  1. Per the owner's manual, I attempted to replace a burned out parking light bulb. The instructions say twist the socket counterclockwise to remove it. Well, I had I no luck in making that happen! So, I am seeking any tips someone might have to detach the socket so I can replace the bulb.
  2. I have a 2001 RX300 and have noticed the left parking light is not working. Upon checking under the hood, I do not see any way to access the bulb/socket to install a new bulb. I am wondering if it is necessary to remove the entire headlight assembly to access the bulb. Thanks in advance for any insight into the repair.
  3. I have a 2001 RX300 and the dome light has burned out. I had it replaced once while the vehicle was under warranty, but this replacement is on me. Can anyone give me a tip on removing the DONE LIGHT COVER?
  4. SORRY for the posting error........Posted in wrong forum. Have re-posted in RX300 forum!
  5. The bulb in the dome light of my 2001 RX300 needs replacement. The owner's manual does not offer any instructions for removing the plastic cover. I see a slot at the edge of the cover that may be a place to insert a tool and pop off the cover............however I am hesitant to be too aggressive in an attempt to remove it. Can anybody offer instructions for removal of the cover?

  7. I know many of you have commented on replacement tires for an RX300, but please consider the conditions under which I drive. I drive 45 miles each way to my office. 45% of the drive is on expressway at 65-70 mph. 45% is on two-lane state highway at 55 mph. 10% is local driving speed. I would like to purchase tires that will give a comfortable ride and LONG tire life. I do not drive off-road, accelerate rapidly, or brake hard when stopping. I currently have 75,000 miles on the original Goodyear Integrity tires and still have reasonable tread left. My previous car was a 1996 Olds Bravada. The Michelin Radial XW4 tires on that were replaced at 117,000 miles. I replaced them with the same tires and sold the car to an employee with 198,000 miles on it and he is still driving on the second set. So, based on the above, I would appreciate your thoughts on what tires I might consider as a replacement on the RX300.
  8. Scott: I had the same question when I purchased a CPO 2001 RX300 last June. The response I got was that it was a function that was never activated to contol anything in the radio system. I've had it ON and OFF and not noticed any difference. Brian
  9. I have been using 87 octane in the CPO RX300 I purchased last June and have driven 20,000 miles with no problems. I average almost 22 mpg on my 90 mile round-trip to work each day. B.
  10. My 2001 RX300 has been slow to shift into over-drive when it has been sitting outside at my office. The temperatures have been falling lately(below 20 F.) and I am noticing that the transmission does not want to shift into over-drive until I have driven for a few minutes. When I leave my office, I am soon on a state route and the speed limit is 55 mph, which I prefer to maintain. The colder it gets, the longer it takes for it will shift into over-drive. I have 40,000 miles on the vehicle and have no other problems. Anybody have a similar experience? I would appreciate your response! Brian
  11. I purchased a low mileage POS 2001 RX300 this summer and would like to obtain winter floor mats to help keep the carpet in "like new" condition. Anybody have a suggestion on where I can obtain quality winter floor mats that a made to specifically fit an RX300? BROE
  12. Thanks for the suggestions, but I had to resort to lacquer thinner. I think the sap was from pine or cedar trees, and not water soluable. Lacquer thinner did the job and did not effect the finish. I did wax the entire car with Meguair's NXT and found it fast & easy!
  13. After two week's vacation in Northern Michigan, I now have several "globs" of tree sap on my RX300. I tried a commercial bug & tar remover, but that did no good! I'm thinking lacquer thinner may work, but I would use it only as a last resort. Anybody have a suggestion? Brian
  14. I recently purchase a used 2001 RX300 with 26000 miles. With the AC off, I get almost 24 MPG on my 90 miles round trip to and from work each day. About one forth of the distance is city driving, the balance is expressway driving at speeds of 65/70 MPH. With the AC on, the MPG drops 1-2 MPG. I am a big fan of cruise-control and use it as much as possible. One of the selling features for me in purchasing the RX300 was the fuel economy! I had been driving a 1996 Olds Bravada and would average about 20 MPG with that. At 196,000 miles and some recent and first major repairs, I decided it was time to retire it even though it runs great and uses no oil and move on to an RX300. Brian
  15. I have a 2001 RX300 and would like to install a trailer hitch. The only kind of towing I will be doing is pulling a small sailboat and using the receiver for a bike rack. I have researched several internet sites and found several options. It appears a Class II hitch would be adequate, but I might consider a Class III. Some of the hitches available seem to be less noticeable on the car than others. Anybody have a suggestion on what I might consider and a source for same. Is the Hidden Hitch one that installs under the rear bumper with minimum visibility? Brian
