I doubt whether the OEM brake pads will last 50K miles especially on an LX, unless you're doing mainly highway driving. ← They should last a heck of a lot longer than 17k. B)

If the air cond is working fine & nothing mentioned in the owners manual about your concern, I would think there is nothing to worry about. B)

Craig, I shun to think hoe much a new 300c will be worth 3 years from now.......it might just turn your stomach.

As most of you know, I have in fact switched to Amsoil ASL 5W 30 from Mobil 1 as I can actually get it slightly cheaper than the M1. Fantastic oil (along with the Amsoil HD oil filter) & a slight increase in fuel economy to boot! B)

My wife has had an 05 es330 for a few months now and loves it. There haven't been ANY preblems with it, unless you want to call a long scratch on the side a manufacturing problem lol My brother has a 2001 toyota camry xle and loves it to death! He has over 100k miles i'm sure of it, and hasn't had any problems at all. Toyota knows how to make cars! ← I don't think there have been any major complaints with tje 97 - 01 ES or Camry V6's LexKid (I know I personally don't), only the 02+ generation with the 5 speed automatic. But the 05's have alot less complaints than the 02 & 03's from what I have read.

I concur with Turbo. Having said that, the IX NGK plugs will not last as long as regular iridiums. Stick with either 'regular' NGK iridiums or Denso iridiums. If you need the NGK part number, let me know. B)

If you have the choice, I'd personally go with the car that has the Traction control. As far as winter tires are concerned, they might be a wise idea considering the car is RWD. What is the exact tire size you need as there might be better & less expensive winter tire choices other than the Blizzak's. B)

In Canada at least, I'm afraid that is not the case as the premiums will increase regardless. B)

Agreed! The insurance companies look for any small excuse to up your rates.....for something like this, I wouldn't even consider calling your insurance company. B)

The only other tranny fluid I know of that is compatable with Toyota Type IV fluid is Amsoil Synthetic ATF (good with Toyota type IV & Dexron III fluids). As far as I know.......the power steering fluid takes Tranny fluid too! ;) Try E-bay or something to search for an RX owners manual online. Here is a link to the Amsoil info. Good Luck! You can't really compare the LS & ES as they are two different animals if you will & are targeted at different customers. You will have better winter traction in the ES, better fuel economy with the 6 cylinder engine (not to mention a lighter vehicle) but it as you know is a smaller car. Both are georgous cars & there is something to be said driving the Lexus 'Flagship' being the LS so it comes down to personal preference & which car you feel most comfortable driving on a daily basis. It's might not be an easy decision for many however. B)

Craig, if you are considering paying that kind of cash for a new 300c, I would respectfully suggest maybe putting that cash towards another pre-owned Lexus (perhaps a different model than the LS this time around?) ;) I respect SW's opinions on his views of a used vehicle vs. a brand new one, but I have to disagree. (having said that, if one has the means & the money to burn on that sort of thing, then by all means knock yourself out, but it's a lot of money wasted in only a few short years.......especially on a 'Domestic' brand).:whistles: I wouldn't have been able to afford my ES if I was to purchase it brand new (would have been about $56,000+ taxes (in our case, plus PST, GST, air tax, tire tax, gas tax, Freight, P.D.I. & the taxes on top of taxes! :cries: ) Canadian $$$ the way it is equipped)! I paid roughly half that & can still get about 80-85% of that price today as the previous owner took the brunt of the depreciation hit & maintained the car for me to boot! :whistles: In over a year and a half now that I have owned my ES, other than regular maintenance, all that has been done to the car is the dome light assembly had to be replaced (under factory warranty). I got all service & maintenance records before I bought the car & put a Lexus extended warranty on the car as well (which I'm wondering if I should have as there have been no problems, but I do have piece of mind at least untill 180,000 kms or 2007). The car has seen two flawless tours of duty (so far) to sunny Florida as well. B) You can buy a real nice 'pre-owned' Lexus for the price of a brand new 300c & get one hell of a better car IMO & that's the road I would seriously consider if I were in your shoes. Something to seriously consider. ;) Just my 2 cents.....well maybe 3 cents in this case :) ;)

It happens all the time I am afraid. :( Can you post pics of the damage so we might have a better idea of a fix?

I would sell the car 'as is' & not bother to fix the tranny. You will not be able to get back the money you sink into it. B)

Also consider using synthetic oil instead of dino. ;)

I used plugs from autozone. they were platinum dual post bosch 2. Should I have used others? ← I would have stayed clear of Bosch plugs personally & used either NGK or Denso platinums or iridums. The Bosch plugs are certinaly not helping things here. B)

I would stay clear of Chrysler personally Craig, not to mention the 300c is in it's first year of production (again a Chrysler to boot, which I would never buy new because of the severe depreciation) If you are hell bent on getting another vehicle, I would consider something else & at least stay Japanese (if not stay with another Lexus). Just my 2 cents. B)
