exactly why I am seriously considering Subaru next go around. :D
  2. I got what I paid for too......considering only about 25% of the underpinnings are modified Camry bits, the rest is Lexus. ;) You kind of make it sound that one who buys a vehicle off the same platform is getting ripped off.
  3. It's a fair point.....I personally however do not mind platform sharing, stuff like that does not bother me. To each their own. B) But SW is correct, if every car had it's own unique platform, purchasing a car would be astronomical because of the engineering costs alone. B)
  4. Very sweet pics! B)
  5. For the most part I agree (to go with your comments as an example.....the Subaru Forester is built on the Impreza platform & then reinforced in it's own way......5 star front & side impact safety rating from both the NHTSA & IIHS). The PT however does not have what I would call a 'stellar' reliability record compared to other models in it's class & is not at the top in cargo capacity either. Overall performance is below par as well, unless you get the Turbo engine (a Turbo Chrysler?......no thanks ) :whistles: The good news is (depending on how one looks at it) the PT suffers from rapid depreciation just like almost every other domestic model so prices are more affordable. ;)
  6. Fair enough.....& yes they have improved. Still to this day they are nowhere near the Japanese brands however in terms of quality & reliability......Chrysler has lot's of work still to do. B)
  7. Not sure if your comments are relevent........BROE is looking for an SUV tire which the YL420's are not (nor can I find them anywhere on tirerack or several other tire sites).
  8. The price of that STB is very reasonable. B)
  9. I read that on CNN today as well. But Iran claims they are using nuclear technology for electricity & 'peaceful' purposes. :chairshot:
  10. Very well said & still a fantastic looking machine! Love the color. B)
  11. I'll personally never own a Chrysler product....no matter how nice the design. I use to work for a Chrysler dealer years back, even the techs at the dealership refused to drive em! Didn't matter if it was a entry level Neon, or top of the line Jeep (and everything in between). In the last month at my work (650+ employees at my new location) I've seen CAA (same as AAA in the U.S.) in our parking lot towing workers cars because of various breakdowns........all 6 vehicles were Chrysler (2000 model years & newer!) products (including 1 PT) & I couldn't stop shaking my head. :whistles: Perhaps try & convince her to consider something similar........I highly suggest having a close look at a Subaru Forester (03 or newer.......their bulletproof & built like a bank vault on wheels). ;) :)
  12. My pet peeves in no specific order... - The tranny takes a while to shift when the car is cold (which is the design). - I wish my es had slightly higher ground clearance. - No 'headlights left on' warning chime if you left your lights on (also normal). - Oil filter location is a pain & messy (I wish I could sit down with the engineer on that one!) - location of cabin air filter. - Cup holder design leaves something to be desired.
  13. Very true indeed! B)
  14. I have it too on my 2001.....it's called AVS (or adaptive variable suspension). Best advice is call the Lexus dealers parts department & get prices....let me know as well......I'm curious. If they end up being astronomical in price, I will have a difficult decision to make one of these days. Keep me posted.
  15. The Castrol syntec 75w90 is doing just fine with no complaints.......for the price paid, I'd use it again. B)
  16. Maybe a 'custom job' is possible somewhere......but no 'factory' Lexus 4 door convertibles that I am aware of.
  17. Why not consider these? B) http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...re1=yes&place=0
  18. Welcome to the LOC. B)
  19. You mentioned some of the maintenance items you replaced.....did that include a new fuel filter? What are your tire pressures set at?
  20. Your front tire pressure is too high & you won't get the best handling characteristics is all 4 tires are not the same. The new tires should at least be switched to the rear of the car.
  21. To get the best possible handling, you should have all 4 tires the same (size, brand/model & speed rating).....not 2 & 2 (and beleive it or not, best tires should be at the rear of the car, not the front). What tires are on the back & what tire pressures do you have them set at?
  22. Just responding to a comment is all. :whistles: Which makes me wonder, where are your Michelins made?
  23. Neither have I until I got these. B) ;) They are also made in Canada, in which both the Triple Tread tire itself & the actual plant which they are made have won numerous awards recently. :)
  24. You might have some luck on www.toyotanation.com in the Camry forums since it's basically the same car. B) I'd bet you will get a ton of replies there. B)
