  1. How do you know ANYTHING in the car is working? It's engaged all the time, so there's not a menu that can engage/disengage it.
  2. Good advice. They guy at Toyota may not have had all the facts--hitting a deer is NOT covered by your warranty.
  3. However--it won't change the start up screen. You just won't have to press OK--it goes away by itself.
  4. The only suggestion I would have is have the dealer check it out. I do not have to press down on my brake pedal very hard to activate the start switch.
  5. Well--it definitely looks like an IS mat. But, if so, it's not clipped down. There's a posting of this same picture on the Club Lexus [Car Chat] forum, placed next to a properly placed mat, which is no where even close to the gas pedal.
  6. If you're talking about the state trooper, has any definitive cause been decided on that? the news reports have only speculated, but one report also said that it had the wrong mats, I think. My local dealer puts cheap mats in their loaners with the name of the dealer on them--possible it's the same situation?
  7. But that would not be a problem unique to Toyota. Either the gov put lots of pressure on Toyota because of the family that was killed in the Lexus crash, or Toyota does believe that there is somthing about the design that makes them more prone to riding over the gas pedal. My other car is a Honda, and my prior car was an Acura. Honda doesn't use chintzy plastic hooks like in my IS that feel like they are about to come loose from the carpet to hold their mats in place--they use metal ones that are much more secure. Maybe this is the problem?
  8. I looked at the mat on my IS AWD this morning. Unless they get off the hooks, I don't see how they could slide over my gas pedal.
  9. that sucks considering excessive brake dust comes from over wearing the brake pads, so worn brakes is part of the problem... The TSB is just like a warranty item--they won't replace parts due to normal wear and tear. I think if you paid to normally replace the OEM pads, THEN came back to do the TSB, they'd have to do it free THEN.
  10. Isn't that then just the Ground Effects Pkg?? And does it make a difference? If they are asking you if you have the X-Pac, aren't they really just confirming whether you have a front lip??
  11. I have an 04 Honda, and have never needed the update. If you don't live in an area with a lot of new subdivisions, you can get away without it.
  12. Well why would I get a Garmon when I have one built into my dash? That's just doesn't make sense. I have tried ebay but is it possible to download the disk at all? Has anyone done it? If you were concerned about the cost of factory nav updates, my question is why did you get factory nav, instead of a Garmin?
  13. Then--why didn't you just get the Garmin to begin with? I'm sure it's possible, and it sure ain't legal. If you want the next latest update, have you tried eBay?
  14. Is is just the nav screen, or is it the instrument panel too? If it's the screen and the IP, do what Roger says. If it's just the nav screen, at night, hit the "DISP" button next to the screen, and then hit "Day Mode" on the screen (the Day Mode button will not appear during the day).
  15. For $500, they add telematics (which were never before an option), XM and iPod???? I'll believe it when I see it on the website--sounds like more dealer BS.
  16. LPS has nothing to do with the ambient lighting in the footwells. I know that you can dim them with the knob for the IP lights. Maybe for the dome light on/off too.
  17. that's part of the Luxury Pkg. the lites were blue from 06-07 and white 08-
  18. For what it will likely cost, you might as well just sell your car, and buy one that already has OEM nav.
  19. only 1000 and 5000 Yeah that is what I thought. So why am I getting away with free oil changes until 15k miles? The dealer probably slipped an extra piece of paper in front of you at signing, charging you way to much for "prepaid" service. ;)
  20. I definitely see more Matador on the road than Black Sapphire. The dealer should be able to give you exact numbers, but at this point in the model year, I would suspect it is hard to specify a low build color w/o a little luck
  21. I ended up sending Ana an email saying that before I would step back in the dealership I needed an email from her clearly stating that they would pay me 3,500 for my vehicle and give me an OTD price no higher than 28,600. This is where she was talking about being. The Internet Manager emailed me back and said, "my price should get you close to 29400.00 out the door". I have to say that $800 isn't worth arguing over, but I can't get myself to go back through those doors. I have a very difficult time supporting a business that operates the way this dealership does. just take their price to another dealer.
  22. That's good to hear because I was really expecting more from this dealer. Now, how about an update. I received a call today from the original sales person Ana. She was checking to see how things went. Honestly, I could tell she already knew, but hey she was trying. She apologized profusely and promised that if I would come see her she would make sure I got the deal we spoke about. Now what? I'm just about ready to buy this other car and suddenly she pops back up. At this point I'm not sure if I can get myself to go back in to that dealership. If I buy from them what's to say I won't get rotten treatment when it comes to service? It's amazing how one person can ruin so much. And truthfully, what's to say they aren't going to just run me around again? Get the best deal for YOU--don't go somewhere else and pay more "on principle". Take it somewhere else for service, if you need to.
  23. This is the truth. There are sh__ty salesmen at every make. I'd let the GM know about it. Maybe the attitude comes top down, but if not, and the GM doesn't ever know about it, it will not be fixed. I'd think in Orlando you could take the price you were previously given, and shop it to another dealer. OR--call Ana, and give her an earful on this asshat she handed you off to, and tell her that he lost Ana a sale.
