  1. Weird! Mellow down, this is hardly a serious discussion! Sorry if this chit chat seems to offend you? Perhaps there are one too many dealers frequenting this forum. If so, perhaps you dealers should understand that a customer's concerns are a priority, not your desire to get him into any car you can. Twisting the truth to your own ends may work on some customers, but it can backfire if you come across as disingenuous. Those are the only dealers I give up on. There's one I am talking to right now who is worlds above the others in knowledge honesty and all-around just being a nice person. He's going to get 100% of my business, and I think I'm going to have to pay almost retail too (though I'll try to at least squeeze something extra out of the deal). Yes it can take 3 months to get a car by order (not 6 from what I'm told) but if the config I'm looking for isn't available, I have no choice but to wait longer. One odd thing a dealer told me was that if I order now, I'll probably get a 2010, but then he started saying since he doesn't have the new pricing he didn't know if that was possible. When a product is much loved and anticipated, you will find many rumors regarding it! I love this car! :D It's as serious as we the moderators and management want it to be young man. We will be the ones to decide that. If you want to dealer bash, go ahead if justified, but mod bashing is frowned upon on this forum. Now you chill before your mouth gets you off to a bad start on LOC. Bartkat, Just to make sure "my mouth" doesn't get me into more "trouble," could you please point out where I was "mod bashing." Just want to make sure I understand what you define as mod bashing and/or unacceptable/disruptive behavior. I agree that mod bashing (and member bashing for that matter) is not conducive to anyone. Sorry you took it that way, but looking over my reply to you, I think it was appropriate considering your comments to me. This a car lovers forum... I cannot think of another place that is meant to be more relaxing and cool, in other words, one place where you dont have to be so serious! You're giving me a rather cold reception as a mod. Maybe you don't know what "Super Moderator" means in the signature block? It doesn't mean "Dealer". Welcome to the LOC. Enjoy your short stay.
  2. I had the TSB, and I can tell you, there is no trade off.
  3. no--that's the worst thing you can do. you want to know the *factory* 10,000 service; the *dealer* service may have tack ons that the factory doesn't include.
  4. I certainly wouldn't lump the official dealer installed Lexus Parking Aid in with aftermarket parking sensor systems. The Lexus Parking Aid systems have been dealer installed options on other Lexus models -- not just the IS. I would expect the Lexus Parking Aid systems to be just as high quality as other Lexus sanctioned and branded accessory products and look like it was factory installed. I've bought a number of Lexus accessory products from Lexus dealers in the U.S., Canada and Europe over the past 19 years and have always found the products to be of very high quality. Lexus Park Assist is not a dealer installed option, nor is is port installed. It is factory only. If any dealer is installing parking sensors, they are not installing a Lexus product. And it certainly won't have the functionality of the factory system (i.e., it won't be connected to the dash warning light system, or the button on the dash that controls the AFS, etc.--and if you have nav, it should be integrated into the nav screen, telling you which corner is close to impact). Dealers don't all sell the same product. There was a post on Club Lexus a couple of years ago by a woman that really got hosed by the dealer--parking sensors didn't match the color of the bumper and stuck out 1/2 inch; system controls were not integrated into the cars controls, etc. It was real POS system. From the ES Page: An aftermarket system can't show this display on the dash.
  5. I think this is not a Lexus OEM product--I don't think Lexus would let you download and burn your own dvd.
  6. It is not possible to add Lexus OEM Parking Assist, other than in the factory--not without paying way more than it costs new. Others have reported being convinced by the dealer to install aftermarket systems with sensors that weren't flush, and other issues that made it clear it was aftermarket.
  7. This is what I did when I had a loaner, and when I held it up approaching the toll, it didn't register, and a ticket was mailed to the Lexus dealer, and forwarded to me. It was reversed, since I had an EZ Pass account, but it was an annoyance to deal with.
  8. I saw what car you are getting. But other than auto dimming mirror and rain sensing wipers, I don't know of any other sensor in a front windshield. Lane assist should be on the side of the car.
  9. I have an IS 250 with the sensor for rain sensing wipers. I mount my ez pass on the window behind the mirror. No problems.
  10. The Lexus website won't let me down load it--something is wrong with it. You got a lot of paperwork when you bought your car--the maintenance schedule should be there.
  11. As silly as it may seem to have an in-dash nav PLUS a portable, seems to me that is the simplest solution. If a replacement US DVD is $250+, I'd hate to see what Lexus charges for a DVD of Germany maps. Without even getting to the specs/compatibility issue, you can spend the same money on a portable nav unit, and get what you need.
  12. Yes--it is Hard Drive: But I doubt they would alter the basic functionality of the system, so that you could input addresses while driving.
  13. The IS splits the drive wheels 70% rear and 30% front under normal traction conditions. If traction is lost, up to 50% transfers to front. I thought the G37 was 100% rear under normal traction. Don't know about the hi rpms thing.
  14. Yes, download. You can literally download all versions of maps for all generations and burn the DVD. the download page doesn't ask you what model you have?
  15. cars.com has lots in the PA/NJ/MD/NY area.
  16. Download? You need a new DVD--there's no hard drive. I thought they were up to disk 7.1, but I couldn't find it on lexus.com
  17. I, for one, would like to hear. Some of our area managers went down to UA for a week of training. One of the guys, I'll call him Joe, went one evening to get gas in his SUV. When he came out of the shop to leave he pushed the remote button which unlocked all doors. As he got in a guy with a pistol jumped in the passenger side and told Joe where to drive. They drove around for awhile and finally on some back road the guy told Joe to pull over and let him out. I guess they found the vehicle later and don't know if they ever found the perp. Joe has told me the story first hand and it sounds really scary. That's why my remote and door handle only open the driver's door and why when I put my car in park the doors stay locked till I open them myself. good to hear he was not hurt. It's something to think about. When I drive my wife's Honda, I'm so used to clicking the remote 2x to open all the doors, I always do it as a reflex--even if I'm by myself.
  18. I've never heard of an ability to do that--for any car. If the steering wheel obstructs the instrument panel, I'd say you should be moving the wheel a bit higher.
  19. I have a hard time believing that they will upgrade the IS to the next gen system before they completely remodel the car. Never believe what the dealer tells you about stuff like that. They don't know any more than you could find with a good google search. The new RX/HS has a system that recognizes conversational voice, i.e., you don't have to memorize specific voice commands. They also removed the touch screen and added the "mouse"--there's no way the current IS is getting the mouse--there's no room on the console for it.
