  1. I'd rather have a small back seat. Anyway, with all those words all over the pix, it doean't look any different to me.
  2. Not sure what you mean by the "small percentage who act like children?" Do you care to explain? Update, after voicing my concerns to my salesperson, they did arrange for one more pickup and loaner. That was very kind of them, and I appreciate it. While the pickup was not part of a written contract, it was certainly a consideration when I leased my first hi-line car from the dealer 7 years ago. I live in a smaller Illinois city (30,000) which offers mostly GM, Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, etc. No luxury cars. The nearest luxury dealer is 60 miles away ... and I'm not talking suburbs. I probably would not have initially leased with the out-of-town dealer had they not bragged up the "we will even pick up your car for service" perk. So, it has become expected. Like I initially said, I totally understand the tough economic times. I just think the dealer could have made more of an effort to tell customers of the policy change at the very least. I completely understand your point, the the lesson learned is to get them to give it to you in writing. When I bought my Honda Pilot, the sales person hyped the "free annual state inspection for as long as you own the car." Since this was the closet Honda dealer, what a great perk. Well, come to find out that there was a condition--you had to come and attend some new owner's clinic, and until you did, the system didn't show you were entited to that perk. I didn't really need to waste 2 hours of my life I wouldn't get back. After some complaint, I convinced them to update the system to show I was entitled. To play devil's advocate, any customer could make claims that the salesman told them this, that or the other thing. My salesman told me I could arrange for pick up of my car the night before--more precisely "Sure, anything you want". FALSE. If it's really important, tell them you won't buy without written assurances. Otherwise, THIS happens.
  3. It's not "Lexus"---it's your dealer. Look at the Lexus website, in the owner's link. The Lexus policy is not as generous as most dealers provide.
  4. I don't really see them going to the hassle and expense of reaching out to all customers to inform them--customers can find out the way you did (and only a small minority of customers use drop off/pick up anyway). Maybe if you had a December service appointment, they would have told you "Just so you know, come Jan 1, we won't be doing this any more." Just bad luck you were due for service in Jan. I have to say, I'm a bit surprised that they eliminated it completely. My dealer does it (assuming they haven't eliminated it since August), but they will only schedule 2 pickups per day. There are other ways to cut costs regarding loaners that don't alienate customers in such a manner--make loaners available for service appointments 2 hours or more; make drop off pickup for service of 4 hours or more. Dealers are doing what they can to stay afloat--but they need to continue to keep their service customers happy if they want those customers to keep coming back. My dealer is about 30 miles away from my house, and will do pick up/drop off, but if they discontinued that service, I'd be very likely to switch to a different dealer. I agree that you bought the car from that dealer on the basis, in part, on being able to get drop off/pick up, but if it wasn't in your contract, you know that it wasn't "part of the sale".
  5. Some have found the instructions at the homelink's website to be better
  6. $1200 for tires? Did you price out alternatives to the OEM tires? I blew a tire on a pothole and needed a new one--Bridgestone Potenza RE092. The dealer was CHEAPER than all independent shops, and cheaper than Tire Rack when factoring shipping. It's a shame because there are better cheaper alternatives to those tires.
  7. Does your PHONE ring--or just the Bluetooth? If it's both, then it's your phone, not the car.
  8. 1--You have it backwards. The windows open when you hold the unlock button on the reomote. You can't close them like that. 2--Not all phones work with the transfer mode. Search around here or Club Lexus, you might find a thread that confirms which phones do that. 3--Many people have had trouble with this. Of course, make sure you are following the instructions in the manual exactly. It's 2 steps. Some find that the instructions on Homelink's website are clearer to follow. I had trouble doing this--until I put a fresh battery in my Genie remote--then it worked immediately. Good luck. Enjoy your new car! Thank you for your help. What I was trying to say is that I am unable to locked the windows/moon roof by pressing the lock button on the DOOR of the driver/passenger. Aren't you suppose to hold the lock button and it should close the windows/moon roof? Well it does not work for me. Am I doing something wrong? That is not a feature of the IS. You can OPEN using the remote. If you want to close, you must do it conventionally.
  9. If you are driving in snow in normal mode fine, then I think the answer is "never."
  10. We had the same problem - it turned out 2 b the spare tire, don't 4get 2 check that 2. Suzeroo IS spare doesn't have a sensor (unless this changed in '09)
  11. The Home Link *should* be compatible with both rolling code and non-rolling code openers. The Manual has the instructions for both. I had an Acura before my Lexus, and had non-rolling code openers. They were compatible with my Acura--you just didnt need to "learn" the remote first.

  13. Wow--you better drive one. That's a huge drop in power. I like my IS AWD, but I don't think I would have bought it to replace an RS6 (it's a lot smaller too).
  14. You say the tires were @ 30, but not low. I don't have the doorjamb right in front of me--isn't proper pressure 35/37? 30 is low.
  15. ES 300? Don't know--this is the IS forum. In the 2gen IS, you have to take off a faceplate on the dash below the nav. It's in the manual.
  16. I think it is possible to change gears manually using the paddels without changing the shift lever from D... Again--this is no different from any other 2Gen IS. In '08 and '09, steering feel was supposedly improved, but I've never read anything about any change in the ride feel. Perhaps ptmis250 compared one with a Sport Pkg to a standard model?
  17. Everything you describe about the nav system is exactly the same as prior years.
  18. Interesting, but it would not sell well. I thought I read that the Audi A3 is getting killed in US sales--I can't imagine this would be any different. And why photo shop THAT color IS??
  19. We all have block heaters here. They only help the car to start when its very cold.It still takes at least 10 minutes to warm up inside.I talked to my dealer & this is the way it is.I would have not bought this car if I had known this.IT SUCKS Here's how to solve it: Get BOTH keys. Once you start up the car, place one key in the ash tray or cupholder, or out of site. Take the other key with you out of the car. Once you close the door, lock it with the button on the second key fob (not the button on the door handle). The car will lock. Nope.Doesn't work. Guess it's only with the car off. Time to get a garage.

But even if it locks, since the other key fob is within range, won't it unlock if someone touches the sensor on the door handle? Not if it's inside the car--the range is very short. I can't remember, but it may *require* you to unlock after that with the fob, and not with the door handle.

  22. No, in the day theres no change at all. Maybe there IS something wrong with the mirror, then. If you cover up the sensor on the back of the mirror (the one the faces toward the front windshield), the mirror will turn dark in the middle of the day. If you have the Lux/Sport Pkg, the outside mirrors will turn dark too, but not as dark as the inside ones.
  23. Turn off your CAPS LOCK. You really need to decide all these issues--not rely on us. This is a Lexus forum--the recommendations here will be skewed toward Lexus because that's what we all own. I didn't even look at the BMW because the price would be more, reliability less, and the iDrive a PITA. Sure, the IS wouldn't be as much of a driver's car than the 3, but the IS is still miles ahead of what I had before. As to color--all personal preference. Good luck to you in your decision.
  24. I haven't had any complaints. But--how do you see in the mirror during the day with the front sensor blocked? It's dark all the time.
