  1. UPDATE After doing alot of research & thinking (some might call it OCD ;) ) because of the extremely high prices of gasoline now (close to $1.00 a litre here in Canada which works out to be close to $4.50 a gallon!!! So my friends south of the border, don't tell me your problems about fuel prices lol ;) ) we are giving serious consideration to a 2003 or 2004 Subaru Forester XS. I did mention that we wanted a 6 cyl, but the Forester has decent power from it's 2.5 litre (larger 4 cyl - 165 hp) engine, full time AWD has about 65 cu ft of cargo space (very close to the Highlander!) & only weighs about 3150 lbs compared to almost 4,000lbs for the Highlander! 5 star safety rating & a very good overall reliability rating. B) Any comments & feedback on the Forester, I would appreciate it. ;)
  2. Agreed, an Excellent read! :D Also consider getting a book called 'The Toyota Way' as it has info on the Lexus brand as well. B) ;)
  3. My Toyo's are still going strong.....sorry you weren't happy with your choice sw! I'd give serious consideration to the GY Triple Treads if they come in your size & speed rating. Just my 2 cents. The new Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S have the same traction & treadwear rating as the TPT's.......the the Michelin website states the winter tration of a 8 out of 10 & wet weather only a 7 out of 10........I will reserve judgement until more folks have put them on thier vehicles & hear how they perform in the winter however.
  4. What type of tires are you looking for & what size? B)
  5. Your first choice should be the Goodyear Triple Treads - www.goodyearassurance.com second choice should be the Falken Ziex ZE-512. Third, I would go with the Yoko's. Keep us posted & good luck! B)
  6. Currently running Toyo Proxes TPT......I will be switching to Goodyear Triple Treads (H speed rating).......best overall all season tire currently available at any price! B) :D My wife's running the Falken Ziex 512's.......also an excellent choice!
  7. The factory Bridgestones that came fractory equipped (both Potenza's & Turanza's) are total garbage especially in rain & snow. I'm not suprised you are having problems like this. Do a search on these forums to see what others have said about these tires & check out the comments on tirerack as well. Before the winter, I would seriously consider putting another set & brand on your ES (good all seasons or a set of winters). B)
  8. Goodyear Triple Treads in an H speed rating would be a better overall choice over the Yoko's.....but the Yoko's are still a very decent choice. B)
  9. Funny, this is the first I've heard about issues with the Falken's.......any problems with Lexus owners at all? My wife's Falkens are still as good as the day we put them on her car roughly 20,000 miles ago now. B) Four of my co-workers have them as well at my suggestions & no problems.
  10. Agreed, Denso or NGK iridiums are the best choice. B)
  11. Just did a regular 'drain & fill' with Amsoil synthetic ATF myself.......shifts sem slightly smoother & no problems to report as the Amsoil is compatible with Toyota type IV fluid. ;)
  12. Yeah, when did you pick up an LS sk? ;) Looks good! Did the ladies come with the car? B) ;)
  13. I'm not 100% sure if the IS rims will fit properly on an ES What exactly are you looking for in a tire besides price? Please be specific......remember one only get's what they pay for. ;)
  14. OK, now were looking good! B) ;)
  15. Looks awesome! lol :whistles: By far the best looking LS I haven't seen! ;)
  16. I'll challenge Amsoil's H/D oil filter against the Denso's anytime. :whistles: :D
  17. Kumho tires are 'decent' but not great. They are around 'mid' to 'lower-mid' pack as far as tires are concerned (especially their all seasons). Much better choices out there. ;)
  18. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...romCompare1=yes A decent tire for the money but the wet weather performance is a bit questionable & not that high of a treadwear rating. Good Luck with your choice. B)
  19. Based on what your looking for in a tire, I suggest these as the very best choices: - Avon Tech M550 A/S http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...romCompare1=yes - Yokohama Avid H4S http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...romCompare1=yes - Falken Ziex ZE-512 http://www.falkentire.com/tires_512.htm - Toyo Proxes 4 http://www.toyo.com/tires/tire_lines/sport...r/proxes_4.html - Pirelli PZero Nero http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...romCompare1=yes All are very good choices, the Avon & Falken are your best overall value & the Pirelli are the most expensive. I hope this helps & good luck! B)
  20. Regardless of the year of RX you choose......I would make sure ALL service records are accounted for (including ALL oil changes & tranny fluid changes). I wouldn't worry about the engine sludge problem this way, & have the vehicle properly inspected by your mechanic first before making your decision. If the dealer or seller does not want you to have it inspected, RUN.......don't walk away from the deal. ;) B)
  21. What brand of gas is it? I would stick with just the usual unleaded fuel personally.......the LS is not a collectable car just yet. ;)
  22. Kumho's are not some of the better (and longer lasting) tires one can buy. B)
  23. I hope it was of help. B)
  24. Agreed.....stick with Denso or NGK's. B)
