  1. My car is ~90,000 miles. The dealership initially thought I had run out of gas but after I explained the low idle, they knew the issue and are doing the piston replacement. Really thankful the people at Westside Lexus are so great. Just curious if you had heard of the "check VSC" light and deceleration examples as well? I have not read about this. Try Club Lexus.
  2. Look on the prior pages and follow that procedure. I think it works on most Lexus models, not just IS.
  3. You can hit "DISPLAY" and press "Screen Off", and you won't see anything on the screen at all. Or you can go into the display options, and set the screen NOT to return to the map automatically.
  4. It's definitely a common problem. I have 51,000 miles, and I'm on my 3rd set of tires.
  5. The puddle lights go on--but if you walk up to the car at a normal speed, they don't end up going on until after you have unlocked the door. You need to walk .... really .... slow....
  6. Unless you live in an area with a fair amount of new construction, or significant new highways, you really don't need to update them. Well that's true but I do want to upgrade. The price of discs on ebay are all over the place. Stealership wants $275. I found an '11 update on eBay for $70. Works great. That's fair.. Is it pretty much 'plug and play' to upgrade? If swapping out the old disc for the new one is "plug and play", then yes. Check your manual--you need to pop off the face plate where the clock is to access the nav disc.

  9. I think that the most recommended tire I have seen in various Lexus forums are Continental Extreme Contact DWS -- at least for all season. Being that you are in FL, you may prefer summer only tires. Research on Tire Rack is truly your best bet.
  10. I have on '07, which has a different mirror--the buttons are on the bottom and are not illuminated. A few months ago, I had a '12 IS250 AWD loaner; that had a mirror with illuminated buttons. I can't speak for the '11 IS, but my wife's Mazda CX-9 has a mirror the exact same style as the '12 IS loaner I had, except the Mazda has non-illumnated buttons and no compass. So--I'm thinking that for '12, Lexus just changed the part.
  11. Thanks tex2670. Did anyone mention what causes the problem? Mileage related? How many miles on your '07? Just curious, Just saw a post on ClubLexus today with a good explanation (thanks to solotex55 -- no relation):
  12. This was not my experience. I called and reported my issue--that I felt rough idle at stop lights or stop signs -- occasionally. They told me something about replicating the problem, and when I asked them how that could happen since it's only occasional, they said they check the codes. I did get a "Check Engine" light once--maybe 9 months before I brought it in for service. But I tightened the gas cap, and that was that. I also had a low oil warning about a year before--but I topped the engine off, and never had it again. The dealer went totally by whatever codes they found--not a check engine light being on when I got there, or actually witnessing the problem. As to finding the code, they did tell me that it needs to be shown "intermittently". They couldn't define this--it's something more than occasionally, apparently.
  13. Dealer gives you one freebie. So make sure you know all the changes you want.
  14. Just got it back yesterday. They also replaced a water pump and a wheel bearing--total cost billed to corporate under warranty: $6000.
  15. Your tires tread life is fine, it is the alignment set up from the factory that is the problem. Take a look at the sticky on this forum that details the problem. What I did is take my tires off the wheels and put the left side tires on the ride side wheels. Now the inside of the tires are on the outside of the opposite side of the car. The tires are still rolling in the same direction, just on the opposite side of the car. This will extend the life of your tires. Maybe so--but my OEM Bridgestones didn't wear unevenly. Costco told me that they see the inner edges of the Pilot Sports wearing early a lot.
  16. Just had these replaced after 27,000 miles -- worn inner edges. Michelin reimbursed 41% of the replacement cost of the Primacy MX4's. I liked the Pilot Sports, but I'm hoping these will last longer.
  17. I have 50k miles. Dealer said its a bad design of the piston rings.
  18. My '07IS is at the dealer now for this. They have had it 10 days so far; they say it will be ready Monday and should perform good as new once done. They need to pull out the engine to replace the piston rings and clean the carbon deposits.
